This charming, 5-star cottage on the North Devon coast is luxurious for a romantic treat but is also family friendly, warm and comfortable. The Annex sleeps up to 6 in two bedrooms (2+4) and can be rented independently or combined with the neighbouring property bringing the total number of guests catered for to 14-16. (See separate listing for Southclay)
The Annex is one end of a traditional, stone Devon longhouse. Guests love the wooden windows set into thick stone walls, the low ceilings and traditional fireplace and yes it does have a climbing rose growing by the front door!
Recently renovated it combines the best of old and... new perfectly. Equipped to an extremely high standard, guests find the internal specification and décor quite delightful. A delightful, country kitchen, quality furnishings, many thoughtful extras and a cosy wood-burner for cooler evenings ensure a visit to The Annex will be a comfortable and memorable escape, summer or winter.
Both properties share a stunning location with panoramic views across green fields to Lundy Island and fantastic sunsets over the coast, the view will take your breath away. It is not surprising this part of the coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty!
2 large hot tubs, one for each property, and shared tennis court and heated outdoor swimming pool in the garden, (heated Easter - end October), 2 private patios, (both with large gas barbeques) make these properties ideal for families or adult groups whether looking for an action packed or relaxing luxury break. The advantage of Southclay, being a detached property with an enclosed garden to the rear is there is a much greater degree of privacy.
On the edge of Abbotsham village near Bideford. The properties lie a short distance from the rugged North Devon coastline. Perfect for walking and cycling through unspoilt countryside and close to surfing beaches, rocky coves and fishing villages, the properties have excellent access for exploring the whole of North Devon being within minutes of the main Atlantic Highway.

We stayed at the annex at the end of February 2014 for a week of rest and recuperation at very short notice. The cottage is beautifully presented with everything that you would need. We loved the wood burner and the hot tub. The cottage is in a nice quiet location and you can see the sea! We visited many of the local villages and had some lovely walks. We also visited Port Isaac (Doc Martin) which is only one hour away by car. We hope to return one day when it is warmer to use the swimming pool. Read more
Would love to welcome you both back in the Summer :-)

A group of my friends and I stayed at Southclay in the first weekend of Feb 2014 and thought the annex was just superb. Unfortunately I sustained an injury on the day of our journey but was absolutely delighted to find a recliner with footstool in two rooms which was perfect for my recovery. The annex was fully stocked with everything you could want (except the sunshine of course). Jacquie made us feel very welcome and has established a fantastic business. We were trying to find ways to stay off work and have a few extra days but family was calling!! Thank you so much for our experience of superb accommodation, comfy beds and just a spotless modern environment. The hot tub and wood burner were the icing on the cake. Can't wait to go back. We also had a viewing of the main house - wow!! Heather Read more
Thanks for your review Heather - hope you are back on the court with the girls very soon!

Had a great time at The annex. Horrendous weather counteracted by the lovely hottub, soft beds, cosy living room, and all with a sophisticated style. (Nothing twee to contend with here!)
Everything was spotlessly clean, and Jacqui made us very welcome.
Thanks for a wonderful holiday. Read more
More storms forecast but a BEAUTIFUL morning today :-) Actually I think you are right - with good company, a warm fire, a glass of wine and lots of chocolate a Winter Break is fab! We always use the hot tub more during the winter than in the summer…. Thank you for your review - come back soon.

Recently we stayed in the annex and just loved it! It was the perfect spot to stay in with my 3 children on my own. The little village had easy bus access to Bideford and beyond and was just a short walk to The Big Sheep!
We went hiking daily and the kids couldn't get enough of the hot tub every evening looking at the stars! Sooo relaxing! And the cottage has an excellent washer/dryer combo which was truly necessary for muddy clothes after our long hikes.
The entire annex is fully modern yet cosy as can be, with ample space for myself and the children.
Jacquie was an attentive and kind host and we will be returning for sure! The children have big plans to try out the pool in the warmer weather!

We all loved our week at The annexe. The house was so comfortable and the pool, court and hot tub were used to the max. The outside shower meant that sandy wetsuits were easy to deal with and we could hang them to dry in the drying room. It is a great base to explore the area, where there is so much to do. Jacquie and her family could not have been more welcoming and really helped make our stay such fun. She and one of her daughters even did some babysitting for us which the children loved! Definitely one of the best holiday homes we have ever stayed in.

A fantastic stay, we took the whole family and found the accommodation to be absolutely exceptional and spacious...to have access to the pool and the tennis court was perfect after using the days to explore the local area. The location was central to beaches, charming villages and miles of coastline...cant wait to go back.
I also couldn't thank Jacquie enough with all her help with the booking and for her hospitality upon arrival, magnificent. Read more

My husband and I stayed here in idyllic conditions as the whole of the UK was in a heatwave. We loved the property and the facilities. It was clean, pleasantly decorated and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The couple of minor hiccups we had, Jacquie sorted immediately. She also made sure we knew where everything was and how everything worked. Nothing was too much trouble and we can't wait to go back! Read more

We've just returned from an amazing week in the annex. The cottage is spacious, immaculate and you'll find everything you need and more. The views from the kitchen and lounge blew us away. The pool was warm and clean, the hot tub was a real bonus especially in the evenings when we watched the sun setting over the sea. The tennis court is great and this is truly a fab place for a family. I/we will definitely be back. It is ideally located to explore North Devon and North Cornwall. We loved it! Read more

We (myself, my wife and 18 month old daughter) stayed here for a week in May 2013 and had a super time. The facilities are first class, with a clean pool, lovely hot tub and tennis court. All appliances are new and easy to use and all baby/toddler related stuff was on hand.

This was truly a home away from home experience. From the very moment, I walked through the front door I was impressed. The annex is an a fabulous experience and offers everything you need from a luxury holiday cottage.
The views from from the hot tub, heated swimming pool and tennis courts are breath taking. Every evening we watched the sunset over the green fields and coast from the warm, clean hot tub. The location is great for walking, sight seeing and day trips around north Devon. The house is situated in the pretty village of abbotsham with a lovely village pub that serves wonderful food.
The owners were warm, friendly and truly made our May bank holiday weekend adventure relaxing, fun and memorable! It was the perfect stay and we will be back. Alison & Stuart. Read more
