      dark and cold living spaces.

Left on 12/29/2012 for a stay in December 2012

The size of the cabin and the yard were great. The inside of the cabin is dark wood and there was not much natural light and the available lighting was not sufficient ...it felt dark and gloomy inside. There were only two wall heaters so only the living room and the game room stayed warm..all the other rooms were freezing even if the door was left open. In addition the fridge was leaking water all In the inside on all the groceries... i would never stay at this location again.

      Great time !

Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012

This was are third cabin rental and it was the best so far. We loved that we could take our dogs, the yard was toataly fenced and there was a huge deck for hanging out. The cabin wasa bit warm during the day but there was fans so it was all good. We loved the location and the size of the cabin we were only going to be there for two nights but my family was having such a good time we stayed another light. I highly recamend this cabin and will be staying there again in the future.

      So-so

Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The cabin was clean but it was very hot inside
Even when opening the windows it was still to hot. We had
To spend most of the day outside . The sign that
Warns you about mice, Ants and spiders made
Us uneasy so it was hard for us to sleep at night
We did not see any of those animals in the cabin
But just the thought made me and the kids uncomfortable .

      Don't Forget Your Cookbook!

Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012

This home is in a quiet residential neighborhood. It has a very good layout, especially for families. There is a great deck with outdoor table and chairs, so the whole gang can eat outside. Our dogs loved the huge, level and completely fenced backyard. The yard is well treed, with what seemed like fruit and poplar trees, not pine trees. There is a feeling of privacy. There were many movies and games, but almost all of them were geared toward kids. The kitchen (although easy to cook in) is not well stocked, so bring your own spices, cooking utensils, etc. Don't forget the cookbook! The home could use a good spring cleaning, because it was very dusty - especially the wood blinds.

Everything went off smashingly with this cabin. It's got loads of space, it was clean and is central to all of the attractions on the mountain.

Gracias.

      Good times

Left on 01/07/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Stayed here for 2 nights, the house and kitchen was very clean, great condition. Less than 10 minutes to bear mountain. There's extra fleece blankets in the closets if needed. I like that it's in a quiet neighborhood, the home felt nice and cozy. Check-in literally took 2 minutes. We would definitely stay here again.

      Super fun and very relaxing

Left on 11/03/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The location was great - near Big Bear Convention Center (Oktoberfest). Enough parking for 3-4 vehicles. Went to the store up in Big Bear and was able to make meals without going out to eat every night. There is not central heating, so you have to sleep with the door open to the hallway if you don't want to sleep in an ice box. The .5 bath is in the game room! The group laughed hysterically when we found it... it looks like a closet! There are enough beds to comfortably sleep 9, although the sign on the outside of the cabin says "no more than 6." We all loved the deck and had breakfast outside one morning. Overall, we had a great time!

Left on 10/27/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Pinewood treated us to a good time over the weekend. It is a very large house for the price. The fireplace rocks! Large mantle and no smoke came back inside which is a 1st for the three rentals we've had. There is a large backyard for the dogs. Backyard is a bit rocky though so some dogs might not like it. Our two had a great time! One suggestion is to make sure you bring your own pans if you intend on cooking. Outdoor grill works fine. The kitchen is not as stocked as some others, good thing I brought my cookware! Has good water pressure and the wall heaters work well.

      Inexpensive and Cozy

Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Comfortable --- As we expected for the price --- A bit too hot during the summer days and too cold at night, but open windows during daytime and extra blankets at night do the trick. Enough room to enjoy one another's company. A short walk to the forest to take my dog for a walk...

Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in July 2011

It was very clean and comfortable inside with one full and one half bathrooms. We enjoyed the kitchen and living room combination with enough chairs and couches for everyone to watch television. It has a washer and drier. It has an outside deck with tables, chairs and barbecue grill. Great fenced in property for the dogs to run outside. Great neighborhood and location. Close enough to lake, restaurants and grocery stores. The only disadvantage: no dishwasher. I would recommend installing a dishwasher.

      Fun Cabin for Spring Break!

Left on 04/08/2011 for a stay in March 2011

A group of us (college kids) rented the cabin for 2 nights and had a great time! The cabin was great! It had 2 really nice tv's with tons of channels! There is a nice deck and a cute bonus room. I loved that we could do laundry there as well. The only downside for us was the bbq. We brought all kinds of things to bbq, but you couldnt use it because the rack on the bbq was broken, but i'm sure that can be fixed by the owner. (maybe ask if it was fixed after we stayed). Other than that there are seriously like 100 vhs tapes, and a tv in every room. Great for kids, because there are a bunch of Disney movies.

We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed Pinewood Retreat as many of our guests do! We have notified the homeowner about the broken grill and are in the process of getting that fixed. I do want you to know that you could have given us a call during your stay and we could have brought you a charcoal bbq. We look forward to doing business with you in the future.

Cute Cabin, Great yard and deck, lighting needs improvement

Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010

This is a cute cabin. It is very big and has lots of movies and some games for the kids. It has a great yard. The cabin was clean, had ample towels, came with nice soaps in the bathroom. Great fireplace. Now the bad: the lighting in this cabin is horrible. Particularly in the evenings. They really need to add some floor lamps, change the lamps in the rooms and brighten it up. The kitchen is so dark you can barely see, the table is in a dark unlit corner, there is one floor lamp in the large high-ceilinged living room with an old yellow bulb and the lights in some of the rooms are just nailed to the wall. This really diminishes the charm of the place. If they fixed the lighting, the cabin would be much nicer but overall it was clean and comfortable. I would also recommend upgrading the tvs in the bedrooms but this is a minor issue.
