      Nice but not 100%

Left on 02/11/2013 for a stay in January 2013

The main couch in the living was a little out dated and uncomfertable and there was no happy medium to the heater. In the bed room it was really cold with only a bright space heater which made in it to sleep due to the light and it constantly turned on and off. Also could not get the hot tub to heat up which was a big disappointment, cause that was the reason for booking the place. All other amenities were adiquite and we still enjoyed our stay. Would just looking for a different place and ask more question.

      I didn't want to leave

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We loved this place it was great nice a cozy the only thing was the couch bed you could feel every spring in the mattress . The mattress in the room I thought was good at but the side my partner slept on had a hole Rey kept rolling into. I also wasn't to sure about the hot tub being so close to the neighbors house but it ended working out great because no one was next door ... This little cozy place served its purpose and it filled it's name romantic getaway

I would change the title of the cabin

Left on 02/16/2012 for a stay in February 2012

With a title like Romantic Getaway one would assume the cabin is somewhat secluded. It's not & I really feel the photos were misleading...the closest neighbors are mere feet away, the hot tub looks as if its in a hideaway spot in the photos when in reality you can actually see it from the street. Also the bed left a lot to be desired, in fact my husband ended up sleeping on the slouching couch, stating "This bed is like sleeping in a salad bowl"...How's that for romantic? Besides the above, the location is pretty awesome, minutes away from everything and the cabin was very clean & tidy. The sled kept by the back door was a plus. I would rent thorough Big Bear Cool Cabins again just not Romantic Getaway.

      Comfortable and spacious

Left on 01/25/2012 for a stay in January 2012

We came here last year and only stayed for one night. This year, we stayed for two and its a nice cabin.
The heater and fireplace works really well, so the entire living room stays warm but the room which is directly behind the heater is very cold. The owner put in a small heater but it was broken when we got there.
There was also a leak in the bathtub so we kept hearing the sound of water throughout the night.
As said before, the cabin is really nice, it's spacious and perfect for up to 4 people. The pull out couch is comfortable, there are games and a cute kitchen. It has a lot of utensils and sometimes even staples in the cupboards. (make sure to check expiration dates!)
The location was a bit of a drive to get to the slopes and the lake, but it was far enough where it was quiet and comfortable. It only took us 305 minutes by car to get to the closest vons. The whirlpool was nice and warm and even had music.
The best thing about the place was the fact it was cheap and a really cute place. The bad thing was the cold room and the constant drip of water in the bathtub.

      Clean and Cozy cabin

Left on 11/17/2011 for a stay in November 2011

This cabin was perfect for our needs. We just wanted a clean, decent looking place for a brief stay and this cabin is perfect for that. Cute and cozy inside decor and very clean. This place is a little far from any major shopping or food places, but there are a few within walking distance. The best part was the jacuzzi in the side yard. All in all, we would stay here again.

      Comfortable Cabin

Left on 09/21/2011 for a stay in September 2011

My husband and I stayed at the romantic getaway cabin for one night. It was a cozy, nice cabin close to all the attractions. The bathroom was stocked with little toiletries, and the stove for cooking was a nice touch. The only real downside we had was the hottub. It took 3 hours to heat up, and still wasn't quite hot. The lighting around the cabin at night is Scarey! I wish there was more lights so we could see around the hottub. The hottub was also under trees, and we were quite scared bugs would drop into it while we were in it. There should be a little canopy with lighting around it, because we didn't feel too comforable sitting in a hottub where we couldnt see anything around us. The staff was great, and very polite. The side window was cracked quite a bit when we got there. I enjoyed the heaters in the bathroom and in the living room, but both my husband and I felt a little on edge all night and we both didn't sleep too well. We couldn't put our finger on it, but just something about the neighborhood the cabin was in. Over all, I would stay here again with a group of people, but alone, was just a scene out of some horror movie waiting to happen with no lights on the outside of the cabin. The price to book it was pretty high also.. but I enjoyed my stay.

      Service Expectations Exceeded!

Left on 07/19/2011 for a stay in September 2010

My boyfriend and I had originally planned to spend a weekend at this cabin. He is in the military and just a few days before we were going to go, they told him that he had to work that weekend. It was such a bummer because there wouldn't be a refund cancelling that soon and we didn't but traveler's insurance. I called to see if there was any way that we could move to the next weekend. After waiting on hold for about a minute, I was so relieved to hear that they were able to move the dates without any extra charges!
The cabin was a little difficult to find late at night when we arived as the house numbers jump around a little bit.
When we got there is was very nice. Cute little place perfect for two. Not too far from the main happenings in town and the best parts of the lake.

      Okay

Left on 07/18/2011 for a stay in July 2011

The cabin was okay. It was clean inside but the outside was horrible. High weeds and grass. The hot tub is not in a private place so everyone can look at you while your inside. The lights from the living room did not work and their was no hot water. I paid extra to stay until 2:30 pm and the cleaning crew gets there at 2:00 pm. We had to tell them we were not ready yet. I would not stay here again. For the price I paid I would expect the place to be cleaner.

Left on 07/06/2011 for a stay in October 2010

My boyfriend and I rented this location for our anniversary and really enjoyed the little house and the way it was set up inside. We felt extremely at home and had planned on going out more but ended up staying in, watching movies and cooking in the cute kitchen because we were so comfy. And the jacuzzi was a big plus for us. We are keeping this as an option for our anniversary this year. I'm very glad that we rented this cabin and would recommend it to others and friends.

A great deal on the off season!

Left on 06/19/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We just got back from our stay here and we had a great time! The cabin is quite comfortable, easy to get to, and adorable. We retrieved our key from the lockbox, so didn't even need to check in/out and the only times we communicated with the employees were both our "bad" (not writing down the lock box code and later locking ourselves out while enjoying the hot tub) and they were extremely helpful, polite, and quick to fix our problems. The only complaints I have were the bed (while super comfy) seemed to be a bit lopsided, causing my boyfriend to have crooked night's sleep and the hot water heater was turned off when we got there unbeknownst to us, causing a few cold showers before we realized the problem. I cannot stress enough how enjoyable the hot tub was! It was set at 100 degrees (but it's adjustable) which is just perfect for soaking for long periods of time. If it were my property I'd hang a hammock during the warm season and provide a few more steak knives. It was difficult to cook and meals with only one weirdly shaped sharp knife. All in all, we had a great time and would book this same cabin again.

We loved the cabin we usually stay at campsites around the area, but it was a busy weekend and they were booked. This Cabin was more expensive but we sure had a great time. Auctaully I will probably rent this or another cabin in the future. If you looking for something right next to snow summit this is not it. But if you looking for something in a quiet area with nice neighbors this is great. We noticed a couple of small bugs but not much for being in the forest. I would add a nice BBQ and maybe some patio furniture if it was my property other than that its fine.

      Cleanliness

Left on 04/06/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We really liked the cabin itself. Its very cozy and we had no problems with anything. Check-in is awesome, we just showed up and used the lock box key and the place was ours. It was close to downtown Big Bear. The hot tub worked perfectly. It snowed and I cleaned the driveway and the huge berm of snow in front of the driveway. When I'm about done, its like 10 am now, they finally sent someone to clean the driveway. I wish I would have known that was in the contract, I would have called them to get their butts out sooner. We found spiders in the couch and in the bed and spider webs all around the house, yuck.

      Manager

We are so happy to hear that your enjoyed your stay at Romantic Getaway. Thank you for noting the issues with delay of snow removal and the cleanliness of the home. Snow Removals are done as quickly as possible, but with the winter weather most of Big Bears snow removal companies are very backed up due to traffic and a number of homes requiring snow removal. I have notified housekeeping to do a thorough cleaning of the home and to remove the spiders, and the spider webs. Once again thank you for taking the time to share information regarding your stay. We look forward to extending our hospitality to you in the future.

      Thank you,

Cabins and staff are great!! But no Heat in the winter...

Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011

The cabins wer clean and nice. At least ours was! Muc hbetter than a company I used last time called "bigbearvacations.com" Be careful with them!

Anyway, the staff was great, friendly and quick.

Everything was great but one thing...we had no heat, in the coldest weeknd of the year in Feb... and it was cold in the cabin. We really did not have that romantic getaway feel with repair men coming in and out through the night, lol. I was not able t oget fixed that night due to parts needed that could not be obtained at that hour of the night. So we hunkered down and froze our butts off.

The next moring , I asked for the manager to explain the issue. There was no way i was going to be happy with $450.00 / night cabin with no heat. Her name was Jackie, and she was very kind and professional. She took off a percentage of the price for that one night. i was ok with that, knowing the problem was getting fixed on the second day. She sent the repair man bac kover that day, he stated everything was u pand running and working. Well, when we got back to the cabing that second night, guess what, it still was broken.

I did not even bother to tell the manager Jackie about the second night, cause i was upset and felt I would of been rude to her, and i did not to be like that, so i just kept if quiet and went home.

All in all, will this issue keep me from coming back, not sure...

Like I said, the staff was great, Shaina and Jackie were great. The cabin was beautiful! But the heat issue was most definelty a big let down, for the price I was paying.

      Barely tolerable

Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010

To start with, the place was a dump. I can handle dated, but filthy dirty is not acceptable. It reminded me of a bad college dorm room. The carpet was crusty, the furniture looked like it came from a dump, and the shower was cracked and moldy. I had to pump my kids up on antihistamines to get through the night. The one redeemeing quality was the jacuzzi...NOT. The darn thing would not heat above 95, so we spent a miserable hour freezing until we realized that it was hopeless.

Shame on you for misrepresenting this dump and charging me over $400 for one night.
