The location is excellent. Walking distance from the slopes which is really convenient! Also, right across from the zoo, which was really cool! The check in time was after 400 pm. That seems really late but okay. The house was very modest with only space heaters. Again, okay if they all worked! Parts of this house are freezing including most bedrooms! We also had issues with the water heater burrr and the oven door basically fell of and smashed to pieces! The driveway is very steep, so thank god no snow or else it would of been bad for cars great for sleds. I wish we would of spent a little bit more and gotten a moderate cabin that was warm.
Great cabin for the price

Great cabin for the price. Worked out perfect for our family, a little outdated but comfortable. Loved having the zoo right across the street, we listened to the wolfs howl at night. My grand kids loved the bunk beds and air hockey table, even though there wasn't a puck they used a poker chip. Kitchen had everything we needed for food preparation. The hot tub on the deck was nice and we really enjoyed it. The location was perfect for skiing and snowboarding on bear mountain, you could walk. If you need luxury, this cabin isn't for you, but if you just want a comfortable cabin in a great location this is it. Read more

Our family had a great time in Big Bear. The outdoor hot tub really made the cabin a fun experience. The only issue was our check in process. We were not informed that our initial cabin was no longer available when we checked in due to the cabin having electrical issues. We were told we were being upgraded to better cabin for the inconvenience. Although the cabin was in better and more convenient area, it didnt seem like an upgrade.
Nice but a bit outdated.

Cute, cozy but a bit outdated. The far room with 2 twin beds is a bit cold but its awesome because on top it has extra beds. The kitchen is nice but the stove and fridge are a bit old. The living room was really comfortable but it needs a new tv. The other 3 rooms were nice, the master bedroom has its own bathroom which is really nice and is fairly big. For some reason the masterbedroom did not have any blankets. The outdoor furniture needs some refurnishment, the chairs were floppy and were missing nails, also a couple of our guest got splinters from the chairs. The thing I liked best was its location the cabin is in front tof the zoo and fairly close to the shops. Overall We enjoyed the cabin!! Read more
Thank you for taking the time to share the details of your stay! We have informed the owners of the home of the suggestions for improvement and have sent maintenance to the home to address the outdoor furniture. Thank you once again!

When I first walked into the cabin the kitchen floor was full of mud and I had to clean it myself. The vacuum was broken so I couldn't clean before I left as good as the instructions asked. I give this cabin 2 stars. Never renting this place again. Read more

Our stay was excellent. Fast check in and home was close to everything. Right across from the zoo and the slopes. We were in the hot tub every night and enjoyed the views. The only negative was the steep driveway and in the snow it was very difficult to get up. Other than that we had a great time and would go again in the future. Thanks Big Bear Cool Cabins!!

We stumbled into staying at the Chalet because the other cabin that we were going to stay at wasn't quite up to par with location for the dogs and kids (on a main road with the lovely sounds of 55 MPH traffic about 10 feet from the front window). We settled in for our 3 night stay and suddenly discovered that the master shower hot water wasn't working. The next morning I used the guest bath to take a shower. We complained to the staff and they sent someone out to fix the master shower during the day while we were out at the lake. When we got back to the Chalet the master shower was fixed but the guest bath tub was still full of water which hadn't drained from the shower I took almost 10 hours prior. I called the office and the recording stated the office was closed and to call the 'emergency' number for immediate assistance. After an hour of receiving a busy signal on the emergency number I gave up. Apparently, the emergency line is available only when it's convenient for the so called 'help'. So, 1 shower in a house that holds 11 people and no help to remedy the situation.
On to dinner; when we tried to BBQ there was a family of spiders that had made a cozy home for themselves in the grill. It looked as though that grill hadn't been used in years but there's a huge sign inside the house that you cannot use charcoal or you will be charged for replacement of the grill. So needless to say we used the oven.
Onto in house entertainment! On the patio is a hot tub complete with rules for use posted adjacently, but no worries about breaking any of the rules when staying here - the hot tub has no water in it and has a padlock. If you watch TV make sure you bring a young-un with you to run up to change the channel for you since the 4 remotes provided on the '1980's entertainment center' don't work. Be careful when sitting; there are broken chairs in both the dining room and on the patio and we already covered the 'emergency number' and immediate assistance you'll get. Read more

Stayed here during mid January and the cabin was really cozy. There were 4 rooms (1 master, 1 room with a bunk bed, 1 room with 1 bed, and the "game room" that had 2 beds that dropped down from the wall.) The game rooms heater was working, but we had the fireplace going so it still kept that part of the cabin warm.
The drive way was really steep and there was ice so make sure you have a 4x4 SUV to drive up to the top.
The backyard would've been nice to hang out at but it was covered in snow/ice so we didn't get a chance to use it.
The Jacuzzi was awesome! Great view of the sunset and had nice changing mood lights.
The Location was great because across the street was the animal sanctuary and you can see the buffaloes and bears from the cabin.
The main reason for renting out the cabin was to go snowboarding at big bear. Little did we know that it was 5 minutes walking distance. So you can go snowboarding and come back to the cabin for lunch and go back onto the slopes.
Overall it was a great place to stay during the winter!
