Outdated and in desperate need of new furnishings and a better c

Left on 12/28/2011 for a stay in December 2011

Location was very nice, but as soon as we arrived we were excited about using the jacuzzi and to our surprise it was so dirty smelled horrible, it smelled like sulfur I could not believe how they missed that. Also the cups on the side of the jacuzzi that were never picked up and the hand towel also left outside. The inside was not so clean they left a dirty bathmat hanging over the shower curtain. The shower tub was never cleaned the floor was never swiped. The furniture in this cabin are so old, there were two white single chairs one of them you couldn't really sit on because it will tip you over, the couch would suck you in. I mean is it really that hard to purchase new furniture for your rental property? .I really threaded going back to sleep here after a long day of snowboarding, did not feel like a vacation at all. I would drop this property until the owners make some changes to better accommodate guest. The rental company kept in touch throughout our stay trying to fix the problem but was unsuccessful with the jacuzzi since the owners were contracted through a different cleaning company that was closed at the time. I
can't really say that I was really satisfied in which this whole experience was handle after all this we only got our cleaning fee of $130 and $20 for the jacuzzi not being cleaned reimbursed. At this point I would've invited the guests to return free of charge on there next visit I don't think I would ever rent from this company again. I will only say this the staff was really nice but the way that this was handled could've been a lot better.

hand towel also never picked up. party cups from previous tenants that were never picked up by cleaning crew. dirty and smelly jacuzzi

      Nice, cozy and warm

The place was very nice and spacious, it was fun in a great location for tubing and playing in the snow. Everything was provided for us. the cabin was great the only thing that stops me from booking with big bear vacations is they make you clean the cabin before you leave or they charge you extra fees. When I go on vacation I want to relax and have a good time but it did not feel relaxing they make you clean and dry and put away all dishes or a fee of $30+, they make you load your car with all the trash bags because you have to empty them by the check in/ check out office and if you leave them in the cabin they charge you $30 per bag, everything has to be cleaned up the onlything they do not charge a fee for was making the beds. I was really annoyed by the end of the trip I was waiting to go home.

A new gas meter had just been installed and they had
to remove some of the hand rail around the parking
pad. The front door was difficult to open with the
key. The den area was small for six people. The
upstairs bathroom door was difficult to open. The
gas BBQ was great. The spa was nice and hot. The
deck was smaller that we expected with not view. The
wood burning stove was nice. The movie selection was
      pretty good for my taste.

      Cozy cabin with old Plumbing

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in January 2010

We were about 8 people in the cabin and it was definately cozy, in a good way! The hot tub outside was amazing and fit all 8 of us at one time! We took full advantage of the great bbq and the beds were comfy enough.
The bad news: The only downside was the plumbing. The very first night we arrived, before I had even used the restroom, one of the toilets overflowed. The second day the second toilet was headed in that same direction and the sink pipe was leaking...A LOT. This is a lot of issues for a group only staying 3 days.
The good news: if you call Big Bear vacation rentals during their office hours they send maintenance within the hour to come fix it which is awesome!! And they WERE great. We didn't have any more toilet or sink problems after they came to visit.
Make sure you take out EVERY SINGLE BIT of trash if you do not want to get charged. We took out EVERYTHING and somehow we still got charged $25. We called and it was changed, but this just shows how strict they are. In short, leave it in better condition than when you arrived.
Overall, this cabin was definately nice, had nice views in a quiet neighborhood. If you have 7 or less people this cabin will be nice and roomy.

      Cozy

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in December 2009

It was a good thing that all of us staying at the cabin liked each other because o-boy, the cabin was very very cozy. We had 4 adults, 2 teens and 2 children (the number which seemed to exceed maximum occupancy by 1, but the booking agent told me that it was OK because we had 2 small children who'll count as 1 adult. hmmmm...). The upstairs bedroom has no privacy as it has an opening for a window, but no glass in it. Our little girl ended up locking herself in the upstairs bathroom and we weren't able to unlock it from outside (this could have been traumatic, but it turned out to be a "memorable experience" for her). The fireplace emmits strange glue smell and huge smoke inside the cabin. We ended up spending a LOT of time outside, sledding just behind the property. It was a lot of fun. The jacuzzi was also very enjoyable. Washer & dryer was a nice add-on. I just wish that the cabin was upkept better and that the maximum occupancy matched the size of the property. This wuold have been PERFECT for one family with teens.

      unforgetable!!

This was the most wonderful cabin i could imagine coming across. I was looking at a couple cabins and i started actually booking a little late. The cabins i was looking at were booked. I called Big Bear Vacations and was suggested this cabin by Jackie ( which i must say was wonderful ). This cabin was perfect. It was right down the street from the lake and the Zoo. I will be renting this cabin again!!!
