      Beautiful Cabin...terrible management

Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in February 2013

I have used Cool Cabins before and was extremely satisfied with the service, even bragged about it to family.
This time was an awful experience and I will think twice about using Cool Cabins in the future.
We arrived between 6:00pm - 7:00pm the check in process was pleasant.
When we arrived to the cabin the snow had not been cleared to the front porch so I ended up finding a small fireplace shovel and clearing it myself in order to bring our things into the cabin without slipping and tracking in snow.
No lights were on, the cabin was completely dark in and outside so it made finding the house number and the lockbox difficult.
We had ordered the breakfast package in advance, and nothing was there. I used this service before so know that there should have been a nice basket on the counter and the rest in the frig, nothing was there. I called in and the person told me that nothing could be done about it until 8am the next morning. I told her it needed to be earlier because we have small children and they need to eat! The food was delivered at about 8:30am and was incomplete. One of us had to run down to the store to get peanut butter and jelly and cream cheeze for the bagels and some fruit.
Since we got in there late and needed to be up early the next morning to hit the slopes we put the kids to sleep pretty early. The adults stayed up until about 11:00pm and when one of us went to take a shower noticed there was no hot water. Why would you rent out a cabin in the winter time without the water heater turned on well in advance?
The water heater was not turned on until approx 9:00am, we all went through our day without a shower. When we returned about 4:00pm the water was only hot for 2 showers, the rest of us had to wait. It was not until Sunday morning that the water was hot enough to allow everybody to get a shower.
I wanted to address these issues sooner, but honestly have not had the time and honestly didn't want to think how bad the service was.

      Big Bear Cool Cabins

      Manager

We wish to offer our sincere apologies for the issues you had while staying with our company. It is not typical of Big Bear Cool Cabins to not have guest services prepared prior to a guests arrival and we apologize deeply for the mix up. We do make mistakes and we would like to apologize again. We would also like to apologize if they missed the cream cheese however Peanut Butter & Jelly is not included in the Breakfast Package, everything that is, is listed in Guest Web where you placed the order. As far as the hot water, sometimes pilot lights do go out but you can call us 24 hours a day and we would be more then happy to have someone come fix the issue for you. Once again we are so sorry for these issues and we want you to know that we did email you a discount to be used in the future, We hope you'll consider giving us another chance.

      Had a wonderful stay!

Left on 01/09/2013 for a stay in December 2012

The place is beautiful! We traveled to BB for a snow weekend with the family and this place hit the spot. Enough room for 7 of us to hang out, eat together, play games and play in the snow around the neighborhood. Kudos to the owners for such a nicely appointed cabin.

If you're traveling with a toddler like we were, beware of no bath. Our little guy really liked the handheld shower head upstairs, but this could be a deal breaker for little ones. The spiral staircase also caused us a little heartache, but we managed.

If you're driving in the snow, the driveway has a decent incline and gets icy. This can be tough to maneuver at night - I managed to scrape a tree on my way out ... I stayed put after that, but it took chains to get up the driveway on our way home (we took them off again at the top of the driveway).

I wouldn't suggest 6 showers in a row. Water heater worked better when they were spread out. Heater worked great. Christmas tree and snowman kit made for some great family photos. Location is a bit of a drive to the big stores at the other end of town ... 15 minutes in grueling bIg bear traffic ;)

All in all, a very nice cabin and a trip that we wouldn't trade! Thank you!!!

Perfect Big Bear cabin..Beautiful Spacious Comfortable

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in October 2012

This cabin is the best! My girlfriends and I appreciate a well decorated space and this place did not disappoint. It was large yet cozy. There was a nice deck off the large well stocked kitchen which faces a very nice wooded area. It was really perfect and we would love to go back again. Gorgeous wood walls stone fireplace nice TV good string shower. 2 recliners in the living room.. wrap around upgraded couch... better than what's in the photo. You will not be disappointed.

My second time staying here but first time booking it. The first time I went was with friends and as soon as I walked I was in shock at how beautiful the cabin was on the inside. Don't let the ugly brown color on the outside fool you, I loved the kitchen, dining area and how spacious the whole house was. I had to take my family there, they loved it as much as I did. It's only a few minutes walk, well maybe 10-15 min tops from the lake so i definitely got a good deal for summer. I don't like that they tease you with the hot tub out there, the keys they give you don't allow access to it or pretty much anything else but the front door and side door. The a/c also never kicked in upstairs, the down stairs was always nice and cool tho.. over all it was a good weekend and I would go back to boulder beauty :)

The location in Boulder Bay is close to the water and right off the main highway. At first I was concerned it might be noisy but it wasn't. In addition this cabin is lovingly cared for and well equipped. It was a delightful cabin and the service provided by Coll Cabins is well organized and professional.

      Trafffic and Hidden location.

Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in December 2011

The location was very hard to find. The house was hidden behind tree's and another property so it took us a while to find the place. Also since it was located on Big Bear Blvd the traffic to get in and out of this property was a pain in the butt. Other then that the cabin was perfect.

The house itself was a nice and comfortable cabin. The only negatives to point out was that the jacuzzi was not working which was dissapointing and there was no WiFi in the house. The password they gave us did not work.

The cabin itself was beautiful. the kitchen was very nice. the whole place was decorated nicely. the problem was the mess. it was dusty everywhere. big spider webs over everything. There was so much chlorine in the spa we had to flush it out. the chimeny was cloged. so when we started a fire the whole cabin filled with smoke. the place is nice, but whoever is supposed to clean the cabin, should do a better job next time. especially since it ran for 380 a night

Everything was great we did experience a electrical problem but was solved right away...the only the bad thing is that the jacuzzy was not available during that time due to snow but it would have been great if it was available!

I loved this cabin it was absolutely beautiful, very comfortable and had a great kitchen!!
The downside was that it was advertized as having internet access but the modem didn't work and they were unable to provide us with a new one. That was probably a blessing in disguise though!
We had to stay in town for a couple of extra days due to my mother falling and being hospitalized and luckily the cabin was still available so we were able just to stay put and focus on her.
