My family had a wonderful time here! The cabin was very cozy and had everything we needed for the perfect winter weekend. Plenty of room to sleep for all and 2 full bathrooms made the trip very convenient for everyone. The jacuzzi worked great and we all enjoyed that. The location was central,to the town, the lake and right next to Bear Mountain. We also found a great sledding area right up the street. My family was very happy with this place and are so excited to come back in the summer. Read more

Whoever wrote the post about the beds not being comfortable was not really 100% accurate. it worried me, but all was ok. Only one of the beds sag. The other one was ok. There are also 2 others, didn't check those. Nevertheless the one mattress should probably be replaced.
The other concern I had was the lock on the front door is broken. Its hard to open and close and I felt like I was going to get locked out a few times. Locks are $15, it should be replaced asap.
Other than that, beautiful cabin. I may stay again.

This was a great cabin; super clean, with very cozy decor with a lot of thought put into it. The Jacuzzi worked perfectly, looked and smelled clean. The cabin was a lot bigger than I expected from seeing the pictures, it has the two bedrooms upstairs which each have two double beds in them, and the downstairs bit was big too. All in all, it was a great experience and I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone.

This place was very small, cute, and cozy. I had one major problem and it was lights. The house itself had very dim lighting especially the living room. The neighborhood is extremely dark and creepy at night as well, but I understand nothing can be done about that :) Everything works fine. Satellite TV and working internet was a plus!! heater made the air somewhat dry so be cautious. Wish there were more cooking utensils as well as bowls and stuff in the kitchen.
Overall, the distance to all the necessary places were nearby. no more than five or ten minutes. The place is lovely and cozy. Would stay here again, but the living room was too small for my taste :) Thanks again for another good experience in big bear!

Overall it was a great experience. The home was in great shape and pretty darned clean. It was close to both ski areas and the hot tub was clean and 102 when we needed to hop in. It was cozy, warm, and friendly.
Only two tiny draw backs .. Hot water seemed to go quick and we expected to have some firewood and since we missed small print we had to go to the store and get our own.
Great job overall, loved it and would use it again Read more
Glad to hear another trip well spent!! To address the hot water issue;
Unlike a hotel accommodations big Bear is famous for the use of private cabins and homes. There is nothing better than to pull up to your mountain getaway and park in the driveway and not worry about having tenants connected to you in any way. Like any home Bear Mountain Escape is equipped with a water heater. My suggestion is to time showers accordingly as we do at our own homes. ;)
Cozy cabin, uncomfortable beds
Left on 01/19/2011 for a stay in January 2011 | Amanda
I recommend that people check with BBV in advance to make sure all the amenities that are listed in the rental are actually available. The cabin I original rented listed a Jacuzzi that ended up being broken but fortunately another reviewer mentioned it so I found out in advance. When my husband and I called to inquire about it, BBV said they tried to contact us (this was a 2 days before our stay) but they got the wrong phone number. I looked at our original reservation and the phone number was correct so I think it was just BS and their cover for not contacting us. Anyhow, we did end up getting a higher star cabin, which was nice, but it was not in the original location we wanted. Also, we went from a King and Queen bed in the original reservation to the largest bed in this cabin being a full bed. This cabin was very cute, clean, and landscaped nicely. The living room and kitchen were great as far as the space. The kitchen had limited cooking supplies though - only 1 small frying pan, only 2 dish rags for the entire stay, no wine opener, etc. The bedrooms were decorated very nicely and had a warm feel to them. However, I recommend a larger bed for the master room instead of two full beds. My husband and I had to sleep separate. The beds were also very uncomfortable. I slept on the couch the last night due to the uncomfortable beds - I tried all beds as well. Read more
Thank you for the feedback on your stay. Our Bear Mountain Escape #878 is a great property and does extremely well accumulating major repeat clientele. We appologize for the confusion with your reservation, but are happy to hear that you were moved to a cabin that does have a fully functioning spa, such as Bear Mountain Escape. To address the issue with the limited kitchen supplies; the owners are very involved with this particular cabin. Visiting often and replenishing amenities as well as always doing necessary touch-up's when needed. Also wait until the Christmas holiday!!! This home is regularly decorated to the occasion. All in all, Bear Mountain Escape #878 is a very reliable and comfy getaway in the local Moonridge Forest area. Great location!!

This Cabin is better in person. The picture does not do justice. The location is fantastic, neighborhood is great, parking is for 2 cars, awesome backyard, fantastic Spa, great interior design and floor plan. The exterior is well kept and back yard is very "homely?. The check-in and check-out process at Big Bear Vacations is quick and easy, 2 minute wait time max. The cabin is clean and welcoming. Other than being tired after a long day on the mountain, it is a great place to relax and to be refreshed. Great choice; will not be disappointed!!!

We were looking for a cabin as a base of operations for a motorcycle weekend. We were offered this wonderful cabin. It is centrally located well decorated and meticulosly maintained. It woulld also be a perfect cabin for snow activities during the winter.
Check in staff was quick and pleasant as well. Would recommend to family and friends.

Don't worry about the fees!
Left on 03/17/2010 for a stay in March 2010 | BigBearVisitor
The place was great! While I was worried about all the additional fees that
could be incurred if you didn't follow the elaborate instructions, everything
worked out fine. The instructions are actually obvious things that you would
do but that you could easily over look if you were in a rush (e.g.,
locking/closing all windows); so it seemed reasonable that the site would
make sure guests completed them by charging a fee if overlooked.
The space was cozy and complete with all the kitchen, bedroom, and
bathroom amenities you would need. We were worried so brought stuff but the
cabin had everything from extra toilet paper and towels to a cookie sheet and
board games. Plus, the hot tub was FABULOUS and read/heated when we got
there!!!! Great ending to a day of snow boarding!!!
We plan on staying there next year.

This cabin has a super cozy atmosphere to it. Really clean and neat when we checked in. The only problems we had was that the upstairs shower was leaky, but we called it in and they fixed it. The shower door was also broken, but it went unfixed. The cabin was really comfortable and the location wasn't too far off from the main roads. Also, if you plan on playing fooseball, bring your own ball. The one they provide is made from styrofoam. Too bad there was no washer and dryer though.
A perfect place

Undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, vacation we have ever had. Quiet, peaceful, warm and comfortable. Everything we needed was available, and we truly were in a home away from home. I intend to make this an annual venture!!!!
A Very Good Experience

We had a wonderful time in this cabin. we have stayed elsewhere in Big Bear several times, and this was by far the most comfortable of them all. We needed two bathrooms as we had teen girls. The beds were very comfortable and the heat worked well. All sounds mundane until you come in wet and cold and the heat doesn't work. We found the cabin on the internet, but then called and reserved by phone, were given some add-ons for no extra cost, and it was at a better rate. Regardless of what cabin you choose for your vacation, I recommend calling to make the reservations.

This Place was more homie than we thought I was. And everyone had a great time.
The only thing was that When we called ask them if there's any snow and if we were able to skii, the operator said just come and take a look, and said that they are pretty sure we are able to skii, but we weren't. so they didn't tell us the whole truth! Because they wanted to keep their customers!
