I would not recommend this cabin to anyone at all. The lamps and such wouldn't work. Everything about this cabin needs to be updated. Dvds missing from its cases. Audio video cord for the DVD is broken yet no one care to fix it. Plus there was no a/c. Overall it was a bad experience. Read more

A restful place just a short walk to the lake

My husband and I had a very peaceful look-into-retirement-living week at Black Bear Cabin. It's in a very nice, peaceful neighborhood, very centrally located in big bear lake, and just a block from the swim park. Lots of games to play and plenty of cozy blankets for the chilly summer nights. Perfect parking for our 23 foot boat and truck to be parked on the property near the cabin. Our 5 sons came up to spend the weekend with us and we had more than enough sleeping and living space to accommodate them comfortably. 3 twins and an extra mattress with linen grace the loft area upstairs and two bedrooms with full and queen sized, very comfortable, beds are downstairs. Having two bathrooms on the 'boys' weekend was perfect, they used the upstairs bathroom and I had no problems finding an open shower after a pleasant day on the boat. The residents of Big Bear never cease to amaze me on how happy and friendly they can be. The cabin had plenty of pots, pans, bakeware, and utensils but was missing a spatula. We bought one at the $1 store and left it for others to use :). Our friendly contribution for a wonderful week! Internet was a plus for using our computer and tablets. Only thing that was missing was a TV in the bedrooms. But overall a very small detail that could only add to comfort and convenience of this great place.
Oh, I must mention... We did have to take out a spider or four- not a big deal to me, but creeped out my husband! Lol
Overall we loved our week of rest and relaxation!
Cute little cabin

Black Bear Cabin was very cute. Plenty of room for everyone to sleep and the kids loved the loft and their own bathroom and shower. We loved that it was just around the corner from the park and play beach and centrally located. The washer and dryer were an added bonus.
Internet access was a bit spotty. It either worked or didn't. We are pretty sure it was the signal into the house because the TV signal was spotty as well. The cabin could use a carpet cleaning and some new chairs on the front deck but we would consider staying again.

We made the best we could from a very bad situation. Heater would not heat the main room past 61 degrees. Oven broke down and the meal we took up the mountain for Xmas day never happened. We had to go out for dinner. The carpets were extremely dirty. The furniture was dusty. The main bedroom had unfinished drywall unpainted. Very disappointing at $600.00 per night.
Will you post this one??? Or, only the good stories??? Read more
Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. Big Bear Cool Cabins would like to extend our apologies for any and all hassles which may have met you while staying with us. Unfortunately because there was no issues brought to our attention throughout your stay, there was no way for us to make amendments. We do answer the phones twenty- four hours a day, seven days a week and are always happy to aid our guests with ALL household problems, including but not limited to all issues pertaining to maintenance and housekeeping. As far as the price, not only is that rate extremely reasonable for a three bedroom two bathroom for two nights in Big Bear, It was Christmas. Christmas is THE single most expensive night to stay, the entire year. Also just to be fair, FLIPKEY posts every review we receive- we have no control of what gets put up or gets taken down. So once again thank you for your review and we hope you will consider giving us another shot, should you ever return to our beautiful city.

We rented a house over the holidays with the family for $550 a night.
Not cheap. We brought 3 kids age 5 through 12.
We got there on the first night and prepped our dinner only to find the stove did not work.
We ended up having to toss the food and eat out.
When we got there we bumped the heating up to 80 but it never worked properly do we had to wear our coats and hats in the house all weekend.
Than that night we lit a fire in the fireplace. The entire house filled with smoke even though the flue was wired open.
We were told that the fire neede to burn hotter to work the chimney properly. So the next night we got a raging fire burning. Worked well until the fire was going out. We awoke at 2:30am to a house filled with smoke.
The kids were choking on it as we're the adults.
We had to clear the house and sleep in the car.
When I called Cool Cabins to complain I was offered $50 a night back.
I am currently going after the owner of the home for renting a home unsafe for people. If it were just my wife and I we would have roughed it but when you have 3 little kids it becomes very unsafe. Not to mention there was nothing available too be over to. Hotels, etc.
I would not advise renting from Cool Cabins. They are a joke.
We were planning on using them to handle renting a property we are looking to purchase in Big Bear. But after this experience I would not consider using them for anything at all.
Great trip with my boys

Everything was great. The only problem we had was our 3 year old son was extreemly looking forward to the advertised air hockey table that was not working. Besides that, the proximity to everything was excellent. Park, resturants, etc. close. Had a washer and dryer ( not advertised), although we never used them. Kitchen was stocked with dishes, soap, etc. Overall, a great experience.

House in a great location. I will say this though this property could have been clean of spider webs, and pines needles were all over the front and back porchs. We are thinking of using this company again, but just not this property. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to share the wonderful details of your trip! we have informed housekeeping of the issues with the spiderwebs, and we have also informed the owner of the property of the issues with the yard maintenance. Thank you once again; we hope to welcome you on a return visit.......

My family and I loved it! Wished we could have stayed longer. Ü It was very nice and roomy but yet cozy! It was perfect for our little mini vacation! It was walking distance to the park. Which my kids loved! The staff was awesome!!! They we are very help especially when we were having problems with our heater.

The cabin was cozy and convenient, walking distance to the lake and Meadow Park Beach and eateries. However someone had been sleeping in our beds and it wasn't Goldilocks. The floors were dirty and the beds unmade. The housekeeping staff came quickly within 10 minutes to clean and make the beds, but after the long drive up it we were ready for sleep and that did not happen.
Good for the weekend.

It was a very nice time spent with the family, the house is nice and accomodates comfortably all the family.. great location. It provided all we needed except not enough hot water.brrr.. spiderwebs all over activated my allergies..and rear door lock made me hesitant at night, although it seems to be a very safe place.. I would definitely recommend it if those minor issues dont bother you..

Comfortable cabin, close to everything in Big Bear

The ease and convenience of booking through Big Bear Cool Cabins was a huge draw. The online pics of the cabin were accurate, with the only disappointment being that the air hockey table was broken. The location is close to everything in Big Bear, but it is in a neighborhood with houses on all sides, so don't expect a rustic mountain view or anything. There is a nice deck in front, and another small one off the master bedroom, and we enjoyed sitting outside. The yard needs work, but the fenced in backyard would be perfect for the kids to play in the snow (it is all dirt otherwise.) The beds were very comfortable, and the couches also cozy. Great for a family who wants to relax and feel at home. Kitchen is small but contains everything you could need (minus the food of course) and there is a separate dining area. The upstairs is an open loft area with three twin bunks and a bathroom with shower. Two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower/tub downstairs. The house is an a-frame with gorgeous windows that let in light and also a view of the pine trees in front. There were some slight issues with a little dust and cobwebs, but nothing we minded too much as everything else was clean (cabins should be 'rustic', right?) There were plenty of blankets and pillows. We went at the end of summer, so the place got pretty warm during the day, probably because of the windows (the aC didn't work well), but it cooled down nicely at night. The kids loved the place and we enjoyed our stay there.
