Decent place for the price. We did buy wood for wood burning stove as described but when we arrived, stove was gas only. The Big Bear vacations wanted to refund us for the wood but we decided to keep the wood for the fireplace at home. Read more
We are sorry for any inconvenience to you for buying the wood for the gas only fireplace. The description of this mountain retreat states that the fireplace is gas. We will review our description to see if we can make this clearer to our future guests. Thank you for the time you spent reviewing.
A dissappointing stay in Big Bear
Left on 01/14/2012 for a stay in December 2011 | Petty Family
This is the 2nd year my family has rented from Big Bear Vacations. Both years we were very disappointed. The extra bedding was old and not very appealing. We were not sure if the main bed had clean sheets on it. There was no Soap anywhere but in the kitchen.(dish soap) There were no paper towels in the kitchen. The kitchen was under equipped. At the very least if you are not providing the essentials you should let your guest know. We rent at several other properties in other areas and there is at least a starter supply of the essentials. We will definitely look else where to rent next time!! Very over priced!! Read more
Never hesitate to call for help when you need to. Our customers' satisfaction is what we strive for. The cabin is set up with basic products and paper towels are not provided. A small basket of toiletries should have been placed in each of the bathrooms and we are sorry if this was overlooked. Our housekeeping staff would of been happy to bring those over to you if we had known. With regards to the issue on toilet paper and paper towels. We do our best to let our guests know that renting private homes are very different than hotels, One difference is no endless supply of paper products, just an initial supply for convenience.
We hope you will reconsider returning and we will look forward to welcoming you back to Big Bear.
Dirty, dirty and dirty

Heater is not working. superhot upstairs, and cold downstairs. Blankets are so worn out and so dirty and they have white stains who knows where it comes from and seems unwashed for ages. They charged $50 cleaning fee but you do your own cleaning and they make you throw your trash out at a place a mile away from your cabin. So my experience was terrible with this cabin. Stay away from there if you trust me. Read more

upon arrival we discovered the gas fireplace wouldn't turn on, called office and was told it was a woodburning stove then had to argue with staff to convince them otherwise. A maintenance person came out while I was changing/unpacking and got the fireplace going while two teenagers were watching t.v. without explaining how to operate the jerry rigged system with an adult. There was only one dishtowel in the cabin, should advise guests to bring extra towels dishclothes napkins etc. Biggest bummer was the oven didn't work so a lot of food got dragged back home. One other thing- the upstairs tiolet seat was disgusting looked like someone had bad case of diarrea. Read more
Thank you for taking your time to give us your feedback, as it allows us to address concerns that our guests might have with a vacation home. We apologize for the inconvenience you experience during your stay, however had you informed our stuff of the oven not functioning we could have had our maintenance technician take care of it while he got your fireplace working as well.

Your staff was friendly and efficient. Our stay was adequate. I have 2 complaints. First, the toilet in the master bath ran for 20 seconds every 30 minutes. Second, the gas log fireplace didn't function. I would use your service again, but likely not the cabin.

The main thing people need the rentals in Big Bear is to sleep well after an all day outdoor activities. This cute place failed to provide that. The mattress upstairs is very uncomfortable no one could sleep there. All the pillows are useless and need to be replaced. The covers in the Sleeper sofa were very dusty and dirty no one wanted to sleep there. After three days, we all wanted to go home and get some good sleep.
Cozy and Cute

I stayed for Tough Murder weekend and truly enjoyed the quiet. There were a few burnt out lights. Cd player didn't work. Batteries in remotes were dead. Chair in kitchen on verge of collapse. Shower curtains moldy. But overall a nice time in Big Bear. Read more

People at Big Bear Rentals very nice. Place was cute except non of the linens fit the beds. The wood stove was locked off so couldn't be used. Not a big deal except using the heater left the downstairs still chilly and the upstairs an oven. Also no coffee pot. otherwise a cute space that could be perfect with care. Read more

Cozy little cabin

Nice cabin, clean, kind of small but we were there for only one night. It suited our Neededs, no coffee pot in coffee maker, besides that all was good.
should not lie to customers when they ask a question

First thing I did was ask if that cabin was not taken ,then I asked if you charge
a fee for placing the order she said no no no I dont like having to pay
someone to place the order she said no then she made the mistake of the
wrong starting day, she changed that But I think I was charged for her mistake
because she placed the first order then I repeated it to her and she relized her
mistake and I had to wait about an hour for her to fix it. when I saw the bill I
was chargeded 25.00 then 20.00 and 16.00 for other thats what the 16.00
was under (other) processing fee is a fee for what because she took the order
then the 25,00 what a rip off would I go there again no the cleaning fee was
o.k I was told about that isnt it funny she told me about that but not the other
fees when i asked. I liked the place people were nice but the way the oder was
taken and those fees never again . and Im telling all my friends also we were
going back this summer untill the bill came in and I saw the fees I was told no
fees I dont care what you call it I asked and she lied lied no way to run a

Great Stay - Oktoberfest

My husband and I stayed during an Oktoberfest weekend. We were able to walk to the event. The cabin is perfect for 2 or more. It's very charming and well kept. It is also within walking distance to a few cafes, and there is a nice trail/walking bridge over the lake just a few blocks away. Great location, will definitely be back.
