Lakefront cabin with three bedrooms, one bath, fireplace, cable TV, DVD player, and full kitchen with stove/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, dishes, pots/pans, and more. On the Lake with a dock! Barbecue outside. Just a few minutes to the ski slopes, golf, zoo, horsebacking riding, hiking, biking, shops, and restaurants. Caution in winter, steep driveway.
Bedroom one has a king bed.
Bedroom two has a queen bed.
Bedroom three has two twin beds.
Maximum occupancy 6. Parking for 3 vehicles.

The home is in an ideal location. The problem is that this little place needs some TLC. Several things didn't work & out of all the cabins we've stayed in up there this had the least provisions. Re: Salt & pepper. Again, it was a perfect setting & the fishing was good. We would definitely stay there again bringing our own salt & pepper.

The place is right ext to the lake which is a plus for sure. Just note that no internet here. The house was a bit old but everything needed are there. The heater somehow adjusted itself down in mid night or after. My parents woke up freezing. The driveway is very steep as described. Do not park down there if u have no experience w driving in snow/icy. There were couple bags of trash sitting outside of the cabin when we arrived. I called the office and they said they would pick them up but still sat there the next day we were leaving. The washer sill had couple towel left undried when we were there. Afterall the house is very cozy. Love the decoration inside. We made a mini snowman on the deck. Got direct tv every room!!!

The location for this cabin is wonderful. The views out the front are amazing. We were there in January and it was cold. The heaters work, but the bedrooms are not insulated very well. The bathroom is functional, but very dated and one wall needs repair. The cooking stove is gas and sometimes you need a match to start the burner. The bay was frozen when we were there, so it made such a different view than it would in the summer. It was quiet and really cool to watch the ducks and birds on the ice. The cabin view is of Metcalf bay with a marina to your left and the lake to your right.

this property is on the small side but so breath taking during the start of the snow season when you first get fresh snow fall. the mini slope is great for sleighing.parking is a bit of a challenge for 2wheel drive because its down near the loading dock. the house was fully stocked. the kitchen has everything you need for small or large meals. living space and bedrooms had plenty of space. closest was bolted shut so we had out luggage everywhere .all in all i would for sure return . i love the mini decor . my favorites was "a fisherman lives here with the catch of his life".best winter retreat I'd had experienced.

The view from this location is stunning - because you face the west we had the most beautiful sunsets, got to see the Pirate ship and other ships coming in and out of the bay. This home has a rustic flair to it which made the visit extra special. The only thing I would suggest is that the cleaning crew do a little better. The hanging lamp and small boat on the mantel could use some attention. Other than that all was great and would consider booking here again for a small group. Typically we have about 10 - 18. This small group was very happy.

The cabin appears to be older, but very clean with great views of the lake. The deck needs some work and some fresh paint but still great to use for an evening dinner under the stars. I will stay there again for sure. The only problem that I have experienced is with the rental property next door. It was rented to a loud group of college kids that were very loud all night long. So I guess it's a hit or miss depending who rents the unit next door.

We have a great time at Lakefront Retreat. The view was so lovely. We sat and watched all the boats coming in and our of the harbor. At one point we walked out to the deck and saw a rainbow. Would rent again.

we have rented through Cool Cabins for the past 3 years, this was our 5th or 6th rental. not the best. we were asked to return at 3pm for check in- ( ok w/that, that is check in ) but at 4 cabin was still not cleaned. they were there. the house is in need of maintenance, and upon reviewing commens from prior stays, the repairs have not been addressed.. safety issues, loose balcony boards, etc. Granted it is an older home, view was nice, but not worth the money this time. :(

We had a fabulous weekend staying at this cabin. It was perfect. We only had 2 minor issues. There was a coffee maker but the carafe was missing. I drove to the office and they replaced it no problem. Also the BBQ that was there was not usable. I called the office and within an hour they delivered a brand new one. They were fantastic. We can't wait to go again and stay at this same place.Thank You.

Wow, where do I start. This is a very nice and beautiful cabin, well maintained, big bedrooms, comfortable beds and very spacious. Kitchen and living room are big enough to move around especially when you are in a party of say 7 or 8, bathroom is very nice and clean. This is an overall well priced cabin and would recommend anyone to stay here at any time. i am definitely booking it for the summer since the lake is literally in the back yard.
The fishing was the best part of the cabin, over a 3 day weekend we caught over 40 fish which included rainbow trout, flat head catfish and the amazing carp. Cant wait to do it again and I am booking this cabin once again. -

Great location with a short walk to the lake. Quiet and scenic. A bit more rustic than we expected. A few minor fixes would go a long way toward return trips: screen door on deck so you can enjoy the cool breeze at sunset without being inundated by gnats and bugs. New BBQ, or clean and fix current one. Better internal cleaning pre-visit - get rid of spider webs, etc. We killed a lot of spiders, probably because it hadn't been used in a while. Proper fireplace utensils. We're "campers" so we adjusted. Overall, we had a vice nice stay.

My family and I were pleasently surprised at the location of the cabin. The view from the deck outside was well worth the price. The cabin itself could use a good cleaning but the sheets and towels were clean, it was well stocked with pots and pans and the refrigerator was also clean.
We needed to buy more paper towels for the kitchen and toilet paper for the five adults that were staying there for three days.
The only real negative were the loose boards on the deck. We had small children with us and we had to watch very carefully for the boards that would pop up on one end when they stepped on the other end. Also the steps down to the water need to be repaired.
Overall it was a very enjoyable stay. We will probably rent a different cabin next time, one where we could launch our boat.Response from Big Bear Cool Cabins - 08/20/2011

This cabin was very dated! The Christmas ornaments were still up in the house! The dock was in such bad shape you couldn't use it or even get to it for that matter. The deck is also in need of repair! I would not stay here again!

We stayed under the impression we had a boat dock available to us, pool table and swimming. I even asked to confirm. Once we arrived, we were disappointed. The owner had his boat parked in the slip, the water was mossy and the pool table had been taken out. When we complained they said the owner parked the boat there during the off season, but failed to mention that to us when we made the reservation. The photo is misleading and at the end we felt it was overpriced. We have had good experiences from previous rentals but not this one.
