Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in October 2011

I usually go through Cool Cabins but thought I would give Big Bear Vacations a chance but not happy with the out come. The people I dealt with were wonderful but the rules and regulations are beyond expectations. It actually became a joke with my family, oh don't touch that it's a $25 fine, oh don't do that it's a $25 fine...and the cabin didn't seem to have as many amenities as I have come acustom to with Cool Cabins. Way more expensive as well don't think I will be doing this again.

Walk way into the cabin Surrounding area is beautiful

Left on 10/19/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Me and my friends came up to Big Bear for the Oktoberfest. This cabin was perfect for the 5 of us. The area was really beautiful and we had a great time staying here.

We liked the cabin and had a good time except for the fact that the kitchen light did not work and there was no hot water. The beds are very uncomfortable :-(

Great weekend getaway with family and kids

Left on 09/01/2011 for a stay in August 2011

Our weekend getaway in Big Bear was great. We always wanted to travel there and we finally made the time. We only stayed for two days but we made the most of it. We took advantage of all the activities they offer at Big Bear that a three year old could be involved in. We are looking forward to going back for the winter and seeing what the winter fun has in store for us up there. If you never made a trip to Big Bear do so. It is worth the trip.

      Fun Retreat for Guys

Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011

This is you basic cabin in the woods. The place was cozy but a little rickety. Of course, it was a 3 star place, so my buddies and I were not expecting the place to be very fancy. The biggest disappointment was the BBQ: it was missing a bottom grate to hold up the charcoal, so it took a long time to get our coals hot; and it was missing the handle for the cover, so we had to make a handle out of a coathanger. Other than that, it was great 'guy weekend' place. I would be skeptical of the place if I was going there with my wife and kid, though.

      A Little Disappointed

Left on 07/28/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Although we loved being in Big Bear again, we were disappointed in the Moonridge cabin we rented through Big Bear Vacations. The cabin needs to be advertised as having many steps from the parking area to the cabin. I have a disability and had an extremely difficult time getting back & forth from the car to cabin. Steps in the bathroom, down to tub & kitchen . . . you need to advise this is not a rental for anyone with physical disabilities. The slats in the walkway are not close together (our dog's foot slipped through & he hurt himself), and the railing is so splintery I was afraid to hold on to it for fear of getting a splinter. Parking was difficult. Louvered window in LR had no screen & we were inundated with moths! Although we were allowed to check in an hour ahead of your 3 PM check-in time, that and the 11 am check-out time did not give us even two full days in the cabin (we really don't feel we had much value for $$, even with the Living Social coupon.) The cabin was clean and stocked with TP, paper towels, and a minimum amount of towels, however there were no mattress pads & the beds were made with a flat sheet on the bottom that came untucked during the night. It would be nice if there was more storage space & less knickknacks in the kitchen. We realize that this is a cabin and not a luxury hotel, but feel these items should be brought to your attention. I do want to compliment you on your staff . . . everyone I encountered was very polite and attentive.

      Wonderful Family Time

Left on 12/30/2010 for a stay in December 2010

The cabin was smaller then I expected, but I believe that ended up being a plus. When you mix 8 full grown adult's, two dog's, and a rainy weekend you get a lot of silliness mixed with some family togetherness whether you like it or not and...We had a blast...

      Things to bring:
      Extra trash liners
      Toilet Paper
      Paper Towels
      Candles
Long Lighter ( Yes we BBQ both days in the rain and had fun doing it )
      Games

      Quiet Cozy Retreat

Left on 08/19/2010 for a stay in August 2010

We were looking for a quiet retreat in the forest and that's exactly what we got. Luckily, there were quite a few properties around that were unoccupied so that really helped the quiet. The canyon does carry sound quite well. The place was small but clean, with comfortable couches and perfect for our weekend away from the craziness of the city.

Although it can technically sleep 8 people, the living room can barely accomodate that many people hanging out comfortably. We had 5 adults and it sometimes seemed a little small. The forest behind the house was a perfect for a quick hike. And we enjoyed eating outside at the picnic table.

I would bring an extra roll of toilet paper and maybe your own towels if you are staying a few days. And a sharp knife. Other than that, its as advertised and for the price, it was an exceptional value for us.

Left on 03/24/2010 for a stay in March 2010

service - great. good directions, instructions, free coffee, etc.

home - the lady on the operator told us that we would be staying in this 2 story house however it was super small. this is a 2 story house however you cannot go to the bottom floor. dirty, not usable whatsoever. You can only stay in the top floor. Only had 2 tissue, 6 people living in the house, for 3 days, need more than that. All furniture is old as well as. Gave us a list of rules, such as clean the house and throw away trash ourselves. That is so stupid, we are not maids, we are paying to stay and not clean or go out of our way to find the dumb site to throw away our trashcans.

location- scary, no street lights, a bit confusing to find the house, no railing on the ends of the hill cliffs. Neighbor behind us threw snow balls and was not able to report because the front desk was closed.

liked best - close to big bear blvd; easy access
least- made the place sound nice but wasnt! liars. i hate liars!

      Great family getaway

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in November 2009

      Thanksgiving in Big Bear:

The cabin was clean but a little hard to find with the given instructions. We had to call the office to find the exact location. The kids loved the trap door but we kept them from exploring it. The sunken bathtub was a little odd but lots of hot water so no complaints. Overall a good value for the money we paid.

Oh and there was a musty smell but we took the suggestions to bring sented candles and it all worked out.

      Nice Stay

Left on 11/11/2009 for a stay in November 2009

If you are looking for a cute and cozy (aka: small) cabin, this does the trick.
When you first enter the cabin it does smell a bit musty... but it's probably
from being unoccupied for long periods of time. I just bought scented
candles and that made the whole place smell good. Otherwise, everything
was clean - fresh linens and clean kitchen and bath.

The fireplace works great and I was surprised by how many people it sleeps
(5-6). We had three adults and two toddlers... I would say it was just big
      enough for us.

Parking - is tight with two cars, but it's nice and paved.

Definitely bring a GPS unit to find the place (although Big Bear Vacations
does provide driving directions), it makes it a whole lot easier when you are
      driving in the dark.

Oh, and Big Bear Vacations is awesome. This is the second time we used
      them - great service.

Eventhough parking was a little scarce for a large cabin, I highly recommend this cabin for anyone who is looking for a cabin that is secluded. The company's services were excellent! My friends and I are a well diversed group and we didn't receive any racial discrimination like we did with cabin for less the previous year. We are definately comming back next year and hopefuly this same cabin will be available for us.

      ~THE TREEHOUSE ESCAPE~

Left on 07/04/2009 for a stay in June 2009

BRING MANY FANS IN THE SUMMER!!!! We had a great time at this little treehouse, but WHEW was it hot!! We bought 4 fans while we were there! The house is great tho- we loved the seclusion, and all the critters that inhabit the place this time of year. We named the robin TILDE for your F.Y.I. she's very sweet. You will have to turn the porch light on quickly as to not let the flying critters in so that she can see her way to her nest at night. She will holler at you if she needs assistance!! We did a lot of cleaning so it should look good for awhile, and we left some citronella candles under the sink. My biggest compliment would be to the folks at BIG BEAR VACATIONS, their hospitality was wonderful and we will rent from the again, hopefully this winter.

      HAVE A BLAST, WE DID!!!

      Watch out for the driveway!!

Left on 03/04/2009 for a stay in February 2009

Everything about this home was absolutely perfect except the driveway. The rooms were cozy, the kitchen was adorable, the sledding hill out the back door was perfect for my family. However, the driveway is very narrow, awkwardly situated, and nearly impossible to back out of in snowy weather. With chains on the drive wheels, we slid a few inches to one side on our way out and a front wheel went over the edge. We ended up having to be winched back onto the road. If it weren't for the driveway, I'd pick this cabin again and again, but as it is, we won't be coming back.

We just spent a wonderful weekend at this house and had a wonderful time. This is
the first time that we stayed in a vacation rental home instead of a hotel -- and it was perfect. The
house was closer to the lifts than we ever planned, just a short drive down the road.
Everything was in order when we arrived, and we were pleased to
learn that the pictures online matched the home. It's actually nicer than the pictures! We'd definitely recommend this house -

      Enjoy.
