Santa Monica, CAAmazing Property with amazing View
Left on 01/01/2012 for a stay in December 2011
This is our second year staying at this property, the 7th lakefront house we've stayed in over the past 4 winters. It is the perfect size for 10 people and the best price. The interiors are decorated to wow and the cleanliness is definitely up to my meticulous standards. Their kitchen ware is complete, from pots and pans to plates and utensils. They do not stock any spices so be sure to bring your own salt and pepper.
However, nothing is perfect. Only 2 of the 4 showers provide hot water with good water pressure. I didn't notice this last year do perhaps it's just a new and temporary thing. Last year, the roof of the small bed room facing the lake was leaking when it rained which was slightly annoying since we woke up with a wet suitcase. It wasn't raining this time we went so I'm not sure if that problem has been fixed or not.
Overall, this house is amazing.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 04/15/2012

Thank you for the helpful review. We’re so happy to see you returned to stay in Best View on Waterview for your winter time stay in Big Bear Lake. Unfortunately the year you stayed when it leaked we had a very violent rainstorm which resulted in much water being blown up under roofing on several homes and caused leaks in homes that normally had no problem with this. It has since then been address. Likewise, the he showers are all working at optimal condition and are ready for use. We look forward to helping you plan yet another great vacation in Big Bear.

Moreno ValleyWonderul Relaxing Experience
Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Our first impression of the view was "wow!" My husband and brother in laws enjoyed the pool table on the first floor. We were able to fish right off our own private dock and caught Rainbow Trout! The walk to the dock was a bit slippery and can be challenging for small children. The view from any of the rooms is amazing! We enjoyed the outside spa and cooked dinner on the outside gas BBQ grill. We had a bit of confusion when turning it on but as soon as we found the directions we were set. If u are planning on cooking during your stay, the home is equipped with kitchen utensils, pots and pans. The only negative thing I can say is the smell when you are standing outside in front of the house is pretty bad. We couldn't figure out what it was. The sound for the tv in the living room is horrible, but who needs tv when you have a gorgeous view of the lake. We will always rent from Big Bear Vacations :)

Left on 09/28/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Beautiful location and view of the lake; lots to do in this large home. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and pool table and t.v.s. We fished from the private dock and rented a boat for one day. Very clean inside and well maintained. Best birthday cake from local Sugar Pines Bake Shop and helpful expert in the local bait shop. Hiked on the north shore after visiting the Discovery Center. We had a great weekend!

Downey, CAFun and relaxing
Left on 09/20/2011 for a stay in September 2011
This was a fantastic house with 3 balcony views overlooking the lake. The first floor which consisted of the kitchen, dining and living area was very spacious. The 2nd floor is where all the rooms where at. The 3rd floor is the fun room aka the game room, is where we spent most of our time. The outdoor jacuzzi was amazing overlooking the lake. A very big home for a big group of friends. My only complaints were the fold out couches. You can feel the metal bars underneath. Also, 2/4 restroom showers have very low pressure, making our shower an extended one. Overall, I had a good time and would go back again.

Pasadena, CAA wonderful experience
Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We absolutely loved staying at this home. The amenities are wonderful, the view was great and it was an incredibly restful experience. Our kids enjoyed taking our boat out from the dock and I enjoyed watching them go from one of the balconies or from the hot tub.
The decor is charming and the beds are very comfortable. The layout is great: bedrooms on the second level with nice living area and kitchen on top and tv/ pool table on bottom so we could hang out on top and the kids hung out on the bottom level. We cooked for the entire week and the kitchen is well laid out with plenty of counter space, center island and great stove. We plan on staying again -

san clementeGreat trip in a beautiful home!
Left on 07/20/2011 for a stay in June 2011
This home is wonderful!!! It is so beautifully decorated. Wonderful peaceful place for relaxation and spend time fishing off the dock.
If you have problems with stairs this home is not for you.
It is very difficult to get down to dock, not a safe trail. The dock was underwater in spots and there was this weird white slime that was very dangerous because everyone tried to jump over it and then slipped.
They need a sweeper available with that dark green carpet.
This is the third Big Bear Vacation home we have stayed in and they are all very nice. I wish they would pay attention to the grounds as there is always trash, leaves, pine needles, and two out of three spas had broken jets and weak jet flow. -

Los AngelesGreat cabin!
Left on 06/02/2011 for a stay in May 2011
The cabin was in great condition (with the exception of a few dead spiders lingering in the bathtubs). It was clean and well kept. The hot tub was clean and working great.
The dock was basically useless as it was so weighed down and weak that the main path was underwater, but cold weather prevented us from using it much so it didn't prove a big problem for us. Though it may for someone staying when the weather is warmer..
The rooms were all great, the bathrooms were clean and nice. The price is a little steep if you're staying more than a couple of nights but overall, we loved the cabin and have already discussed returning.
Had a slight hiccup with checkout where I received "accidental charges" but the lady I spoke to fixed the problem very quickly and was extremely friendly about it. So the customer service proved to be good.

The stay at this lake view cabin was wonderful. This was a mother's day getaway and it was a memorable one. I will recommend this cabin to family and friends.
The staff at Big Bear Vacations during check in and check out was outstanding. They were very friendly and informative.
The cabin had some minor items that needed attention, but over all it was worth the money and stay.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 05/21/2011

Best View on Waterview #1143 is such a promising Lakefront home, with the awesome location wrapped up (ending in a cul-de-sac), neighbors are very few and a sense of privacy is activated.

San DiegoGreat location, Great home, Some issues
Left on 02/02/2011 for a stay in January 2011
I'll qualify this by saying that I have pretty high standards. I expect things to be done correctly and I anticipate that paying this nightly rate comes with a certain level of expectation that things will be just right.
The location is phenomenal. Drinking coffee each morning on the deck while looking out over the lake was a treat. The home is well appointed with a gas grill, jacuzzi, microwave, pool table, TVs, wonderful decor, etc. Everyone was impressed when I gave them a tour.
Here are some high/low points:
1) The jacuzzi is beat. The water level was low, with no hose nearby to top it off. Some of the jets were broken (ripped out of the jacuzzi). Most of the cushions were rotted to nothing. Most of the control handles were broken. That said, it was heated when we arrived, and none of the above stopped us from enjoying some beers while looking out over the lake.
2) The hot water never got really hot. It was good enough to shower, etc., but not enough to really enjoy the whirlpool tub.
3) Wireless internet worked great. Download rates were around 170kpbs.
4) The bedrooms are on the middle floor, and even a ninja slinking around on the floor above sounds like a herd of elephants.
5) All of the utensils we needed were in the cabin, including grill utensils.
6) I think it's actually a gas fireplace, but there wasn't a gas key to turn it on.
7) There was trash and cigarette butts littering the ground around the cabin. Not terrible, but still kind of a bummer to see in such a pristine setting.
8) There were ample blankets in the closets for 8 people.
9) The upstairs TV has Hdmi, Svideo and RCa inputs. The downstairs TV has RCa. The downstairs stereo has RCa inputs.
10) The dishwaher soap dispenser is broken and the display is fogged up, but it still works.
I recommend staying here, but I'm also curious what this rate represents in other cabins. Next time I'll stay somewhere else just to have a basis for comparison.

Beverly Hills, CAHous was great except we went 24 hours with no hot water
Left on 01/05/2011 for a stay in December 2010
the house was really great except for three things:
1. dishwasher did not work
2. no hot water for the first 24 hours (not acceptable)
3. water-sogged carpeting on the lowest floor, could not walk around the house in socks.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 02/01/2011

Thank for responding to our survey. This house has 2 tankless water heaters. Unfortunately one had quit functioning properly. it is working foine now. We had large rain storms in December. Along with this house and others there was much water intrusion. This has been rectified.

Palos Verdes Estates, CABeautiful views, gorgeous cabin, quiet
Left on 09/17/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We all loved, loved, loved the home. Gorgeous views and mostly very quiet.
I would like to rent the same place this winter.
I don't know if the 3rd lower level would be warm enough however.
If I would make improvements:
1.Make driveway, with address. more noticeable, and improved
2.Trim lower limbs, especially dead ones off trees between house and deck.
3. More chairs for dining table are very necessary
4. Better mattresses needed on fold out beds...very, very poor quality
5. Need more blankets and nice pillows available for cold nights.
6. I had alot of trouble using the dishwasher..finally just did by hand.
7. A few more cooking utensils would have been nice, like tongs.
8. For long stays a vacumn would be nice.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 10/25/2010
Manager
Thank you for responding to our surgey. We will speak to the owner about more blankets for the beds. Sofa sleepers work better for children but we will speak to the owner regarding your concers including the tree trimming.

My family (two young daughters, wife, and dog) spent the week in this gorgeous home and had the time of our lives. Very quiet neighborhood. The home was appointed amazingly. It had everything we needed in order to feel "at home." From the tempurpedic bed in the master bedroom, to the Gas Grille on the back porch, to the well maintained and perfectly placed hot tub on the water; we could not have asked for more. We will be back...

Yorba Linda, CaliforniaThoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We rented this gorgeous lakefront home for 7 nights. It is beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable for the whole family. I was thrilled to see the Tempur-pedic bed in the master bedroom (we have one at home and I hate sleeping on regular mattresses now). It is located at the end of a long, quiet street and was very peaceful. We loved sitting on the top level of the deck reading or watching the lake activity. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes/pots/utensils (no corkscrew though, so byo if you like a glass of wine at night on the patio!) and we used the natural gas bbq a lot.
Our only difficulty was with the hot water in the master bathroom, esp. the shower. After the first 2 showers that turned icy cold within 60 seconds, we just used the other bathrooms which worked perfectly. We loved every minute of our time here and would rent this home again without hesitation.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 07/11/2010

Thank you for your response to our survey. This house has 2 tankless water heaters and one of them needed servicing. This has been done so everyone should now get their needed hot water. Again, thank you for your response to our survey.

The location was fantastic, the home is beautiful and the amenities were great. We had a little trouble with the hot water in the bathrooms and it would have been nice to have access to the kayaks as we could have explored the lake a little more, but aside from that it was very nice.
Response from Big Bear Vacations - 07/11/2010

Thank you for your response to our survey. Many owners keep their boat and kayaks at their lake property for personal convenience. These are not made accessable to people renting their homes. They can be rented at the maraina around the lake. the boats at the marinas are maintained and kept in proper working order. Again, thank you for your response to our survey.
