Left on 05/02/2013 for a stay in April 2013
The cabin was clean and comfortable. The view of the ski slopes and lake from the back deck was fantastic! We spent most of our weekend out on the deck relaxing and enjoying the view. The only negative comment would be the strong odor of smoke when you first enter the cabin from the fireplace.

Ventura, CATerrific views and perfect size for a small family
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012
I'll start by saying that the cabin was as advertised. It was clean, and had wonderful views of the mountains, and a partial view of the lake in the distance. The log cabin look gave it an extra appeal as a mountain getaway. The price was very reasonable relative to other available cabins, and I can happily say I have no regrets about booking it. Of course, there are things that can be done to improve the experience such as adding a larger, flatscreen television (they really aren't expensive anymore), more comfortable mattresses (that, however, could be expensive), and removal of the many spiderwebs that must develop between leases. Though I will still shop around next time I vacation in Big Bear, I will keep this one at the top of my list.

I really enjoyed staying at Dun Roamin because the cabin was very well kept (as in clean). I had kids with me and that was one of my biggest concerns. The size of the cabin was perfect for us (2adults, 3kids) The view from the balcony was breath taking!

The cabin was great for me, my wife and our 8 month old baby! It was in a quiet neighborhood high in the mountains, but really close to the lake and the village (5 minute drive to each). The main attraction to this cabin was the deck off of the back door. It offered a gorgeous view of the mountains, treetops and the lake. We ate breakfast and dinner there every night!

Perfect little getaway, the kids had a great time upstairs, the wife and I hung out dowstairs. The cabin is off the beaten path, it's nice to be away from all the traffic. The kids really enjoyed playing outside especially the playhouse. Would have given 5 stars if the cob webs were cleaned up and if there was an outside fire pit.

Great Cabin! Clean and in a great location. The owner did a good job in giving it a cabin feel. Everything worked and was functional. There are two beds. One upstairs and one downstairs. I highly recommend the downstairs because the upstairs bed is very lumpy and very uncomfortable - it has to be replaced. Towels are not great so bring your own to use after a shower if you want to be more comfortable.

San Diego, CAA Perfect Little Winter Cabin
Left on 12/30/2011 for a stay in December 2011
This cabin is exactly what we would imagine a little winter retreat would be. We loved the decor...everything was that knotty pine wood. There was plenty of room in the main living area to play and eat. The downstairs bedroom was good size and the upstairs loft was very cool. It was nice to have some dvds to use while there. The various heat options (wood burning stove with blower, gas heat, and electric wall units) ensured we stayed toasty warm. My only hope would be to have an optional fireplace grill to put in front of the wood burning stove for safety. We have two toddlers that we had to watch vigilantly that they would not get burned. It also had great views. Parking was easy. It was located just far enough from the hustle and bustle but not too far that we couldn't get into town quickly and easily. We had a perfect little holiday getaway! Thanks!

Dun Roamin' was a nice place to stay, but I wouldn't say it was excellent. The check in process was not very smooth. The office was too small to accomodate all the people checking in (we were early too). We had a baby and there were so many inconveniences for us. The first was the entrance into the cabin. So icy that I had to really watch my step. The other was the heater. It came out at the baby's height and was just too hot (and of course my baby was fascinated by it). The water temperature was scorching! The paperwork I received said I could change the temp, but we couldn't find the water heater (assuming it was locked up). There were cobwebs throughout the ceiling. The two Tv's were so small we practically had to squint to see them. All the electrical outlets were not easily disguised. The thing the really got us was that we had to go into town to empty our own garbages. The line was extremely long (I guess this is a Cool Cabins thing?)

Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in November 2003
Our family decided to spend Thanksgiving at Big Bear this year. We looked at a few available cabins and decided to pick Dun Roamin and it was a great choice! Our 2 young boys loved their own quarters upstairs in the loft. My wife and I enjoyed the view of the ski slope and the lake from the deck. The house is located in the Moonridge area and it takes us exactly 4 minutes to drive to Bear Mountain resort. It is in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by pine trees. We brought with us steaks and salmon to BBQ while we enjoy the view. The TV in the living room is a bit small and old, but we didn't spend a lot of time watching TV anyways. They also offer many Dvd's to choose from. I would have given it a 6 star if there was a hot tub. The wireless internet was very thoughtful, my family was happy to be able to use their iPad and iPhone. When you pick up your key, make sure you get firewood there as well for the fireplace. We enjoyed roasting chestnuts and cooking our sweet potatoes in it. We will definitely return!

Very cute and comfortable. Our family enjoyed staying there. My kids love the playhouse so much. We planned to be back again on winter time. Just one thing, it should have WiFi or wireless Internet instead of just high speed one. Please consider to improve so it would be perfect for vacation stay! Thank you.

After a family tragedy and months of very difficult times, this was the perfect place for us to reflect, rediscover, rejuvinate, reaquaint and simply enjoy life, laughter and eachother. We look forward to returning next year. We highly recommend you try it for yourself. It's worth it. Everything you need is there. Just bring your own food or eat out at local restaurants. You may want to bring your own soft large bath towels. Kick back and enjoy! We did. Very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the deck with a view of the lake in the distance.

Los AngelesWe'll come back again!
Left on 10/19/2011 for a stay in October 2011
My brother stayed at Dun Roamin with his family and recommended it to us. We came with our 21 month old and had a positive experience! Comfortable furnishings. The best bed we've ever experienced while traveling, actually. The fully functional kitchen was a joy compared to restaurant food day and out. The place was cozy (a bit hot when the afternoon sun streamed in... I'd imagine the cabin is too hot for comfort during the summer). My only gripes: next to the children's slide in the back, there was some concrete embedded in the ground with nails sticking up out of it. This needs to be fixed -- very dangerous for kids. Also, at first we thought that some of the lights didn't work, and it took a while to realize that they were unplugged from the wall, because there's no other way to turn them off (wall switches/lamp switches seemed not to work for them). Also the upstairs ceiling fan wouldn't turn on no matter what we did. None of this spoiled the fact that we really liked Dun Roamin and would return again! Oh, and the folks in the office were friendly and accommodating as well.

Dun Roamin is a very nice cabin. It's located high in the Moonridge area and has terrific views of the Bear Mountain slopes and the lake from a very spacious deck. It has a very compact layout and a very "cabiny" feel. We had 6 people in our party (4 females), so the compact layout and the single bathroom made for somewhat cramped quarters. The only other negative for us was the sliding door to the deck took a lot of muscle to open. Other than that, it's a terrific little cabin and I would recommend it for a party of 4-5.

This is a lovely cabin in Moonridge, with gorgeous views, and you can see Big Bear Lake from the deck. Also it has a playhouse and a sandbox in which the kids really enjoyed. The cabin has everything you need, all you have to bring is your clothes and food. There is nothing bad to say about this cabin, my family and I really enjoyed it. I definitely will stay again. Maybe try for winter.

Left on 08/18/2011 for a stay in August 2011
The house is in a very nice area. Amazing view and a beautiful deck. You can even see the lake from the deck. Everything was fine with the house except the barbecue which in my case was one of the most important items in a vacation house.
The barbecue was extremely dirty and supper small good for maybe one or two people. We got to the cabin around 2:00PM and wanted to start the barbecue as I have a one year old child and she was hungry. After looking at the condition of the grill, I had to call Coolcabin and ask for a replacement grill. I have been told that the grill was provided by the owner and cannot be replaced. All they could do was to send someone to clean it for us. Well, it didn't get very clean afterwards and we ended up eating half done half raw meat for our lunch and dinner.
Overall, if you are renting this cabin and want to use the grill, make sure to take your own. Otherwise it will ruin your stay.

Very comfortable, with great views, and our daughter (2 1/2) loved the play house and sandbox. Our only quibbles were a few small things in need of repair: a ripped screen door, some non-functioning light switches. But overall we don't think we could have chosen better.

We are very happy to hear that you and your guests had an excellent time at Dun Roamin. Dun Roamin has a lot of comfort and ammenities to offer its guests, and we are glad that you felt the same way. According to our records you were given a last minute discount for your first stay with our company, and when you called to inquire about the next weekend you were also quoted a price with a repeat guest discount. The reason why the prices were not the same is because the first time you booked you were paying one night at a weekend rate and the second at a mid-week rate. The second time you called for a price you requested two nights which were both weekend rates, but you were still offered a repeat guest discount. Thank you for taking the time to share information regarding your stay, we look forward to doing business with you in the future.

This cozy home had everything we were looking for. The look and feel of a woody getaway cabin in the mountains, plus a stunning view. We slept in the loft area upstairs and it was nice to be able to wake up and see the mountains from our bed. Everything was clean and the bed was very comfortable. We slept like kittens!
We loved the style of the house and the windows made it feel open and light. The kitchen had everything we needed and the deck was fantastic. We could see skiers in the distance from the living area and even a peek of the lake. Enjoyed looking out with our morning coffee and breakfast.
