I sold my cabin about 5 years ago and have regretted it ever since. But Cool Cabins makes renting a cabin so simple and affordable that I may not buy another cabin. The cabin was clean, easy to find, and the best part was I didn't have to go into the office to get a key - I was able to go straight to the cabin. It was like having our own cabin - with no mortgage:)

The house was in great condition when we arrived. It was stocked with bathroom and kitchen essentials which came in handy. The location was close to big bear blvd and the surrounding area was very peaceful. Everyone had a great time!
Great trip with a few minor issues

We went up on a Friday after it had snowed all day. We found the driveway was still covered with snow. I had asked the girls at the check in and they had sent out a guy to clear the snow but I think they might have done the property next door. It was no big deal, us guys made the wives shovel the drive ;-).
Like other stated the cabin is very cozy with only the single heater and fireplace. We just kept the doors open and it seemed fine. We did not even use the little space heater in the bedroom. The lone bathroom needs the lock fixed on the slider door.
We were not able to get the Jacuzzi to work but since there was 2 feet of snow and temps in the teens we were fine. The BBQ also seemed to not work. We could not get it to heat up either.
We had plenty of space with 4 adults and 3 kids and two dogs.
Also we made an awesome sled run at the end of the street and kids had a blast. I would stay here and use Cool cabins again... We were contacted by local authorities looking for Dorner..

This is a very nice cabin. Pros: spacious, wood floors, nice size kitchen and dining area, nice foyer to put all your ski stuff and wet boots in so you don't have to drag your stuff through the house, hot tub was nice and clean, nice patio area to bbq, leather furniture (should be in all rentals), washer/dryer, nice sledding area to the side of house for kids.
Cons: up high in mountains...had to put chains on to get into driveway, beds are uncomfortable, no heat in bedrooms...except one fan heater...hard to get the right temperture in rooms (but not that bad, we knew this going into it as other reviews stated, so we brought our own portable heater for the other room.) Only one TV in livingroom and it is super small. Kitchen is well stocked with lots of pots and pans, but very few are actually useable...that is if you care about not having teplon in your food!
Other than that it really is a nice cabin...bring your own blankets and pillows as theirs are not the greatest, but I understand not having nice things in a rental because so many people are disrespectful to others belongings. We left the cabin in excellent condition and if everyone did the same we would all enjoy our vactions more. Treat a rental with respect, it's for all to enjoy!

This was a really cute cabin, clean, and the Pergo floors are a nice touch. The neighborhood is pretty and it's nice being set back in the trees. And for a cabin that allows dogs, it didn't smell at all like dog. Kitchen has everything we needed to cook. The jacuzzi was workable - not quite as hot as we hoped but okay. The cabin is more spacious than others we've rented - plenty of space for two adults and two teenagers and a dog.
It was good

Nice secluded cabin. Wish the jacuzzi was warmer and wish the propane tank had gas so we could bbq. Kind of a let down on those two thing but otherwise it was great. Read more
Thank you for the favorable review! We have sent maintenance to the property to ensure that the hot tub is at its best and to replace the propane tank! Thank you once again!

We went to this cabin on July 20, 2012 and stayed for two nights. It was really comfortable and fun being there. When we plan to visit big bear again, we will try to rent this cabin once more!

Comfortable with some problems

The cabin was very comfortable, the size was good for the amount of people we had. However, the pots and pans were pretty dirty. The jacuzzi started leaking we called management and they had sent someone right away to plug it but didn't fix it. The next day someone came over and fixed it but the jacuzzi never got hot so we never got to use it. The key was very convient because we didn't have to go pick it up. It was very very close to bear mountain and a 5 min drive to snow summit. Location was good, comfortable, but the jacuzzi situation was bad. Read more

This is a difficult one for me to state, but here it goes.
In fair shape, very cozy and comfortable, kind of what you would expect a vacation cabin of normal means to be. Nothing fancy, but very homey and nice. Close to Bear Mountain resort, the zoo and golfing.
The property management service was not very good. Before booking I verified with the customer service agent that the spa worked, upon arrival it did not. We arrived late due to traffic and found the heater also did not work. This presented an issue in that it was very cold in the house and I could not put my two young children to bed until it was fixed after 10:00 at night. In defense of the PM company, they were out to the cabin within about 45 minutes and replaced the thermostat. Unfortunately, the heat now stayed on for the remainder of our trip. The cabin was also not very clean. There were cob webs, dead bugs, dust and grease all over (and I am not very sensitive to this stuff). I would suggest Cool Cabins take a look at the performance of their cleaning and service people. Given a choice, I will not be staying in another property managed by Cool Cabins. They did present me a partial refund at about 20% and offered me another 15% off my next stay. Something is better than nothing. Read more

This property was a cute and cozy one, and met the needs I was looking for at the time. The only setback I could think of, is that I would have hoped for a more "in the woods" experience. Basically, the property seemed like a regular residential neighborhood... otherwise, it was nice.
A relaxing retreat

Spacious, quiet and cozy cabin. We enjoyed our stay! The items that needed servicing (propane tank, hot tub) were done promptly by Big Bear Cool Cabins. We liked that the cabin was nestled in the woods and not on a main road. The kitchen could have been better kept (really old stove, microwave and kettle), but overall it was nice. Probably wouldn't want more than 6 people staying there. 8 would be crowded. Would rent again with Big Bear Cabins.

Great place. Very clean, service was good. My only major complaint was that the grill gas was empty. We spent an hour making chicken kabobs for the grill. Went out to cook and the gas was empty. Really sucked at 9pm @ night. The only other thing was the hot tub water was low so we had to relay water to it for awhile. Other than that would come back for sure!

Liked the place, but a couple of small issues.
One, the sink smelled like something had died in it. We called management and they had someone immediately sent out to rectify the problem.
Two, the jacuzzi did not work; the breaker had been thrown. Finding the fusebox can be challenging if you don't know where to look. If this happens to you it's on the outside front left side of the building, the bottom fuse box. Others have noted that they don't know how operate the unit but it's pretty simple, press the dark gray button to start the jets, press again to stop. There is no temperature setting.
Three, most of the blinds in the living room were missing. Not much of a problem for us since we are early risers, but for those that want a dark environment you would want this fixed.
Four, we liked the location of the cabin but it can be kind of confusing to find for there are lot of turns and switch backs to get to it. We needed to rely on our GPS to find the unit, especially when we came in at night.
Besides these minor issues, I did enjoy my stay.

This cabin is small and quaint. It was very quiet. The only problem was the hot tub. We could not find the controls. Other than that I would definitely recommend the cabin, just ask for specific instructions on the hot tub if you want to use it.

this was the best cabin we have stayed in with Bbcc. We loved the open floor plan, the deck, hot tub, and the location. If I had to make any suggestions it would be to provide a bigger TV that works. For some reason when the TV got turned on, it turned itself off! This ended up being wonderful for us and to be honest I was grateful the kids had to find something else to do..
Good location but too cold and decor is dated.

The hillside location is pretty and the lounge/kitchen is nice with fun games. The hot tub was great! The fireplace is good but there is no heating in the bedrooms and one fan heater to share between two bedrooms is not enough. There were not enough pillow cases so we had to sleep on bare well-used pillows. The snow conditions were great but we cut short our trip and came home early.
fun but a little far away

I liked the spa and two rooms. the drive there got a little confusing. Its a little far back in the mountains. Overall i would stay there again though.
