Fabulous home. We had a blast! This house was clean, big, and had all wee needed, logs, hot tub heated and ready to go! Check in was seamless, rental agent very nice.
The drive way is on a slant so if it is snowing you will have to shovel yourself up and down the driveway if it is snowing. I would say to check with the rental company prior to your visit when it snows and get the name of a person with a snow blower to help you. My husband shoveled us in and out, as you will get fined or towed for parking on street. Had I been traveling alone, it would have been a problem.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 04/07/2012

The cabin was beautiful and very clean. The jacuzzi was broken so we received a voucher for another visit. The driveway was extremely steep and I almost crashed my car into a post in the driveway, even with chains. Next time I'll rent a different cabin.

Los Angeles, CANot as advertised
Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in December 2010
(Note: I am not the one who made the reservation. I was a guest of the reservation holder.)
We stayed at this cabin over the New Year holiday in December 2010. Problems began before we even got there.
We got a call four days before we were to go up that the spa was broken and could not be fixed until Feb 2011. Two months seems a bit long, but that's fine. So we asked for a partial refund. Big Bear Vacations said they would only refund $91 (up from the normal $60), or 4% of the holiday rental fee of $2070. Other cabins without spas were renting for roughly $1600 over the same weekend -- cabins we could have rented had we known there was no spa at aspen Glen.
Big Bear Vacations said they would be happy to cancel our reservation, but we told them that doesn't really help them or us this close to the rental date. If they can cancel the reservation, couldn't they give us more than $90 back? Apparently not. We took our $90 and decided to just go with a positive attitude.
But, when we got there, we found out that the internet wasn't working. We called Big Bear Vacations and they said they would call the property owners. Bbv said the owners were calling the internet company. By the time we checked out, the internet still wasn't working.
Additionally, BBV has a requirement to "take care of your dishes," which is fine but they didn't leave us any cleaning soap, dishwashing soap, or sponges.
You may want to double check to make sure all the advertised amenities are there to make sure you get what you're paying for. However, for this price, I would suggest finding another cabin -- and perhaps another rental company to rent from.
To not make this review completely sour, there are a few good things: nice living spaces, a nice backyard (with a non-working spa), and it's close to a hiking/sledding area. But in spite of that, I would still look elsewhere.

The home could be very nice. The rental service was disappointing, given the price we paid vs. all the lower priced alternatives. We had to shovel our way into the house the first night, and never got requested plow or shovel service during the 3 day stay. The snow shovel was broken , so we used a small ditching shovel. Oven had to be cleaned before use; mice were in closets. Personal belongings from prior rentals had not been removed. Good location, quiet lane. Rental people need to service according to the four star price!

With the largest snowstorm in 35 year Big Bear Vacations was set back in clearing parking spaces for all properties. Mice are common in the mountains. There are shovels at all properties for guests to clear snow from patio areas. If at any time the shovel breaks or cannot be found we will provide a new one.

This property is one of a kind. We have stayed here more than once. Everything's new, clean, very organized. It is a short walking distance to the lake and very close to the village and other entertainments. I will definitely rent Aspen Glen again.

Great property.. very nice fire place, very pretty neighborhood. Downside.. have to shovel your way up the driveway. jacuzzi is buried in snow and takes 24 hours to heat. make sure property is cleaned of snow before your arrival... otherwise, too much work for relaxing vaca or ski trip. good luck.
