      Clean, cozy and spacious

Left on 03/21/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at Cozy Castle. House is big, airy, in great condition. Loved the high ceilings and open beams. Bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen immaculate. There's a cute little sledding hill across the street.

We stayed here with friends. House was perfect for our size group (four adults plus four kids) - but a larger group might find the accommodations a little tight.

A few tiny glitches came up during our stay (i.e, no hot pads/oven mitts provided in kitchen) but Big Bear Cool Cabins manager (Patrisha Larkin) was very capable & responsive and moved quickly to fix any problems.

On the day of our departure, we packed up in a hurry and accidentally left a few items behind (boy's jackets, etc). Big Bear Cool Cabins mailed us the items at no charge to us. We thought this was a really nice gesture.

This was a fun, cozy vacation that exceeded our expectations on all fronts!

      Family Xmas vacation

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in December 2013

This place had plenty of room. There is hide away beds in each of the there rooms closets. Kids loved the snow fights out front and in the back yard. Very close to a place for the little ones to go sliding don a hill in a tube. Kitchen was nice plenty of stuff to cool with. Having the laundry room was nice and they worked with no problems. The TV in the living room is newer the rest in the bedrooms are all older. All of them had good selection of channels. Fireplace was gas so no need to buy wood. All in all my family had a great time. If there was anything I would have wanted to be better I would say a good thorough cleaning (Beds were dusty), and even after I asked big bear cabin employees.numerous times about the drive way being plowed it was never done. We did not have any problems pulling in the driveways with a two wheel drive although it would have just been nice to have it done. Would I do.org again absolutely great location, nice house plenty of room, just give me clean sheets next time with a scraped driveway.

      Good place to stay.

Left on 10/29/2012 for a stay in October 2012

Overall I am pleased with the 2 nights we stayed at Cozy Castle. We were in Big Bear for Oktoberfest and this cabin is within walking distance, it is a long walk but it is a straight shot down Division. The other reviewers were right first thing you want to do is start warming up the hot tub it takes a while to heat up if you don't start at noon it will not be warm by that evening. There were some cobwebs but overall the cabin was clean. The kitchen was well stocked with pans and bowls so making breakfast was easier. It is one of the better cabins we have stayed in over the last 9 years of going to Oktoberfest.

      Great family experience!

Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Kitchen was very modern and had nice appliances as well as all of the cookware you could possibly need. The house is in nice condition and was located within walking distance of the lake. The house included a foosball table, pool table, dart board, poker table and chips, ping pong table, lawn bowling and a jacuzzi which kept the kids entertained all week!
Couple of negatives though... The jacuzzi took forever to heat initially. There were quite a few ants running around. The top oven did not work but it was fixed and broke again immediately. The ping pong table was not in great shape. It was made clear that none of the houses had air conditioning which was the only big problem. Even with all of the windows open in the house, upstairs remained hot all day and through the night which made it difficult to sleep in.

All in all our family enjoyed our stay and would definitely do it again! The kids asked us when we could come back as soon as we left.

      Great Cabin for Family Fun!

Left on 06/29/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We had a blast hanging out at this cabin. The yard was beautiful and there was plenty of space for our family reunion. Not very "kid friendly" inside the house though(the stairs are long and steep and the banister was broken where a toddler might hang on for balance, but we just put up baby gates.) We did get some ants in the kitchen, but we were able to get rid of them with the spray under the sink. Plus, it's the mountains. What do you expect? Everything else was great! We enjoyed the stereo systems with iPod hookups to the speakers but mostly we enjoyed the upstairs with the pool table/foosball and fully functioning wet bar! :)

      Mediocre accommodations

Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Overall, we did have a great time in Big Bear. The house we rented had pluses and minuses. On the plus side, it was spacious and the rooms were perfect for our needs. The kids loved playing pool and foozball and darts and the sledding across the street was fun. On the "could be better side", the house was a bit run-down and not too clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, the sofa and couch were broken and the pots and pans in the kitchen were so scratched up that the non-stick coating was coming off. The floors were a little grimy as well. And the hot tub smelled like smelly feet. We were also disappointed that the driveway was not plowed when we got there. Our minivan got stuck getting into the driveway and we had to call the rental office for someone to come plow the driveway. The plastic shovel at the house was not very effective at getting through the thick ice. To their credit the rental office did have a very nice person come out to clean things off. In addition, I would recommend including more clear directions on how to use certain things in the house. The directions for the VCR in the main room were not clear at all. I thought the house was not worth the price we paid.
