I am not a complainer when it comes to rating cabins or hotel rooms because it is just a place to stay. However when it comes to planning a family vacation with your kids, mother and a few close family members it's embarrassing when things are broken, the place is dirty, and hardly any dishes. I was bragging about the nice cabin I rented for my mom for her Xmas gift. What a bummer. My mom swears there were bed bugs. Things were so dirty. And lots of broken closets. Tv was 13inches, old school and falling off the broken shelf...it was all way to expensive for what we got!!! Also there was no toiletries. I had to call and ask for TP after I got back from grocery store

Not Impressed
San Diego CountyCabin was avergae, Kitchen Set-up Poor
Left on 01/11/2012 for a stay in January 2012
The 3 bedroom and 2 bath cabin layout and furniture was good. Big table for playing games, dinners etc. What we didn't like is the kitchen did not have the basics. We noticed when we first arrived there were not enough plates, mugs or glasses for 8. Also not enough towels. We called management and they did immediately bring additional towels and kitchen items. However, the kitchen items came directly from a store and we had to wash them all. Not the best way to start your vacation. Also when we tried to cook dinner we realized we didn't have a colander to drain pasta, any measuring cups or meas. spoons and no pot holders! We ended up having to make several trips to the store for kitchen basics. Also was not impressed with the bed linens. A top sheet was used on all the bottom mattresses and there was no pad. Every morning we would wake up on the actual mattress as the sheets didn't stay on the bed.

Victorville, CAwow what a wonderful 4 day stay
Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in November 2011
The cabin was awesome, and my daughter and husband and grandchildren just loved it..me too! It was immaculate when I arrived, heat was on, the jacuzzi was hot and there was even shampoo and hand creme on the bathroom sink. Lots of towels, especially since we had the jacuzzi and I really appreciated that with four kids under the age of 8. There was Direct TV! Wow...I had not expected that at all and everyone was happy about that. So we are very pleased and thank you to the staff for making this a wonderful birthday for my daughter as well as a great Thanksgiving Holiday. Brent told me everything would be perfect and it was.

Within walking distance of the oktoberfest location, this was the perfect place for a quick weekend up. The hot tub was great, really home-y fireplace and good sized bedrooms. I only wish i had an extra day or two. The amount/types of pots, pans, utensils was lacking and the TV was embarrassingly out of date. I personally didn't find the beds that comfortable as they were too soft. I think there was a memory foam topper.
I would definitely stay here again. Great value. I would like to come back in the winter. -

Place was nice. dishes were dirty, pots and pans in horrible condition (teflon pealing off); eggs on th eside of one of the pans. No a/C, but we had requested a fan which was great.
Really nice place, but they need to replace the pots and pans & leves 2 days worth of dishwaing detergent. 1 roll of paper towels would have been nice too, and possibly a kitchen towel or two..
One thing not your fault, neighbor wa up saturday morning at 7:00am buidiling a storage shed. With no a/c you had to have the windows opens. very noisy.
Also, master bed room still had last persons trash in teh room. A green tea bottle & a tag to a dress or somthing. And although there was a tv cabinet in the masted, no tv...a bit misleading. Also tv in living, well, my lap top screen is better. Need new tv too. -

Disappointed
Corona CaPoor preperation/readiness for visitor arrival
Left on 11/04/2010 for a stay in October 2010
I rented this cabin based on location and the spa. Arrived to a cold spa that took 24 hours to heat before I could use. Loss of one whole day. House was cold and had to wear jacket for first couple hours. Excessive needles and tarp on deck was obvious that no one had done anything to prepare cabin for my arrival. Had to go to office to get an extra kitchen towel as we had only one. Were given a bath hand towel as they did not have anymore kitchen towel. Blinds on dinning room and masterbedroom missing slats and had to dress in dark as everyone can see in. As small role of papertoels to start would have been nice or a list of what one might want to bring so your nor spending half a day shopping. Dinning room chair so broken, when you moved it, it completely fell appart and you needed to put it back together like a puzzel. And god forbid you did not put it back as you would be fined $25 or whatever. Last, to have your guest load up 3 days of trash with their clothes and belongings in there car and haul 4 miles is absurd. What are we paying a clean up fee for. Would you haul your own trash from a hotel?

The service we received from Big Bear Vacation Rentals was so-so. It was not what I expected for the $$$ I paid. When you pay the kind of money you pay for a cabin & you do research on and it has the amenities you want & they don’t work you should be compensated but Big Bear Vacation Rentals never asked one question or even bothered to say anything when I informed them of the issues we were having. It was kind of like OK that’s Nice (like a listening ear for you to vent to). Even when I dropped the key off they never even asked how my stay was or anything they just took the key and went about their day. They did send maintenance for 2 of our issues but nothing came out of it. It was like they don’t work, OK, that’s it.
The Cabin was VERY cute but in the pictures provided by Big Bear Vacation Rentals, where very misleading. The cabin looked secluded and it was far from it. There was a cabin on both side and in the back. But it was quaint. On the inside it was perfect for our family of 7 and it fit us all nicely. We did come across some issues upon moving around and figuring everything out. 1st the DVD player did not work (called maintenance and they could not get it to work either so they left). As well the (one and only) T.V. was maybe 20” it was the worlds tiniest TV and oldest. My kids had to sit 2 ft from it to see it. 2nd The Jacuzzi was not clean and did not work, Maintenance came out and cleaned it and came out 2 times to turn it on but no did not every get warm. 3rd said there was a charcoal BBQ NO there was NOT. 4th The electrical outlets in the bathroom did not work (had to call maintenance again). 5th the water pressure in the master bath was a trickle so you had to shower either in the guest bath or take a speed shower to avoid freezing in the master. The cabin was cute and I picked it due to all the amenities. The only thing I liked about this vacation was being with my family. If it were not for my family I would have raised hell and left. -

Norwalk, CAVery Nice Cabin
Left on 04/22/2010 for a stay in April 2010
The cabin was great. It has a nice open kitchen and dining area. There was only one tv which was fine with us but it may be something to keep in mind when booking this cabin. Also, you may want to bring extra sheets and blankets if you plan on using the sofa bed. But over all, the cabin was perfect for us.

Bakersfield, CaGreat Cozy Cabin!!
Left on 03/25/2010 for a stay in March 2010
The people at Big Bear Vacations were great, very friendly and checking in/out was quick and easy. This cabin was perfect for us, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was stocked and it was clean. We especially loved the big dining room table and the jacuzzi! The Cabinb was decorated really nice and with the fireplace it really felt like home. The Cabin was easy to get to and close to the main road. The only problem was that when there is snow it is very difficult to park 2 large trucks or SUV's. Overall, I would stay here again and I recommend Sugar Pine.

The cabin was nice and overall we enjoyed our stay, but I have a few suggestions to improve peoples stay.
1. There were no extra trash bags only the one when we arrived.
2. There was only one roll of toilet paper.
3. There are only one extra blanket for the sofa bed.
4. There was no T.V. in master bedroom as advertised.
If you make people aware of the limits mentioned one could better prepare prior to arrival. -

Orange County, CA1 Night at Sugar Pine
Left on 01/15/2010 for a stay in January 2010
The home was only about 5 minutes from Bear Mt and the rental office. Overall very nice and clean, however the BBQ was no where to be found! Also the kitchen was very bare...did not have any of the basics that would be expected (paper towels, dish soap, cooking oil, etc) you need to bring everything yourself.
Hot tub was HOT on arrival! Beds were comfortable and clean. Bathroom amenities (shampoo, soap) were minimal.
