Absolutely loved the cabin.
The TV volume wouldn't turn too high and one of the cable boxes in the bedrooms wasn't working. Other than everything was great.
The view is phenomenal. -

The house is beautiful. It has flat TVs in all the rooms with cable signal. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5, is that it wasn't very clean when we arrived. It had spiderwebs in each corners of the house.

The house was not clean at all. The upper bathroom had dirty napkins on the floor.Spiders were coming out of the sink all the time, and spiders were found within the blankets. the whole unit smelt bad. It was a terrible stay. Told this to Cool Cabins at check out.

The service at check-in and check-out was efficient and went smoothly. The staff was very courteous. The cabin itself was charming but in great need of TLC. One of the sliding doors leading to the balcony was close to impossible to open, even for the guys. The windows were dirty throughout the cabin and looked like they had not been cleaned for a very long time. The downstairs bathrooms were dirty, specifically the toilets. The cabin had a very dated décor with the Christmas decorations still on display in June. One of the blinds in the bedroom was torn. Another room had no blinds. The carpet upstairs was dirty. The only great value that the cabin had to offer was the location and the spectacular views.

The staff at Big Bear Cool Cabins are all very friendly and polite. There were absolutely no issues with the process of my reservation or when I checked in/out. The home was very nice but it did have a few flaws. As we walked in we felt like we kept walking through spiderwebs hanging from wall to wall in certain hallways and some of the rooms did not have curtains on the windows. The dishes in the house were very dirty and some even had little critters in them. So we had to wash all dishes we used before we used them.
The house itself is very nice and in a very nice accessible area. The parking was comfortable for 4 vehicles although we only had 2.
Besides feeling like the cabin was a bit dirty when we first arrived, we had a nice stay with no issues.Response from Big Bear Cool Cabins - 07/18/2012

Nice and spacious with beautiful views but the dishwasher didn't work. Management said the owners need to purchase a new one. Wish we would have known that before. We had to wash all dishes at the last minute by hand. The cabin has ample room for larger families and fit all of us comfortably. But inside the cabin was not well lit. The living room has no lighting as well as the outside patio area. We took lamps from the bedrooms. The coffee maker was so slow, that it took 45 minutes to brew. The bbq lid did not stay on and fell on our meat. Unless Cool Cabins or the owners fix these problems, I don't think you want to rent this place.

Check-in was very easy and the staff was great. First thing we noticed were the amazing views. There are lots of beds, but the bunks were in pretty bad shape. Here is where it gets bad...the place was very dusty and needs some TLC. The dishwasher, coffee maker and sliding glass door did not work. 2 of the bedrooms did not have any lamps/lights, there were missing/broken light bulbs in some of the lamps that did work. The BBQ was a complete disgusting mess and the lid hinge is gone, so the lid just falls off onto the ground. The igniter didn't work, no matches, and no wire brush. The fireplace was missing the gas key. Only a couple of the windows throughout the house have blinds (even in the bedrooms) and about half of those were broken. I called on our first night to let them know about the dishwasher and the broken light bulbs/missing lamps. They sent out a guy within about 30 minutes. He replaced all of the broken light bulbs, gave us a key to the gas valve on the fireplace, and checked out the dishwasher. He couldn't fix the old dishwasher and told us he would let the owners know that it needs to be replaced. The bummer part was that the solution was...we will bring you some dish soap to wash them dishes by hand (which they did). Bummer because no one wanted to do dishes for 10 by hand while on vacation.
It snowed like crazy on the second night, which was really awesome. We woke up to about 8 inches of snow on the ground the next morning. I actually knew this going in, but we had to shovel the snow...about 3 feet of snow piled up in the driveway after the plow went by. Unfortunately, we only had one shovel, so it took a while. We had chains on our trucks, so we didn't have any trouble getting in or out of the driveway.
The cabin has great potential, it just needs some love. It is good for large families, but I probably wouldn't recommend it unless they make some upgrades or at least fix what is currently broken.Response from Big Bear Cool Cabins - 04/08/2012

Employees of cool cabins were friendy on the phone, gave us our keys, and we were headed to our cabin. Everyone loved our stay. The cabin had dishes, toiletries, and tv in every room. Great location, 1 min. from bear mountain ski lifts. At the end of the street, if there had been more snow, it would be great spot for free sledding.

Comfortable stay. I think a few small fixes would have gone a long way in the quality of this cabin. Several window blinds were broken & should be replaced. We found the gas barbeque was not cleaned from prior use, with the dirty utensils still inside. Other than that, it was a nice, quiet area close to Bear Valley ski resort and the town.

We went over Christmas and had a wonderful stay. The house was decorated with a place to hang our stockings. Plenty of room. Flat screen Tv's in every room, perfect for veging, and forced air heating. It's a block away from Bear Mountain.
Check in was fast and easy even on Christmas Day. Thanks Cool Cabins staff. Make sure you bring chains if there is snow. -

Perfect location, everything works. Only 2 complaints, which are easy to fix: First, the sloped driveway, while it doesn't look too steep in the picture, is actually almost impossible to drive out of when snowed, even with chains. This should either be mentioned in the property description or, preferably, the further end of the driveway entrance, which is nearly level, should be completely plowed for arrival and departure. This property allows 4 cars. However, if having the 2 additional cars in the driveway is really an obstacle to the necessary snow-plowing, this warning should be emphasized in the property description. One of the bitter attendants at Cool Cabins even told me that "if it begins to snow during your stay, you are responsible for plowing your cars out and we can't plow if there are any cars in the driveway." After explaining to a friendlier manager that we wouldn't be able to drive out because I "forgot" to bring a snow plow and the fact that there weren't any cars parked in the driveway, she agreed to have the driveway plowed. However, they plowed only the steeper immediate entrance, but not the near-level further entrance, which made our departure relatively challenging. The only other complaint I have is the lighting. The entire cabin, especially the rooms are very dark. We actually had to use flashlights. I don't think that installing adequate lighting throughout would drive them bankrupt. If it weren't for the ideal location, I would have given it half the stars.

We arrived early but were ok check-in early. This has wonderful view of distance Lake and golf cource. This have 2 parking on deck and space for 2 on driveway which exit thru next house's driveway. On snowy condition, it might be difficult to back-up to exit.

This is a very nice cabin with nice views. The problem with this cabin is that the driveway has a slope so when it snows, it hard to get the cars out if they don't have a chain. We were stuck in the cabin for hours trying to find someone to come to the cabin to install chains for us.
