This was our first cabin trip. The service was great and in a great location. walking distant to alpine slide and local restaurants. walked to the lake and bowling alley close by. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival in the cabin, It was a good size. The cabin was upgraded, liked the kitchen area and a cozy feeling. Possibly the beds could have been a little better overall we enjoyed our stay. we will consider this cabin again in the future.

This place is good for rental stay, it is cozy and comfortable, near the lake.
We friends enjoyed a lot.
Cozy little place with one bathroom.

The cabin was a one bathroom cozy little place. The service for the cabin was good. The cabin had a full kitchen and was stocked with all the cooking utensils and pots and pans as needed. The bathroom was small and really had no ventilation. The floors were squeaky in the bedroom area, but the bed were very comfortable. The location was close to the village and the alpine slide.
Don't rent from BigBear Cool Cabins. Overpriced ripoff.

This place was lame. Don't rent this one. Don't rent from BigBear Cool Cabins. They overcharge. They don't always clean. Everything place I've rented from them (this was my 3rd) was a dive and still overpriced. Want something that's not falling apart, for a fair price? Rent from someone else.
A better overall Big Bear experience will be found elsewhere.

Let's start off with the actual property rental staff. I reserved a cabin online for one night. Later that night, I received a call informing me that the rental location I had reserved was flooded. The girl told me that she placed me in a different cabin that she thinks is wonderful. Would have preferred a refund, since the cabin I booked was not available. No such offer was made. However, if I didn't like the cabin she had chosen, she offered 2 other different cabins; an email would be sent with pictures of the three cabin choices. I didn't like the cabin and chose one of the other two cabins. She replied the next day saying that the cabin I chose was booked that morning. Attempt #2 fell through, and yet, still no offer for a refund was given. Reluctantly, I agreed to settle upon her cabin recommendation.
And then the check in. The kid at the front desk did not want to be there and it was quite obvious. And the girl behind him was quite possibly too comfortable in her chair to get up from her desk to check through the paperwork on the desk, waiting to be filed. Both sent me away to come back at a later time, both without any regard to an apology for any inconvenience that may have caused.
Onto review for said recommended "wonderful" cabin: Blue Jay.
When we first walked in, the whole house smelled of musky BBQ. All of the pots, pans and plates were filthy and crusted, and disgusting. We soaked everything for quite awhile just to try to clean everything off. The heater heated up the room in front of it, but no where else. The bathroom was poorly maintained. The living room was extremely dusty. Some of the towels had stains on them. The couches were so worn out. The beds were so uncomfortable that my friends and I all tossed and turned for hours on end, had back aches, and were up around 6am ready to leave this miserable place. Tired and uncomfortable, we left well before check out.

I loved this cabin, except for the 3 bedrooms being
So close together. We did have a problem with the heater
When we first arrived, but their maintenance guy came
Out in minutes and resolved that and we stayed warm the
everything is perfect!!!

It is a really perfect house for 4 or 5 people. Big kitchen, comfortable bedroom and cozy living room. They have everything in the kitchen, so if you want cook by yourself, just bring the food. And 10 or 15 mins walk to the lake. But there are two things you need to know, there's only one bathroom and one car parking. Anyway,I really like this place.
A good cabin

It's reasonable condition with enough big space for six people family. It is a good location near the lake and aphine water slide. There are a plenty of kitchen supply to use.

The web site was a little misleading as we booked for four people ans booked ski lift tickets for four people as well. However it turns out that we had to book four tickets for each day of the stay for the ski lift. The home was comfortable and homely. There was plenty of hot water and the heating system was marvelous. The location was quiet and the neighbours friendly. It was a short drive to the ski slopes but you definately need a car.

I have been visiting the Big Bear Lake area all my life, and my family just started using Cool Cabins this past 2011/2012 season. I visited for my 22nd birthday for 3 nights. I was able to receive an early check in which was nice, and I also received a call from the staff prior to my trip regarding any questions or concerns I might possibly have. After we checked into the office we headed down the road to the Blue Jay Cabin, upon arrival it looked slightly different from the pictures. I was disappointed to see the couches were kind of old and stained and the kitchen had no dish washer and a very small trash can with dirty pots, pans and glassware. I also found old, moldy smelling used wash cloths left in the shower... I would think with the included mandatory cleaning fee you pay when renting from cool cabins, that it would be left clean... on top of the cleaning you are expected to complete yourself before you check out. The rooms were ok, and there was a nice large table in the dining room, although the chairs seemed as they were going to collapse any second.
Overall I just don't feel it was worth what I paid..

We really liked the Blue Jay Cabin. It was roomy and spacious. Don't be fooled by the name, it was more like a house then a cabin. It was clean and comfortable. Well equipped with all of the necessary amenities.
I would go to that exact cabin again.

The couches were kind of gross and dirty. The dishes in the cabinets were wet. It stated it was a 3 bedroom that was a joke.

Reservation was easy to make and late check-in at security company was simple.
Cabin was exactly as pictured, clean, and everything was operable with the exception of some of the window blinds which were difficult to open but we got around it. Many moths were hiding out in the cabin when we arrived but we chased most of them out and co-existed with the others. It's definitely a cabin as opposed to a condo.
Location is a bit off the beaten path. Although you're right next door to several other cabins, we really didn't see anyone else in the neighborhood. Driveway is relatively steep for anyone with physical problems and the turn-in to the road from the main street can be a bit scary as the approach from one direction is something of a blind curve. We were worried a couple of times that the car following us would rear end us b/c they're just far enough behind us that they don't see us stop to turn left into the street.
Nice and Cozy Stay with very tiny dot view of the lake

Cabin was very comfortable and was great with forest view. But it was little discouraging as we were told we would have lake view too - we could only see only a dot of lake water, through the woods.

We had a great time in this cabin over 4 days during February. The entrance begins with an an enclosed mudroom so it makes entering and exiting the house during cold weather a lot more comfortable and convenient. The living room is quite large with comfortable couches. There is a TV in the living room with DVD and VCR built in (although when we tried to use them the tv would turn off) In the next room is a large table that seats 8. We actually had friends over for dinner one night. Great fun. The kitchen is quite modern and had everything we needed. There are two separate bedrooms which are small but comfortable. There is another bed in a walkway from the living areas to the bedrooms. The bathroom is very functional, although with two teenagers, it does take some coordination. The cabin is only a couple miles from Snow Summit, which was convenient. The driveway is fairly steep so we would recommend parking at the bottom of the driveway if you think it will snow overnight. That makes the snow shoveling a lot easier. :) Overall, I would say that this cabin is a great place for a family to stay and enjoy Big Bear.
Family Trip to Big Bear

Our stay at Big Bear Mountain was awesome! I traveled with my husband and 5 boys. The cabin was beautiful and we had everything we needed to make our stay home like. The fireplace was dreamy and the setting of the cabin was like a movie. I highly recommend this place to all my family in Texas. We are planning our next trip in the summer, but they cannot wait for next winter to take a trip and play on the snow, and enjoy the setting.Totally loved Big Bear!!
Our new favorite Thanksgiving tradition!
Left on 12/15/2010 for a stay in November 2010 | CAPeel
We stayed over the Thanksgiving holiday and used the full kitchen and large dining table to enjoy a great holiday feast overlooking the snow outside. That dinner was my favorite memory of the stay. The cabin was very comfortable and had a lot of space, more beds than even our large family needed. The house was decorated for the holidays and even had holiday books to read to the boys at bedtime, which made the experience even more pleasant. The only draw back was that there was only one bathroom. However, I was pleased to find the comp basket of shampoo, soap and lotion.
Our four boys loved to play in the snow that surrounded the property and we walked next door to the alpine Slide and had a blast tubbing all day. The wall heater pilot blew out, probably caused from a draft as the boys kept going in and out of the front door, so the cabin got pretty cold. I called the office and they sent a handy man right away to fix it. He was very polite and efficient, especially since it was Thanksgiving about dinner time when he came. He kindly gave us instructions and a special lighter, to re light it if happened again. It didn't. We lit a fire and enjoyed that while the heater warmed up the house again. We only used the fire place that one time, because the smoke smell bothered me, but I'm really sensitive to smells like that. Temperature control is an issue they should look into for future updates. One bed is right in front of the heater and gets very toasty with heat while the rooms in the back of the house are still chilly. There were lots of extra clean blankets so we all managed fine.
We had to leave a day earlier than planned because of the expected snowfall. We didn't think we would be able to make it up and down the driveway if we had any more snow. My husband and boys didn't want to spend too much time shoveling the driveway.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and felt like very comfortable and welcome like we were staying in a relative's home. Read more
It is nice to hear you and your family had such a great time over the Thanksgiving holiday! I apologize for the issues you had in maintaining the heat in the house. I will make sure to take a look at that and see if there is anything we can do to make that more comfortable to our guests. We are always striving to better our company and make our guests happy and any feedback we get is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.
