      It needs a deep cleaning

Left on 02/02/2012 for a stay in January 2012

This cabin needs to be deep cleaned. The management was very responsive to our needs and offered the cleaning service to come back out, but it seems like it has only had a quick cleaning by the cleaning service for years. The cupboards were grimy & the carpet was disgusting. Why they do not allow pets is beyond me- there can not be anymore damage to the carpets. It is a large cabin in a great location, it just needs some TLC. The jacuzzi worked great. We were concerned about this from previous reviews, but it was great. They really should deep clean it or charge less.

      well...could be better

Left on 12/11/2011 for a stay in December 2011

Well, we were there just for one night, Thank God... the place is dirty and dusty, everything's old and TV was broken, The heater didn't work on the upper floor, the pool table was tiny. Extremely overpriced! Towels were grey, not white! The jacuzzi and a fireplace were awesome though!
Do not waste your time and money on this cabin.

      Very few complaints

Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011

Overall, it was okay. There were only a few setbacks:

#1. Check-in was a pain. I waited in line for 10 minutes just to be told to go fill out some forms on a computer and then get back in line. I felt like I was at the DMV!

#2.The reservationist promised me that we would "definitely" need chains to go down the mountain and after we got them on, we had to take them off a mile later when we discovered that chains were not needed.

#3. The bbq is charcoal which is not very convenient when it's snowing.

      #4. The toaster is broken.

#5. The railing leading up to the third floor is also broken.

      #6. No ice trays

#7. The "pool table" is childs size and there is only one good pool stick.

#8. The shower upstairs wouldn't turn off

#9 You have to tap the tv downstairs a few times in order for it to work.

      The positives:

      Location

      Hot tub

      Spacious

      Nice kitchen table

Couches on the 2nd floor were nice, so was the tv.

      Sleeps a lot of people

      Plenty of parking

      Ski Slope View (partial)

Great Place for a Bunch of College Kids

Left on 01/13/2011 for a stay in January 2011

Place was pretty good and cheap split up between a bunch of college kids. I wont say the exact number but you get the picture. Held 5 cars in the parking lot which was a plus. 3 Story house. Bottom floor was a little cold but had the pool table 2 couches. Middle floor which was the main floor had the master bedroom with queen bed, bathroom with shower, kitchen, big dinning table for beer pong, 2 couches around the TV, fireplace, and the door to the 6 person hot tub. Upstairs we had 2 bed rooms. One with a full size bunk bed top and bottom and another queen bed. Also there was another bed underneath the bunk bed that we used as well. The other room on the top floor had 2 queen beds and enough room to fit another full size air mattress. There was also another bathroom upstairs. Plenty of blankets and utensils to use. Overall a great place to stay at for the weekend. Had a blast with my friends. No real complaints except for the bottom floor being a little cold at night.

      3.5 stars to be exact

Left on 12/29/2010 for a stay in December 2010

We stayed at Moonlight Chalet for 3 nights during the Christmas Weekend. When we arrived, the check-in was remarkably fast. The online check-in system is very covenient. From our past experience, we saved 10 mins. We left the check-in office, and drove to the property. The drive is relatively short, but the location of the house is not that great, especially during the snowy conditions. The house is situated in between a hill, so if you do not have 4-wheel drive, it will be especially tougher and even with the snow chains, the drive out of the driveway will be tough. When we got into the house, we noticed that there was a carpet area under the stairs that were completely drenched. I'm guessing that it was from the recent snowing that occurred before our arrival. The second floor is the coziest, and it is probably the best area of the house. Their is a fireplace next to the tv, and it was nice to get the fireplace going. However, if you are going to cook, prepare to rewash all cookware and utensils. Some of the cookware has an oily substance on them from poor dishwashing. All the rooms are pretty standard. Our stay was pretty good, but it was not like a "Wow", but more like we'll take it if there is nothing better type of deal. I probably would not come back to this place.

Good location, has general deferred maintenance to home

Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in December 2009

Our family has vacationed in Big Bear for the past 5 years and normally stay at a friends home in the same area but needed a larger setting this year. The customer service was extremely friendly and welcoming. While we were pleased with the location, we were dissapointed by the interior of the home. Specifically, the carpet was stained, there was mold in one of the bathrooms, a large tear in the downstairs sofa, very little heat on the bottom and top floor of the home, wallpaper tears along the staircase, blinds had broken/missing parts, the comforters looked very worn, the kitchen was missing a few items that one would think would be in a kitchen (ie, no colander, lids to the pots, plastic wrap), the plates and cups were not clean and there were cigarette butts and empty beer cans on the deck when we arrived.
I notified a representative when I returned the key and she was attentive to my concerns. While I would try their company again, I would not rent this home again.

      Sad, but true

Left on 12/02/2009 for a stay in November 2009

We made the reservation online and all we had to go
on were the photos on the website. From what we
saw, it looked like a perfect cabin for the 6 of us
going. But unfortunately, not too long after
arrival we slowly started noticing all the things
wrong with the place. The home was EXTREMELY dusty
everywhere, to the point that most of us slept over
the bed covers and used the few blankets we had
taken with us. The heater only worked on the 2nd
floor making the bedroom on that floor only warmest
room, while the other 2 bedrooms on the third floor
were constantly freezing. The faucet on the 3rd
floor which was missing a knob burst the second day
we were there causing a leak on the ceiling of the
living room. Had to wait for the plumber = missed
snow boarding that day. Lastly, one of us noticed a
water bottle or 2 and some other debris under one
of the beds upon on arrival, ignored it, but ended
up getting charged for leaving trash behind when we
can assure you that we left the cabin in pristine
      condition when we left.

The only positive thing I can say about the place
was that it had a jacuzzi which surprisingly worked
pretty well. All in all, we were completely
dissatisfied with our stay at this cabin.

      Should be Main Street Cabin

Left on 08/26/2009 for a stay in August 2009

I booked this cabin for one week, and expected it to be in the 'mountains'. Well, it was, indeed, but on a very busy street, with trucks passing by from early morning to late at night. Not exactly the quiet retreat I had in mind.

Then, to top it all off, they insist you check out at 11 am, bring your own trash first to a remotely located approved trash area, and at 10:30 the hot tub guy shows up to clean it for the next customers, and you have smelly chemicals in your face while packing.

In addition, they had a pool table, but only 1 working pool cue. The rest had no tips. All the lamp shades were scotch-taped on, the window shades were mostly broken, and the stove rocked back and forth so much that you couldn't boil water. So, someone needs to work on maintenance checks.

Anytime in the mountain area is relaxing, but for the amount of money I paid, and the total experience, it was a disappointment.

By the way, if you don't like rock-hard pillows, bring your own, and if you like nice sheets, also bring your own. Oh, and want a table cloth for the outside dining room table? None is provided, so again, bring your own.

      OUR FAMILY GETAWAY

Left on 03/12/2009 for a stay in August 2008

THIS WAS AN AWESOME VACATION AND A GREAT PLACE TO REUNITE WITH MY FAMILY, MY DAUGHTER WHO LIVES IN NY, AND MY STEPDAUGHTER AND HER BOYFRIEND.
      THE RESIDENCE WAS SPACIOUS, AIRY,
AND VERY BREATHTAKING... IT WAS VERY RESTFUL AND PROVED TO BE A VERY REWARDING TIME FOR BONDING WITH THE FAMILY...ESPECIALLY FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER LAUREN...
AS FOR MY GAL PEGGY, IT WAS
GREAT BECAUSE IT GAVE US QUALITY TIME TOGETHER AND A PLACE TO FORGET ABOUT THE DAILY ROUTINE...
THE HOME WAS FILLED WITH LAUGHTER, AND LOVE... THE HOME WAS LARGE ENOUGH SO THAT EVERYONE WERE ABLE TO DO THEIR OWN THING, AND COME AND GO AS THEY PLEASED. THE HOME OFFERED A SPECTACULAR VIEW OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD, AND BIG BEAR MOUNTAINS....IF I COULD HAVE STAYED LONGER I WOULD HAVE... I WOULD SUGGEST THAT YOU SHOULD STAY AT LEAST A WEEK TO BE ABLE TO SEE ALL THAT BIG BEAR HAS TO OFFER AS A VACATION AREA.....

      Comfortable and cozy

Left on 01/08/2009 for a stay in December 2008

We happened to pick the perfect week to vacation in Big Bear; record snow just before and perfect weather during. Moonlight Chalet had plenty of room for 6 adults. Everyone was warm and comfortable. With two fireplaces we didn't need the heater much at all (top floor bedrooms were a bit cool at night but there were enough blankets provided). Kitchen was well equipted, jacuzzi was ready for use, slopes close and easy to get to. We picked this home because it is pet friendly. Very clean and furnished nicely. A+

Not a big problem, but FYI:
Smoke from upstairs fireplace comes into house through downstairs fireplace with just a slight breeze outside.

Oven broiler door falls off easily.

      Cozy essentials

Left on 07/10/2008 for a stay in December 2007

We spent a weekend here and had a good time. This was the first time
we rented a place like this and we will definitely do it again. It was nice
to have all the family under the same roof and the comfort and privacy
of our own entertainment room, family room and kitchen. The location
was great and convenient because it was easy to get to and close to
stores, shops, parks, etc. The only thing we would recommend is
bringing your own sheets and towels, and since it is carpeted you
might want to reconsider it if you have any allergies. We also
appreciated having pots, pans, dishes, cups and a coffee machine to
      use.

      Nice Place to Stay

Left on 03/07/2008 for a stay in February 2008

The cabin was clean and in good condition. I liked the location being near skiing, but in a neighborhood area. I would choose this cabin again.

My only complaint was with the booking agency. The cabin sleeps 10 adults, but I was only notified after booking that just 3 cars were allowed. That created a car pool problem. Then when we got to the cabin, the sign on the cabin said 5 cars were allowed. Although the people at the check in office were nice and polite, it seemed a bit chaotic.
