We stayed here for 2 night in Dec 6,7 2013. We arrived to the cabin at 16:00 and were unable to check in until 21:00 due to a "gassy smell" in the cabin. I left for dinner and came back and the "gassy smell" was still there. After repeated phone calls with the front office someone was sent out to check the cabin and he discovered that the previous renter had turned the heater and oven pilots off. The cabin itself was rather old and had several things wrong with it. The chimney screen was torn completely apart so we did not have a fire while we were over there and had to depend on the heater. The shower was only good for 2 people back to back (I am not talking about 15-20 min showers either)the water ran out both nights and would have to wait for a few hours to warm up again. The dryer in the kitchen would not dry at all. The futon in the living room was wobbly and un-even (made for a terrible night sleep). The Sofa couch was in the same condition that the futon was in and had bumps in the mattress and sunk in the middle. Toilet would not flush properly (no man sized jobs). The pots, pans, dishes were rusty, dirty and had been put away in this order. For sanitary reason we preferred to eat out every day than cook there. The rocking chair did not rock ( broken and dropped me on my a*&).In short terms I would not recommend this cabin to anyone. The renters should check the cabin out before renting to someone else and make sure that everything is in working condition.
The location of the cabin was the best thing about it. I was close to the fun play in big bear ( about a 2 minute drive) and all the restaurants were real close by big bear lake was about 5 minute driver from here. There was snow that weekend that made us forget about the cabin. Read more
We appreciate your feedback on the cabin. We will forward your concerns to the owner to get those issues rectified. We look forward to welcoming you back to Big Bear and Big Bear Cool Cabins!
Perfect size and great price

The cabin was great, aside from a few negatives.
Pros: good size; great location to Oktoberfest; clean; warm; great price
Cons: limited parking (2); oven didn't work; toilet didn't flush properly (had to remove cover and pull cord every time); the kitchen sink was leaking and drywall underneath sink is rotted and moldy (holes in the drywall under sink was stuffed with plastic grocery bags...really?)
These things should definitely be fixed before renting out to people. It produces a huge health hazard. Other problem was I emailed them from my phone telling them the internet wasn't working and asked how to fix it. They never did respond, even till this day. We got it to work by resetting the router. It was really about the fact that when we had a problem they didn't respond.
Besides that, it was really an overall good experience. The cons are really just nit picky things. They didn't really bother me, but I just had to list them for people who would really care about these issues. It's a great getaway cabin.
Nice Little Cabin

The cabin itself was nice and cozy. I recommend it for small groups.
My review is not so much about the cabin but about the interesting little surprise we received when we got to it. The posting for the cabin originally said 2 bathrooms but when we got there we could only find one!!! We went online to check the posting and it had been changed. This is pretty absurd. I do not know how they thought it was okay to change the posting without prior knowledge. I specifically picked that cabin because it said 2 bathrooms.
Other than that the experience was nice. They even let us check in pretty early. That I really appreciated.
Booking was really frustrating, but The Charming Cabin was amazi

Booking through "Big Bear Cool Cabins" was an awful experience. We thought we had a fairly simple request: we wanted to put half of the payment on one card, half on the other. One card was overcharged, then both cards were overcharged. And they said that it would take 30 days to refund the money. Since it was around Christmas, this was hard to swallow. The worst part about it was when I called to let them know what had happened, no one sounded apologetic at all. One representative even said "well we don't usually do this so", as if it was our fault that they said they could. It was beyond frustrating. So I wouldn't recommend trying to split the payment between 2 cards. That being said, The Charming Cabin was so lovely. It was even better than we imagined it would be. It immediately felt like home. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us. The kitchen was big enough for us to make a great Christmas dinner, and everything was really comfortable. Everything worked really well: the heater, the appliances, the TV, the fireplace etc. The location is great, close enough for a quick ride to restaurants, stores, the little town, and the slopes. Also, when we needed help with the stove, they sent someone out to our cabin within 30 minutes, which was really great. There is no wifi, but there is a cable for internet. All 4 of us really enjoyed our stay & we were really grateful to have spent the holiday in such a great place.
