Cute, cozy, and comfortable. Way better than staying at a generic hotel. We loved this awesome Getaway.
Cozy relaxing getaway!

We loved the cabin, it was charming and clean. The location was great and the staff at Big Bear Vacation rentals were friendly and helpful. Would stay again for sure. Only advice is to warn parents with toddlers that the cabin has a heating grate in the ground that gets hot and could be trouble for little ones. Also the stairs were a bit steep for little ones.

House was clean and tidy. The TV needs to be a little bit bigger since one could barely see it based on how far the couches are placed from the TV. The tv was as big as my computer monitor. Bathroom and kitchen were clean and the right sq footage. Felt I had no privacy with the lack of curtains in the cabin. Fireplace was excellent! I've stayed at cabins before and this one( which was not the original one I booked since the one I had was cancelled on me less than a week before- poor planning on big bear vacations' part) did not meet mine or my best friend's expectations. This is a very cozy cabin and is a favorite among our guests. Please note that as of April 2013, there is a new 32" flat screen tv and new curtains :) This cabin is very clean and neat but I do apologize it did not meet your expectations. Thank you for your feedback, we always appreciate that so we are able to improve our services moving forward.
Most adorable cabin

We love this cabin. It was our second time staying there. It isn't your typical cheap cabin, decorated with bear motifs and mismatched thrift store furniture from the 80's. You can tell that the owner takes pride in the interior design of the cabin. I only have two minor complaints. It would have been nice to have been able to use the fire pit in the backyard. It seemed like the key to turn on the gas fire pit was missing. Also, the bed in a room by itself could use a squishy mattress cover. It was too hard and ended up sleeping on the couch the second night of my stay. Also would recommend bring a table cloth for the backyard table. It was cute but a bit splintery. It made it difficult to play cards out there. Overall, this cabin is close to perfect. It would be a nice place to live.

We liked the home, it has a great kitchen, stocked even w/ spices and a really nice welcome on the chalk board. Very pleasant back yard, dog safe. Neighborhood pleasant for walking dog, close to everything. Rooms upstairs are cute, beds are average, but arrangement is just cozy and nice
Tv's are small, but who cares, the home was stocked w/ lots of old good videos and games and a fireplace. really, has it all.
Pleasant family mini-vacation

Location is convenient. The bathroom is surprisingly clean. Kitchen is equipped. However, the charcoal grill is about to fall apart. It's great stay overall!
Not So awesome

The cabin was not very appealing from the outside and finding it was confusing.
The inside was somewhat a warm welcoming. Furniture was clean but the 17" TV was not a good fit especially when you're trying to entertain a toddler. I like the living room, kitchen, bathroom and eating area. The bedrooms were cleaned but I felt a little suffocated. The mattress were horrible to sleep on; it felt like a log. Important bathroom/kitchen items were available as needed. but it sucks that we had to haul our own trash out and wash kitchen items after :(...it was supposed to be a short getaway.
Overall, it was nice. The cabin could do a little updating with the TV and mattress. For the price, we expected more comfort. Read more
Thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately because of our mountain critters, we do still require trash to be removed and dishes to be cleaned but we wanted you to know that since you were here, this owner has installed a new 32" flat screen tv and new queen beds. We truly hope to have you back again soon!
Wouldn't be my 1st choice

Check-in was a breeze. Nice fireplace. Lights on the house at night were a pretty touch. Thanks for the toiletries. Cabin was located in Big Bear City, not Big Bear Lake, so off the beaten path. We drove back and forth a few times. Depending on time of day traffic can get congested.
Some things we thought were essential were missing. There were no potholders and only one towel in the kitchen. It was unsafe to try and get anything out of the oven without those. There was no dishwasher soap - really? Who would think to bring that with them if a dishwasher is provided? Maybe there can be a list from now on of items people will need but are not provided. There was only 1 extra roll of toilet paper for 4 females for a weekend. 2 extras would have been better. There was only 1 bar of soap. 2 would have allowed one to be used in the shower and one at the sink.
Back yard could have used some weed abatement. Some were knee-high. It was obvious that no one had done anything back there since the snow melted.
I agree that the livingroom TV is too small. Fitting 6 people would have been tight! There wasn't sitting room in the livingroom for 6. We enjoyed getting up to the mountains for a getaway - just would stay elsewhere next time. Read more
What to bring...
Located un the "Guest Services" tab is our FAQ section on our webpage that states the following;
What amenities should I expect and what should I bring?
Each of our homes and cabins is different though most have these basic things in common.
The kitchen will have at minimum the essential items to cook and eat a meal. Plates, cups, silverware, pots and pans are all provided for you by the homeowner however anything above and beyond this is extra and will depend on your choice of home. If you require specialty items to cook with we recommend you bring those along. Other kitchen items we recommend you bring include paper towels, dish soap, foil, Tupperware and baggies.
Each bathroom will have clean towels, wash clothes, hand towels, and bath mats for the guests as well as a small selection of soap, shampoo and conditioner. We do not require the home to have hair dryers, irons and ironing boards.
Each bed setup may be different however they will all have fresh linen provided. We recommend you to bring extra blankets if you are coming in the winter and not used to cold mountain nights.
Great cabin for the whole family!

It was our first time ever going to big bear, the drive was great. When we arrive at our cabin we were so excited and it was exctly what we expected! the only thing is that they have a 19" TV in the living room. Not a good size TV to watch movies with the whole family. Also, bring paper towels, plastic plates, plastic forks you need them! as u have to wash all the dishes before yo leave. I don't understand if they have house keeping why they can't wash the dishes! uhhh!! we are on vacation, we wives need a break from washing dishes! lol...ohh by the way you have to take our own trash before you leave! what a drag. We had to load it in the back of our car, in top of all our things. But overall it was a nice, clean cabin. Will defenitely come back next year.

I took my family to the cabin to celebrate my fathers birthday, we had an epic time. The pictures of the cabin don't do it justice. The cabin fits 6 comfortably, the cabin is stocked with extra blankets, the heater works, there is a gas fire pit in the backyard along with a BBQ/Smoker. There are pots, pans, plates and a dishwasher! The only thing I would like to see upgraded is the TV. Aside from that I would recommend this cabin to my friends & family. Thank you Dana & Big Bear Vacations!

My family and I had a great weekend at #1152! It was everything you expect a mountain cabin to be. Lovely fireplace, very cozy cabin, nice and clean. We especially liked the backyard as there was plenty of room for the kids to sled. We had originally planned on going to a tubing place, but there was no need as the kids were having too much fun in our own backyard. "Big Bear Vacation" was the best. We were so happy with their service. When we first arrived, the lights would not work. BBV was out within 15 minutes to fix the problem. The amenities were plentiful. We were able to fix very nice meals. There were games to play, which we had fun with. Our only complaint was that the one bed was uncomfortable and we would have preferred fitted sheets as the sheets came undone. So we would definitely recommend staying at #1152. We can't wait to go again. Thank you Big Bear Vacation.

We went up for some skiing for my birthday and it was a great time. We went during the week so the weekend chaos was gone and we had a wonderful time I have no complaints. My dogs only complaint was that the fenced backyard was full of snow about 4ft. :) The only thing I recommend if you are staying here for the snow season, bring a shovel to dig your way into the backyard.

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Awesome Getaway. It is the perfect cabin for our family of 6 plus dog. It has the 'classic' cabin in the mountains feel. Red cabin, wood framed windows, large fireplace, wide pine floors, adorable kitchen and eating area. Christmas was charming and fun as the kids went sledding just behind the house on the hillside as well as the back yard.
The accomodations were clean, the house had all the needed amenities. The full size beds were a bit small for some of our family members, but we should have known that. The location was ideal, not too far away - close to everything.
Thank you for a wonderful xmas 2009 - we'll be back!

The house was quaint and cute. We had so much fun. The yard was large. It
felt like home. It was a wonderful way to spend Thanksgiving. We were even
surprised with some snow, which made the stay even more enjoyable!
