Well let me start off by saying that me and the 6 other friends who stayed in this cabin absolutely loved it from the min we pulled up in the drive to right when we walked in! The place inside and out was so gorgeous and very very cozy! To top it off the weekend we arrived was a very cold weekend with lots of snow all over the house lawn back yard, everywhere so it made it that much more beautiful! Once we got inside the cabin we picked out rooms for the next 2 nights we stayed, unpacked and unwhinned. The cabin was a perfect size with everything you need in the kitchen and living room. The fireplace in the corner of the house made it so much more cozy, oh and the place was very very clean and tidy upon our arrival. It isn't far from the ski slops and everything was within a 10 min or less drive. My friends and I plan to make this an annual trip and we will definite like to stay at this cabin!

We had limited/no heat to our entire stay. The toilet over flowed and needed plunged the entire stay, and the hot tub was unsay. Due to cleanliness. To include, no contact for reimbursement has been made.

As you are aware, throughout your rental process we are very thorough in making sure our guests know we are here for them to help with their needs at all times. One of the ways we measure our success is how we support our guests when an unexpected adversity arises.
We want to thank you for your kind email acknowledging your appreciation of the efforts our staff made, going the extra mile, in helping to minimize your discomfort with a variety of issues that arose during your stay.
I have included your comment here, which we will share with the staff who were involved, "I will go on record to say the "Gold Rush" did everything they could to include; provided services, and materials in order to make the best of the situations."
In our continued effort to help with your concerns we feel it's important to assist in your understanding of what is appropriate for you to expect from an owner of a rental property you stay in. Our owners do not get involved, nor do they contact guests when adversities arise.
The owners of each property entrust that we assist guests with their needs when circumstances arise. In your case, we were very happy that we were able to allow you and your family to enter the property earlier than check-in time even though the spa vendor was onsite preparing the spa for your arrival. It was kind of you to thank our staff for allowing you to access the property prematurely.
As stipulated within your contract as well as mentioned to you at the time, there are extra charges for early arrivals and late departures, and, during holiday dates, adjusting times for such are usually not allowed. Our staff was extremely happy that we were able to accommodate your comfort and do so without charge.
The owner was very gracious to allow us to extend this little perk without additional charge. Also, we wish to remind you that we extended to this convenience to you prior to any problematic issue arising.
At the end of the day of your check-in, Christmas Eve - Dec. 24, it is customary for all spa vendors to report back to our office on the condition of all spas serviced that day. No spa is allowed renter access without receiving approval from the spa vendor. We were able to confirm the spa at Left of Paradise was approved for access.
Before the end of our evening, you had alerted our office of a concern regarding the heater. At that time our service personnel was dispatched to the home. Thinking ahead, with a focus on assuring your comforts, we brought along 5 bundles of wood, fire starters, and some of our color cones (these are awesome, we thought your kids would enjoy the intrigue of seeing the rainbow colors in the fire) in order to help. As we mentioned, there had been no forewarning related to a problem with the heater. At that time, the service personnel reported the problem being caused by a breaker that had been tripped. Even though we remedied this quickly we were happy to assist and wanted you to enjoy the additional items be brought with our compliments.
The morning of the 26th, our staff was contacted by you regarding the condition of the spa. As you know, the spa vendor promptly stopped by the home to assess the spa and surprisingly found the condition to need an additional servicing siting heavy use by the renter.
One of the issues we caution all our renters about, especially with an indoor spa, was not to allow children to use it as a warm pool to play in. Knowing guests that have children, in your case, four, we wanted to make sure that all our guests understand that the spa is for adults use only.
Although the spa vendor reported to our office that the additional servicing was related to heavy use by the renter and instructed our personnel to charge this extra service to your account in accordance with our agreement, in the spirit of customer service, we did not assess the extra charge to your account but absorbed it ourselves.
It is important for you to understand that we are not the spa vendor, they are a separate company - so if you did not realize that there are charges for issues such as this it is important for you to realize that we did extend a courtesy to you again. Service fees are not inexpensive, especially during holiday peak periods.
The hot tub vendor assured us that the service to the spa was approved to allow the spa to stay in service. Here again, if the spa vendor does not approve the spa condition to be acceptable and safe for access, the spa would automatically get locked down and rendered unusable to renters until the spa can be brought back to appropriate conditions. The spa was usable at all times during your stay except for the brief time required to perform the service diagnosed as heavy use by renters.
Additionally, we also visited the home numerous times during your visit for reported clogs to the toilet. These clogs were identified by the service personnel who visited the property, while you were there, as conditions created by the occupant. Including when the toilet seat was discovered broken and needed replacing.
Again, these services were performed in a timely manner, we are proud to say, especially during holiday time periods. Nevertheless, there were service fees incurred on your behalf that was never charged to your account.
We also gave more free firewood when you reported a second problem with the furnace.
Again, we know and appreciate that you had shared with us in your previous email that you have acknowledged your appreciation of our support. But it is important for you to understand not to be upset because you have not had an apology from the owner of Left of Paradise, as this is not what a renter should expect.
It is important for you to know, that the services extended to you would've been your responsibility to pay based on the end result of each problem leading back to renter caused issues.
This home, as well as all of our homes are well maintained at all times. Although it is impossible to be aware of an issue that has not presented itself before, we are confident that all of our homes are ready to welcome guests for a nice uninterrupted stay.
Unfortunately, there are times when things occur that are unforeseen or beyond our control until our guests present them to us. For times such as these, we do take pride in our responsiveness and care extended.
We can see by your expression here that you assumed there were no charges incurred for the services required during your stay. Our assumption here is because you were not charged for those services.
It is important to share with you that much of the services required during your stay was not due to any malfunction of the home or maintenance negligence but rather were for circumstances created by your group. These types of costs are customarily passed back to the renter.
Based on some inconvenience you had regarding the heater which was clearly no fault of anyone's but did present itself during the time you were in house, we did make the call to absorb service charges in acknowledgement of the second heating inconvenience.
However, we do want you to realize that the owner of the home does care for your comfort and has been told by our company that we have gone the extra mile to make your stay more comfortable as well as extend prompt service at a time of year that can be a challenge to say the least.
The only thing we can regret is that we did not share with you, until now, that there were financial assessments that were not charged to you in addition to all the free items we extended for your comforts.
Your written concern here is confusing, as there has been communication with you on multiple occasions by our staff. Of course, not by the owner of Left at Paradise, as you had requested in an earlier email.
Nonetheless, for you to emphasize a statement that "no one is responding to help fix a problem," appears to imply that you have had no contact of any kind on any level as well as no relief of any kind, financial or otherwise. This is simply not accurate.
We hope that the explanation here gives you a greater understanding and better feeling towards the circumstances in general as well as towards the concern over the lack of care on the owner of Left of Paradise's behalf relating to a concern for your comforts.
All of our owners appreciate their renters and trust that our decision to make guests comfortable is in everyone's best interest.
In the spirit of excellent customer service, we are happy to have performed in the manner that we did to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.
We want to thank you again, especially for your service to our country.

Roomy and comfortable lodge! Love the indoor jacuzz, washer, dryer & wifi! Great get away and had a wonderful vacation in the 3 bedroom lodge with kitchen, and lovely living room!

A necessary Christmas Celebration

This was a Christmas gift for the family in memory of my husband of 43 years who passed away in October. There was 7 of us and the house was big enough for personal space and everything was available. The kids loved the Bear Dome and sleeping area upstairs. Very quiet and peaceful except the noise from the kids upstairs (thin ceiling) we loved the experience. The owners left a detailed folder on table with locations of everything and activities to do.(Take a few minutes and read through it) There is a shelf full of games to play, so we played games everynight in front of a beautiful fire with hot chocolate. First year without Grandpa was easlier with Left at Paradise. Thank you

Affordable accommodations were wonderful however, we were disappointed about the condition of the spa even after aA demanded the spa people come back and check the chemicals. The home is charming, clean and very comfortable. I enjoyed the notebook of things to do and the history of the cabin. Wld love to return in the Spring to see the backyard in bloom!

Yes, Left of Paradise has a beautiful back yard, full of blooms in the Spring. The front yard also has many, many, tulips etc. The owner takes much pride in their cabin.
We are sorry about the spa. The professionals who care for the unit has given their approval for all being fine. Upon visual inspection and chemical balances all checks are appropriate. The spa has been an enjoyable amenity in this cabin by many renters.

Absolutely clean, comfortable and fun!. We enjoyed our stay more than any other cabin we have rented in the past. The cabin had TVs in every room, the bar-b-q was conected to the property's gas line, the fireplace worked like a charm, firewood was provided, very comfortable jaquzzi, and when they claimed it slept 11 comfortably, they meant it. Fully stocked kitchen with everything available, all the towels we needed with a very good quality washer and dryer. We have never seen such amazing accomodations!

kids saw too many spider webs in the room and we had to remove them. We kind of expect little bigger than that. but, it wasn't that bad.

Everything about our overnight stay was comfortable and professional from reservations to checkout. The cabin was clean, very nicely decorated and equipped, and accommodated 9 (including kids) very comfortably. The location in BB city is ok (no views) but the cabin itself is good. And kids loved the jacuzzi while adults enjoyed the fireplace.

When we first checked in we thought someone was currently living there. Books, writing utensils and pictures in our view. very welcoming and comfy. We were a bit unhappy with the unavailable 2nd driveway that we viewed online prior to booking the vacation home. However the staff made it clear that the plow could'nt take the snow in or out anymore than it already did. thankfully the neighbors allowed us to park 2 of the cars that had nowhere to park in their vacant driveway. Unfortunately we had to have one of the cars park in the CVS Parking lot and shuttle them to the house.....the jacuzzi was nice after a long day of activities and the kitchen was conveniently stocked. Would definitely stay at this vacation home again. Staff is busy but extremely nice!

We are sorry for any inconvenience you had to endure during your stay due to the amount of snow. As you know we had record snow falls that literally paralized Big Bear and the surrounding communities for some time. Once the snow turns to ice it is difficult to say the least in getting these mountains to a managable size.
