The cabin was very nice and my family had a great time.
Having said that, the problem I have is with the clean up prior to our arrival. We checked in around 3pm and then went grocery shopping prior to going to the cabin. We arrived a little after 4 and the cleaning crew was still there. I told them not to rush and to continue cleaning and that we just wanted to put the cold food in the refridgerator. We waited outside and within 10 minutes the two people left. When we got back inside, we found that the kitchen wasn't fully cleaned. The floor was sticky as well as the counters. There was a large full trash bag in the rear yard and there was a small metal trash can on the porch that had diapers and other trash in it still.
I believe that if check in time is 3pm and you give me the keys at that time, the cabin should be fully cleaned prior to my arrival. I wish I would have called to office right then to complain, but we were eager to start our vacation and didn't want to drag it out.
Once we got past that, we liked the location close to the village. The layout of the cabin was good and had a great feel to it with all the wood and decorations. We would stay there again.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 04/22/2012

Check in was friendly, helpful and efficient. The home was so crowded with furniture we could barely walk around. The overall feel was old and musty. It was difficult to sleep with the traffic lights in your window. A water main broke during our one night stay and we woke to no water. We could not take a shower, flush the toilets or start the dishwasher. We hope to receive some compensation for our inconvenience. This home did not meet our expectations. A fun one night get away was a big disappointment.

This was a beautiful, comfortable home with a great view. We had such a great time staying here. We would highly recommend this place and would go back again ourselves!

We stayed here with a group of 6 friends. Check in was really easy. I filled out a check-in application on line before I got there and just picked up the key when I arrived in Big Bear. The place is gorgeous and modern. Stainless steel appliances, granite countertops. There were a lot of high end finishes. The house had enough room for everyone. Only problem we had with the house was that it was on a steep hill and it snowed heavily the weekend we stayed. Despite having chains and 4 wheel drive, it was still hairy trying to dig the cars out and drive them safely onto the main road. The snow plows do not adequately plow the street the house is on. Otherwise, we had a great stay and time skiing. Would stay here again when it wasn't snowing. :)

I felt the cabin was much smaller than expected, it was nice and clean, but for the amount of rental I expected much more.
The location was fine with sledding near by, and on the property for small children.
The most negitive this was the rediculus amout of rools written on your paperwork as well as the cabin hand book.
Way overkill! again, we had a great time, but the next time we will be more sure about the cabin we are renting. overall we had a great time.

The Private Home Rental Industry is many rules and regulations mandated by the City-trash disposal, number of cars, number of people and the serentity of a neighborhood. We also have to make sure the home is treated by each tenent with care and repsect. We do not own these homes.We try to make this as painless as possible but we must cover all these mandates. The staff at Big Bear Vacations are very nice and helpful. We ended up staying an additional night and they were great in accomodating us even though some things had to be moved around. The home was beautiful and a great location. We'll be back!
