Overall, the rental was very nice. Service was good and check-in and check-out was very easy. The kitchen was a bit small but besides that the house was very comfortable. Great location in the center of town.

We came for the Big Bear Film Festival and only stayed one night in the acorn Cottage but wish we could have stayed longer! It was adorable and comfortable. Also, even though it was minutes from Big Bear Blvd., it was neatly tucked away among the trees.
Kitchen is small but adaquately stocked. Would have liked to have a toaster though.
We found some games in the closet and had a great time playing Trivial Pursuit with friends on the back patio.
Pluses: clean, easy to find, charming. Heat worked! Cool tub in upstairs bathroom.
Minus: water heater wasn't functioning well. Could never get really hot water, which would have been a problem if we had been staying longer because I'm not fond of a cold bath. Also I felt that water needs to be hotter to wash dishes. -

This is the fifth or sixth time I have rented this cottage, as always it is a delightful place to stay. The only negative experienced was the unlocked door in the kitchen when we arrived. That was a bit scary but I know this will not happen again. Thanks as always.

We really really enjoyed the acorn cottage. Very adorable and quaint. The only issue if you could call it that was the upstairs room. You cld hear everything that was said, done, walked, talked etc. it went both ways. So definitively a romantic getaway with kids is not an option;) but other then that we loved the back deck, spent a lot of time out there:) We left completely relaxed.
The only other thing was that there were only 2 towels and 2 washcloths for four people. Thank goodness we thought to bring extra. -

My wife, baby girl, and yorkie enjoyed our stay at acorn Cottage. It had plenty of space for us and everything was ready to use. Hot water was hot, fridge was on, etc. There were only a couple of things that we weren't thrilled about and they were very minor.
#1 It was tidy, but not necessarily clean. Most noticeably, the floors didn't appear as though they had gotten a good vacuum in a while. Luckily there was a vacuum in a closet and I was able to vacuum the cabin pretty quickly. Huge difference. We probably would have overlooked this imperfection except for the fact that we knew our baby would be crawling on the floor.
#2 The pillows at this cottage are definitely a little tired. Very flattened and uncomfortable. Next day, a quick trip to the local kmart fixed that with a couple new pillows.
Other than those two things, it was a great experience. Great location. Close enough to the city, village, groceries, the lake, yet far enough away to stay nice and peaceful. Oh, the stove is a little awkwardly small. Most of the pots and pans do not fit well on it since it is so small, but we made due.

Los AngelesA lovely cabin
Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in May 2012
This was our first time staying at acorn Cottage.
We have stayed at many Big Bear Cabins and this was the nicest (small, pet friendly cabin so far.)
It was a lovely cabin, with a very good location.
It was clean and comfortable and we felt at home.
When we got there we discovered the grill was completely a falling a part mess. Cool Cabins immediately fixed the problem and brought us a new one.
The only issue that we had, that did not get resolved was the refrigerator was to cold and froze our food and drinks that we brought.
Other than that, it was such a lovely getaway and we would probably stay again.

Woodland HillsCozy cottage! Great location!
Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We stayed two nights at the acorn Cottage and we were very happy. If you're looking for a cozy, cute, cabin-feel getaway this is the place. The cabin has everything you need, and is nestled in a nice neighborhood, between the Village and Snow Summit, close to everything. We have rented through Cool Cabins several times this season, and we've never had any problems. As to be expected with any rental properties, the cabins are not always immaculately clean, I'm not saying they're dirty, but you can sometimes tell that they're being used a lot. If you do stay at acorn Cottage when it snows, make sure you have chains, and know how to use a snow shovel. I would definetley stay here again, and I think compared to other rental companies Cool Cabin is a great value.

YucaipaPerfect Cabin for My Little Family
Left on 03/14/2012 for a stay in March 2012
This was the perfect vacation rental for my little family of four. Every day we made the short walk to the national forest and went on an adventure in the snow. Every night we cooked dinner at the cabin and played UNO in front of the fireplace. We were perfectly close to everything so we could make quick trips to the store, go intertubing and eat lunch out.
There were no problems with the hot water. We did have trouble regulating the overall climate the first night. However, we quickly learned to heat up the downstairs all day but cool down the upstairs at night by leaving the windows open and using the fan. The towels were totally nasty motel towels but I agree that this looks like a Cool Cabins deal.
We spent some time evaluating if we could buy a cabin exactly like this one. Thus, we would definitely return but would bring our own towels. -

San DiegoQuintessential Mountain Cottage
Left on 03/13/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We had a very quaint family weekend at this cottage and enjoyed our time there. The cottage is straight out of the 70s but it is exactly what we expected. We had read about the heat being different from the upstairs to the downstairs, so we brought a floor heater with us. They had actually already put a nice space heater in the room, and it looked very nice/expensive, but our little heater seemed to work better. The power went out 3 times, because of a circuit breaker, likely a power overload, which was inconvenient, because we had to go look for the wall unit outside, but I am not sure if that is just how it goes with these old cabins, or there is something they can do about it. I didn't think we were using an unusual amount of power. We really liked the quiet street and backyard where the kids played in the snow as we cooked dinner, and the refrigerator was very nice and spacious. We had also read about the cabin not being clean, and I am a neat freak, so I was a little worried, but it was fine, not great, but fine, it was clean and neat, it just needs a deep clean or a more thorough job done by the cleaning crew. If you look in the corners, it isn't that clean, but again, it wasn't far from what I expected. All in all, it was a cute cabin, and the perfect size for a famiy of 4.

We loved it. Like staying at Grandma's. Has everything you need except firewood so pick some up in town. The upstairs bedroom gets really warm but they have a nice floor fan to circulated the air. It snowed heavy while we were there and spent both nights resting and watching the fire. Very quiet neighborhood. We woke up to a snow plow blowing snow into our driveway and we thought we were going to have to shovel our way out. Within minutes Cool Cabins sent another crew to clear our drive, porch and walkway!
Don't plan on doing a lot of cooking as kitchen is small! Nice dinning table sits 6. Only suggestion is they need to change living room furniture. 1 couch and old antique chair. Needs soft comfortable chair for fireplace gazing! -

Left on 12/30/2011 for a stay in December 2011
My husband and I stayed here for the christmas holiday and had a wonderful experience. The cabin was clean, cozy and had everything we needed. The bathrooms are not photographed but both bathrooms are super clean and cute and the upstairs bathroom is quite large and really adorable. Overall the only thing missing in the cabin is a hot tub on the deck that would simply make it perfect. We will definitely return to this cabin!

Orange countycozzy weekend with the dogs
Left on 11/26/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Cabin is in a quite neighborhood yet minutes away from the village, lake, food, 7/11 ect. The cabin is cozzy but you can tell many other animals have stayed there.(My dogs could tell more so than I) The kitchen was kind of small but perfect for my wife and I. The downstairs furnace heats the upstair bedroom more so than the downstairs livingroom but there is a woodburning fireplace downstairs to make the cabin comfi. Overall we had a great time and would like to do it again. I would bring a portable heater for the downstairs bedroom, we stayed upstairs. It snowed and we had a relaxing nice getaway.

San Diego/Los AngelesIt worked for a quick weekend getaway.
Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We stayed Fri/Sat night with our new baby (5 months) and another couple and their new baby (9 months). Overall the place worked for a couple nights stay, but we would not rent it again. The place is very cozy, the outside deck and neighborhood were awesome - the house is surrounded by trees great to hang out on the deck and take walks in the neighborhood. Location very central too. The kitchen was really small, it was hard for 2 people to move around in it, there was barely any counter space, but it worked for a couple of dinners. We preferred to keep the babies in their pack n plays versus crawling on the ground. The sheets on the bed need to be replaced, they were really dingy and had stains. The bathrooms and showers worked great. It worked for a quick weekend getaway.

San DiegoCozy Cabin, Quiet street
Left on 06/01/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We very much enjoyed staying in the acorn Cottage. Knotty pine throughout and comfortable furnishings created a cozy atmosphere. The upstairs was very roomy with it's own larger bathroom with a clawfoot tub for relaxing bubble baths. Kitchen was adequate, albeit a bit small. Everything worked well. The backyard deck is gated in, which was great for our two small doxies. There's a nice front deck, too. The neighborhood is exceptionally quiet, and is near the Town Trail, which is lovely and has great lake views. The only negative was that the downstairs wall heater makes the upstairs a bit too warm overnight. Great central location for staying in Big Bear. We brought our bikes and took off from the cabin, hiked the trails, and rented a canoe. Wonderful base camp for all your activities, and a quiet, cozy cabin to come 'home' to. We'll be back!

Los AngelesGreat location with heat problems
Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The cabin looked just like the photos and the beds were comfortable. Especially enjoyed the large claw foot bath tub and the large dining room table. All kitchen appliances worked fine. We had 18" of snow and were able to sled down a small slope in the back yard. Biggest problem was the heater - one heater in the dining room -and it all went upstairs. So upstairs was too warm and the living room, even with the fire going, was too cold. This made for some uncomfortable evenings and nights. Also the upholstery on sofa and the bedspreads were a bit grimy. Our dog found old cereal to eat under the bed - but as I said great location. For the price, I wish they had softer towels and softer TP.

We enjoyed our stay in acorn Cottage. The home is small but very cozy. It's located in a nice, quiet neighborhood. We found the cabin to be clean and comfortable but not too new or stuffy. This was perfect for us since we were in Big Bear with our family to be active, have fun, and relax.
