San DiegoWonderful Christmas
Left on 01/04/2012 for a stay in December 2011
My family (husband, I, two grown daughters and two dogs) spent Christmas on Rainbow on Hose Hill. What a charming place! The house was decorated with a tree and ornaments and we had the nicest Christmas ever. We spent the days on the slopes and the evenings at the fireplace. The washer and dryer were great. We would have enjoyed a second bathroom though. Overall this was a wonderful vacation in a beautiful cabin.

Front desk was wonderful and helpful. The place was clean and well accommodating. This place looks like it is straight from an Ikea cataloge. I almost want to leave a negative review so that it wont be over booked next time we come.

La Quinta, CACabin needs maintenance
Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The cabin was about what I expected, until we started looking around, and found several maintenance problems: one ceiling fan wobbled so much we were afraid it would fall off, one ceiling fan didn't work because the chain had snapped off, the sliding screen door to the deck needed a major adjustment, one fawcett in the shower just spun around and had to be tightened with a knife, the carpets were filthy. It all left a bad impression of the rental company, which obviously doesn't check the rental units on a regular basis.

La Crescenta, CAPretty nice place with fenced yard for pets
Left on 08/05/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This is a pretty nice house. The positives are a nice spacious house and fenced yard. The downside: The yard is separate from the house, so you have to walk the dogs out there (can't leave a door open for them to go in and out). The master is upstairs and the stairs are a bit sketchy to the upstairs area. There is only one bathroom which is downstairs. It is a nice place though.

Really nice home in nice neighborhood. Fenced yard for pets. Could use another bathroom. Stairs leading to master on second floor are steep and seem to be too close together. Overall, I would recommend the property.

Left on 06/03/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We really liked the living area with firewood and the childrens room with lots of games. The fenced yard was great for our doggy and we really enjoyed out of town just a few steps to the forest with very nice neighbours.
Very nice and cute house the only thing we did not like was the dirty carpet in the entrance area , everything else was very clean, even the deck was free of spiderwebs, but altogether we would love to come back for the cuteness and the location!

We had a great time with this cabin. There was plenty of room for all four of my boys. The only negative thing we have to say about the place is, the stair to the upper bedroom steep and narrowed. I think everyone of us slipped at lease once. They should look into elongating a few Stairs from the bottom .Otherwise it's a great cabin.

Orange countyNot the most toddler friendly place
Left on 04/27/2011 for a stay in April 2011
The lady was not the most friendly when checking in late at the all in One Protection center. The cabin looked better in the pictures than it did in real life. The blinds were all damaged. There was a lot of wear and tear in the carpets. The place was clean though. The stairs were really steep and narrow and squeaky. It's fine for older children, but dangerous for toddlers. The location of the cabin was also a little further than what we had anticipated from the main area of Big Bear Lake.
The staff at Big Bear Cabins (especially Matt and Kassie) were wonderful and helped me out beyond the call of duty.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 04/30/2011

We are replacing the blinds and doing a great deep clean for spring.
Rainbow on Rose Hill #1081 is a wonderul home for children due to the second bedroom's layout with bunk beds, owners supply toys as a small surprise in the closet, and the choice of decor and furniture.
Although i would not recommend letting any toddler play on a stair case under any conditions.

Left on 03/28/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We loved staying at Rainbow on Rose Hill. The kid's room was perfect! After being out all day they could hang out in their room and watch movies, listen to music, play games, etc. We took our daughter (10 yrs) and her two twin friends. Kitchen was great, top-notch appliances. They could play safely on the deck or in the yard. Having the dryer in the garage was very handy so we could dry wet gloves and socks. The only downsides were only one bathroom downstairs, and the stairs going up to the master bedroom were very narrow and took some getting used to. No dishwasher machine. All in all, a very comfortable home and everything was in perfect working order. We had lots of snow and had a great time! So quiet there too. Would certainly stay there again.

Our family had a really great time. The only issue was that the hot water knob broke during our visit and we were unable to turn off the water right away, the kids were freezing after a day of snow play and were unable to bathe. But we made the best of it and started a fire for the kids to sit infront of. All in all it was a fun family trip.

Left on 02/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The place was just the right size & price for us. But its a little out of the way and we went in the winter. The house took awhile to warm up. We got there and the whole house was freezing. We turned on the heat and it still didnt warm up in an hour so we had we went out for dinner to give the house a chance to warm up. By the time we got back it was warm. The water in the shower however was short of hot water after one person showered the water got cold. We had to wait out the water heater before another person could shower. It was a good place maybe for the summer.

Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010
We had a fantastic time and loved our cabin! I was so excited and pleased that the cabin had a decorated Christmas tree and was decorated for Christmas through out. There was enough seating at the dinner table for 6 and also on the couches for all of us. I was dissappointed there wasn't a DVD player. We brought our favorite Christmas movies to watch. There was a VCR, who has videos any more? The kitchen had brand new appliances which were great but the pots and pans weren't very nice, very worn out. We had to use a wrench to turn on the cold water in the shower. Everything was exceptionally clean! Overall I would say it was a great little cabin.

The cabin was nice and clean. There were things to entertain us (movies, games, ect.) It snowed the next morning and there were beautiful scenery. The cabin was comfortable. The only things that I can say that were negative are: the stairs squeaks and the shower handle was broken (we had to use a wrench). Overall great cabin to have an amazing experience with friends.

If the neighborhood is not important for you then this is a great choice. The house itself is very well kept and nicely decorated with vibrant colors that complement the rooms. It is very clean and equipped with everything you need. It is not a terrible neighborhood and it is relatively close to the office. I would definitely stay in it again however I would choose to be greeted by a friendlier clerk. The gentleman was not welcoming and did not reflect the brand properly.Overall, one of the best vacation rentals I have stayed at.

Nice cabin with good amenities. Squirrels and jays right outside to feed peanuts. Wireless Internet and cable tv worked very well.
Overall, a good place and I'd go back.
Bath faucet in tub didn't shutoff fully and towel racks would pull out of wall.
Could get warm in house in the afternoon and all the windows downstairs didn't open. -

Murrieta, caGreat quiet get-away
Left on 07/30/2010 for a stay in July 2010
When we first walked in there was a roach-like creature crawling up the wall which had us concerned. However after putting our best foot forward (and wiping up the messy footprint afterward) we carried on. When we turned on the upstairs landing light it was full of live moths! After dispatching the little squatters we finally claimed our territory and never saw another bug.
The cabin was roomy and clean and everything worked well(e.g. hot water, fridge, TV, etc.).
The selection of kid videos was great and an added bonus! We ended each long day with a movie with the kids and they loved it.
It was a great quiet get-away. -

Left on 06/29/2010 for a stay in May 2010
We were pleasantly surprised!! The layout of the cabin was well planned with plently of space for our family of 6. The furniture and decor was very nice. Loved the kitchen applicances and the fully stocked kitchen gadgets & dishes with the exception of the small trash can...
Hated all the ants! I believe this is normal for the area. We also had to run out to purchase toilet paper as only a half roll was in the toilet. The bathroom door did not close, the towel bar in the bathroom had pulled out of the wall, the tub contstantly dripped water - no matter how tightly you turned the knob and the fan in the bathroom did not work very well. Did not enjoy the Ikea mattresses, and the DVD player in the 2nd bedroom did not work.
Aside of these minor issues, I would rent this cabin again but I would pack my ant spray & toilet paper! -

I did not expect that much from the place. I even took some extra stuff just in case they did not have it, but my surprise was that the house had everything!!! except for napkins :). This was such a great place, it was nice, comfortable and clean. However; there were two things that I did not like......one was that there was no DVD on the living room which suck because we were not able to watch our movies in the living room and the second one was that there was too much noise in one of the rooms that were locked. Other than that, I do recommend this place.

Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in January 2010
Overall, the home was nice and I was content. I liked that there was a TV in every room and games/movies for the kids readily available. The furniture and decor was up to date and definitely did not give me that dated, really used, cabin feel. The location was great as well, as it was right off of Big Bear Blvd and very close to the tubing area for the kids. The kitchen had mostly everything we needed and the appliances were new.
My negatives:
-The pillow covers and comfortors that were on the beds stunk. They smelled like they were definitely used, maybe by some large frat boys? Ugh. musty. This was a big issue for me since we were soo tired after the day's events that we did not want to go through this huge debacle of finding clean sheets/blankets.
-Couldn't figure out the DVD player.
-Very little lighting in the kitchen.
-I was provided ONE roll of toilet paper and had to go purchase some in an emergency because we didn't realize this until it was too late...
-The trash can in the kitchen was a waste paper basket so we basically had a large trashbag on the floor of the kitchen the whole time.
-Knives and the cutting board were very difficult to work with. Definitely bring your own if you plan on cooking.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 01/27/2010

The house was as described. The guest book was fun to read. Many families have enjoyed the house. It is close to everything and decorated beautifully. Beds are plenty comfortable.
