The Grizzly Bear was a great cabin. It's just what you think of when renting a mountain house. It's woodsy, retro, and everything good about the mountains.
The only problem is the bed is so bad, I had to sleep on the couch my entire stay, and then the heater in the living room is loud so every time it kicked on all night I woke up. I want' to give this place a better review because I did like it, but I need sleep as well! Read more
We just wanted to let you know we appreciate you leaving us your feedback and we will definitely mention the bed to the homeowner!

A Nice Cabin if Cool Cabins would clean the Fireplace Chimney
Left on 01/31/2014 for a stay in January 2014 | SD - Family
We had a good stay due to our positive attitude!Since there wasn't any snow (no one can control this obviously) we wanted to have hot soaks in the Hot Tub and Romantic fires while indoors. The Fireplace was so clogged that the first night when I made a Fire to have a romantic evening with my wife we were so smoked out that we left the cabin choking and gagging with all the windows open and went to the Black Tavern inn. Only to return to try sleep and awoke in the middle of the night with sore throats and burning eyes. Continued poor maintenance could result in serious health and fire hazard. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. I have made a work order to have the chimney inspected. Next time, please give our office a call and let us know if there are ANY issues and we will do everything in our power to make it right. We hope to see you soon! We did just get some snow last night!
had an awesome time!

Cool cabin with an extreme fireplace! Loved it! The windows above the fireplace makes you feel like the forest is literally in the living room! Will book again

I had a wonderful time in Big Bear. The cabin was great, nice little getaway for two. It definitely looks bigger in person than in pictures. Over all I had a great experience with the cabin and Big Bear. However, the experience I had checking in was terrible to say the least. I don't know what the lady's name was that checked us in but she was younger with long black hair. She was extremely rude and condescending, definitely bad for business. Great cabin terrible service

Stayed a couple of times at different locations. Each time was great. Cabins are comfortable, affordable and convenient to find. Check in was simple and staff very helpful. Nothing to complain about except, never enough time to stay longer.. Thanks and will be back. David

This cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway. The kitchen has every appliance you will need and the stereo system is great. Jacuzzi, fireplace, and a cozy cabin for 2. Will definitely be back!

The pictures are a little dated. The bedroom has been updated a bit and overall the cabin was nicer than I expected. I would love to see a Netflix enabled TV in the main room, but that's being nitpicky. The hot water in the shower was lukewarm at best and didn't last long. Great cabin, will defiantly stay here again.

This cabin is close to the golf course and the zoo. Overall it was a good experience a little outdated, the TV in the living is an old school tv. The cable kept freezing up which was annoying. The kitchen was nice had newer appliances the only thing there was no salt (lol). Overall I was sastified with the price.
It was a Peaceful & Quite time!

Service was good..Cabin was clean & confortable..Location is Great and was easy to find..As far as amenties go Cabin should have Hand Towels in bathroom & newer Bath Towels.. Hot Water Heater needs to be set higher as water was just luke warm! Other than that the Cabin was in good condition & we had a pleasant stay..

This was the best Big Bear vacation ever!!! I am a single mom of 3 boys and we always come in spring break. This is our 4th year using Cool Cabins and this cabin has been the best. Everything worked and my boys were happy!!! The price was reasonable and I had no problems getting there... :)

Thanks Cool Cabins for the easy instructions. The cabin was wonderful with a cozy fireplace a nice upright piano and a hot tub was already warmed up for us. It was just 2 minute drive to the Bear Mountain lifts (upper parking lot). We were on a nice quiet cul de sac with driveway parking for 2 cars. Would definitely recommend. The only thing that would've improved our stay is if there were a heater in the bedroom. However the one in the living room worked just fine.

Just enough room for two...very clean...well equipped...quiet neighborhood. Nice fall getaway. Spa is in an awkward position. Needs more privacy or new location ?? Enjoyed the fireplace and quality audio system. Driveway might be tricky with snow and ice. We were sad to leave.

First off, Big Bear Cool Cabins was great. I definitely recommend them. Unfortunately the Grizzly Bear cabin was dirty. When we arrived I went in before my wife and daughter and noticed a lot of cobwebs, which she saw before I could brush them away. There was pieces of cracked tile grout on much of the floor. At first it didn't seem too bad, but we noticed more and more grossness as time went on. For example, there was dirt or some black gritty stuff in the sheets, so my wife washed them. At one point I wiped a little water off the bathroom floor and the towel came up black. It was like they did a very superficial cleaning, but had not mopped in ages. There was a lot of personal nick knacks left by the owner (clutter) as well as underwear in the drawers. The owner should take their clothes home or lock them up and get rid of the kerosine lamps and Chinese tea cups, etc. On the plus side, the WiFi and Washer and Dryer are nice as is the hot tub. We decided to cut our trip short, so we checked out after 1 nite. Bbcc was very nice and offered to move us, but we decided to head home and go to the beach and the zoo. The cabin has a lot of potential, but needs to be cleaned up. I have to add this: a lot of people say they should have put the hot tub on the deck, but the deck can't support that much weight. The place is pretty cool. Well furnished and the washer and dryer was very much appreciated. They even had a brand new sled for us to use on the balcony. The back of the cabin has a hill in which we enjoyed to sled.
Overall, pretty cool place. It was a friends getaway, with a bbq night. Pretty awesome.

Main bed, room tv, and room in general was small and not appealing, ended up sleeping on pull out couch bed, as it was more comfortable and you could watch a bigger tv in living room. Hot tub should be on balcony, behind the house. The ceiling was covered in webs. The tile had chips and cracks.
Really close to other houses, so privacy outside on balcony is limited.
Pros: shower and all plumbing worked excellent. All utilities are provided and some extras, such as pancake mix and wood. Entertainment was very good, as they had a DVD, stereo, and VHS players. Close to Walgreens, sizzler, liquor store, snow summit, zoo.

Jacuzzi should be on deck and not in the back of the cabin...no cleaning supplies left for us even though we were instructed to clean. Bed was not comfortable in fact, slept on couch.
Great location - TV too small for the price again. If I am paying $300.00 a night for a 1 bedroom I don't think I should have to clean and that the bed is very comfortable maybe some goose down linens. we actually were falling into the middle of the bed. So if you want to make it up to us give us another weekend free or half the cost. Thank you Michelle Lee Boolen

The service was good. The cabin was nice and neat for our arrival. It had all the cookware we needed and more. The living room looks and feels really cozy. There was a piano in the living room but i think it needs some tuning. There is plenty of space outside to make a snowman but its close to friendly neighbors, and just five minutes from markets and stores. I liked the living room best and its hard to complain about anything.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the grizzly bear cabin in big bear lake, ca. The cabin was beautiful and cozy, just perfect for a couple. It had all the imentities of home. However I was disappointed in bigbearcoolcabins for not honoring and ad in one of their magazines we found on the coffee table stating a free gift basket with rental. We were told the ad had to be mentioned at the time of reservation, but there was no way of knowing about this until after the fact. There was no indication of a free gift basket on the website at time of reservation. That was poor customer service on their part.
It was cozy and we had a great time.

Loved this location! it was far enough (about a mile) from the town, yet only a short 5 min drive to the lake. We didn't want to be in a condo "cabin", so the relative remoteness was really nice. Nice patio with wooden rockers to chill. Bbq and Jacuzzi were perfect for relaxing and griling up some Rainbow Trout that were swimming in the lake a few hours earlier. Only complaint - Cable didn't work. But we managed without TMZ and the Kardashians for a couple of relaxing days.
I'll definetly be back. Read more
Thank you for the great review, and for being great guests! We have sent maintenance to the property to look at the cable; we look forward to welcoming you to Big Bear in the future!

Well, thank you for the "friendly reminder" to be kind with my words because I am reviewing someone's home... I could definitely tell it was someone's house... It looked as if My grandparents bought it when they were early married and then never updated it. It had a weird vibe and the whole reason we chose to go to a cabin instead of a hotel was to have a private place with a comfy bed and a private jacuzzi. Well, it was private- I guess. The "walking distance to the lake" was very incorrect. It was about 5 miles from the lake, out in the woods. The comfy bed we were looking for was horrible. It felt as if we were sleeping in a hammock. Our feet were above our head, if I wanted to lay on my side and not roll toward the middle smashing against my husband then I had to hold onto the mattress (which I did choose to do at about 2 am). We thought our bed at home was bad- I have never slept this uncomfortably! Then, the other reason we chose this place was for the private jacuzzi. Well, it was private, but it had so much chlorine that when you took the top off it instantly burned our eyes and throat with the fumes. We thought we would leave the top off for a little bit so it could air out- didn't help. We were only able to spend about 10 minutes in the jacuzzi before our eyes burned and were red and this was with us lifting our bodies away from the water trying to still enjoy it. When my husband started coughing from the fumes we knew it was time to get out. Horrible. The whole reason we went... Big waste of money!! Especially when I found online that there is a hotel "with a lake view window and private jacuzzi at the window" for $10 cheaper than this run down place. The staff who was supposed to help us was very rude and snotty. We were so disappointed that this was our one night away from our small children and we spent so much money and could not wait to get home because our stay made us more tired than if we would have just stayed home and we were $189 out. Horrible! Read more

The cabin had oevery amenity we needed. We cooked our christmas dinner there. We used the oven, pots and pans and everything that we needed. The cabin has a great back yard because it had a hill that we sledded from the whole time. We had no need to go find a place. But the bed in the bedroom sucked, in my opinion it needs to be replaced.. but overall it was great.

My wife and I found the perfect getaway spot in Big Bear. Cool Cabins provided an excellent location to stay while visiting Big Bear. Specifically, the Grizzly Bear cabin. The accomodations were clean and well prepared and offered more luxuries than one would expect in a cabin. I highly recommend this company and this specific cabin.

We had a great time staying at this cabin. The trees' growing right out of the patio. Fire place for those chilly nights, we used it every night, and love it! It had a tv etc. but we chose not to use and just get back in touch with each other and nature. We left very refreshed and jovial! Would do it again in a heart beat!
