Long Beach, California, United StatesFamily and Friends this cabin is for you. Beyond Perfect!!!
Left on 03/19/2013 for a stay in January 2013
I have stayed in this cabin 5 times. Each trip I make up to Big Bear it gets better and better. This cabin has so much to offer. Between the jacuzzi to the fuze ball table this cabin is for all ages. Located right on the lake with huge windows and spacious living room areas its such a comfortable atmosphere. It sleeps 8--10 comfortably and is in the perfect location. Near all the shops and restaurants to cruise around, but not even a 3 minute drive to the skiing resorts. I recommend this cabin and thank trip-advisor for helping me find this treasure.

We stayed here for my sister's birthday and this property is awesome. The view from this property is breathtaking! We were able to dock our boat, enjoy the hot tub and walk to the village. It is an older house with unique decor, but they have kept it really nice and cozy. Not to mention it is a 4 bedroom so we were able to fit our friends and family in here comfortably. It was such a great deal...I will definitely stay here again.

Left on 07/01/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Easy helpful booking. Check in was easy and friendly. House is in a perfect location to town. Right next door to big bear marina. Spacious and comfortable. A tad outdated but not a big deal. Very clean. Jacuzzi was great, especially being right next to the lake. Wish we had access to the garage, but it was not a big deal. Private dock was great with plenty of fish to catch if that is your thing. Probably caught 12 bass and two catfish. My wife is not necessarily a "lake person", but she is even asking when we can come back. I will definitely rent this property again!!! Great for families!!!

Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My family recently stayed in this wonderful home to celebrate my birthday. What a treat! This home is very spacious, warm and inviting. The view of the lake is spectacular, the jacuzzi on the water is amazing and the location was perfect for a walk to town or a nice little hike in the surrounding forest. We had such an enjoyable time that none of us wanted to leave on the last day. I will definitely be renting this home again and look forward to another Storybook memory.
Only one small suggestion...the Christmas decorations need to be put away. Although we all love Christmas, it seemed a bit strange to see decoration well after Easter =0)Response from Big Bear Vacations - 06/20/2012

Los AngelesGreat Views-Lots of Space-Some Limitations
Left on 11/27/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Awesome views of the lake! Tons of elbow room. Wonderful scenic-view family room. Huge kitchen (maybe a little too big, for efficient cooking). Very close (walkable) to downtown Big Bear and stores and amenities. Has its own boat dock, literally a few feet from the back door.
Limitations: In the winter, you should be careful booking for larger groups. There are only four bedrooms (the place is huge). Bunking-out in the family room, on the couches, could be a challenge because that room gets very cold (lots of windows)-so if you have more than 5 sleeper "units" (couples or individuals) you'd better bring sleeping bags or extra blankets.
Internet service is slow and unreliable! Family room fireplace draft is a challenge. We had to keep a door or window cracked to try to keep the smoke from backing-up into the room. Lots of stinging eyes when starting a fire. -

Fontana, CAA Fabulous Experience!
Left on 10/27/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We had recently lost 2 of our 5 golden retrievers within 13 days of each other, 9/27/11 and 10/10/11, and were grieving terribly. We needed to get away and heal and found the beautiful StoryBook Lakeview #664 home through BigBearVacations.com. I called at the last minute on Friday, 10/14/11, and spoke to Erica and she was the most caring, sweet person and arranged for our arrival for Monday, the 17th. We packed up our 3 fur babies and headed out and when we arrived for check in, Ashley greeted us and was awesome! She made it so easy and welcoming and we were in and out within 5 minutes. When we drove up to the house, we absolutely loved it! It was so much more than we ever expected. Beautiful, inside and out, and steps away from the lake. It even had a yard which was wonderful for our babies. We spent much of our time out on the beautiful deck which is steps away from the lake. So beautiful and peaceful, which is exactly what we were looking for and needed.
The house was open, clean, homey and the view was amazing. You couldn't look in any direction without a view of the lake. The beds were so comfortable. The fireplace in the living room was awesome and every bedroom had a fireplace except one. It had everything furnished we needed except the food. The house is exactly what it says - "A Storybook". When we travel, one of our main concerns is a "Pet Friendly" environment and this was more than we ever had experienced. I can't say enough about this property and would recommend it to anyone. We will most definitely be returning and just wish our next vacation was coming up alot sooner.
On check out, Mathew was a pleasure to deal with and had us out in less than 5 minutes. What a great staff you have and I will be recommending Big Bear Vacations to everyone I know!
Thank you for this great experience; it was so relaxing and just what my husband and I and our 3 Golden babies needed. The only negative I have is that our stay was much too short! :-) -

We loved this house and the convenient location to so many things. We fished from the back porch. We watched boaters from the sauna. We walked to town for dinner, bowling, jet boat ride, parasailing. It was so nice not to have to drive places - a real vacation. I wouldn't recommend the Pirate Ship Tour, it was very disappointing.

I think this was our 5th or 6th time we've stayed at the Storybook Lakefront and once again, we had an absolutely amazing time! The house is located in a nice quiet cove that doesn't get much wind at all. The view from the house are spectacular and the fishing is great right off the dock. The house itself does need a little TLC but not much. They addressed the ant problem. We did not see a single ant or bug of any type during our entire stay. If you want a wonderful relaxing vacation, this is the place to stay. I am in the travel industry and can go almost anywhere at a discounted rate but we keep going back to the Storybook Lakefront because we love it so much! We highly recommend this property!!!

We enjoyed this house very much...beautiful lakeside view, beautiful bedrooms , bathrooms, living room, and kitchen. Fabulous jacuzzi. We will definitely return here. The problematic issues were...Ants!!, oven smoked from past drippings even after I cleaned it, fireplace smoked into the living room.

Thank you for responding to our survey. This house has a monthly service for ants. The house is right on the lake and in a cul-de-sac. Building fires is Big Bear is a little different than when off the mountain. Smoke will come into the house if the chimney has not had time to warm up and create a draft. warming should be done with the cleanest fuel possible (duraflame log not wood-wood smokes). We hope you were able to enjoy your stay while in our winter wonderland.

Los AngelesGreat View...that's about it!
Left on 09/08/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Walking into this house was amazing...the big windows and the beautiful view! But things slowly started to go downhill from there. We had read a previous review that mentioned the ant problem...we saw the ant traps everywhere. It seemed to have worked. We tried to connect to the internet - followed instructions, then called, then waited, waited - finally into the second day - gave up! The dishes and utensils were not clean - they had to be rewashed. There were cobb webbs in the ceiling, sinks in all bathrooms didn't drain properly, cover for the hot tub looked like someone or something ripped it apart - looked awful. The bedroom balcony had a nest with a pile of bird droppings and a dead baby bird. Very unpleseant to see upon arrival. They should have a better manager to oversee the property and actually have them walk-thru the house and see what needs to be done and run water/check the drains before paying guests arrive. They definitely should have taken care of the bird issue. Clean the spider webbs off the patio furniture? Bbq should be replaced. For the money it should have been kept up, in better condition for guests to enjoy. I do have another issue but I would rather talk to the owner/manager directly. The check out lady was rude and unpleseant. It was my first time to 'check out' and didn't know if there were any final paperwork/procedures so I asked her what I needed to do, and she just plainly said 'drop off the keys' that's it. I wanted to let her know some problems with the house and had a list -but she was not interested! She took a copy of my notes and when I told her there was another dead bird on the deck - she says 'that happens'. ( I was telling her so they know where exactly where it was) She was not intrested. She gave me back the notes and then she started talking to a co-worker. I guess we were done. She never said another word. That kind of rudeness in addition to our problems with the house was the icing!
Response from Big Bear Vacations - 10/29/2010

Thank you for respond to our survey. We checked the internet and it is working properly. This house has DSL and sometimes the user's personal setting won't allow a connection. The dishes should have been clean upon your arrival. We will check the drainage in the sinks. Lake front properties with large windows soetime hav dead bird due to the windows being flown into. We are sorry you experienced this upon our arrival. The spa cover has been replaced. W need to be professional at check out. We hope you were able to enjoy Big Bear.

The house is nice and big with lots of room for a large family but it had a huge ant problem. We were told to basically suck it up and we bought 6 ant traps that slowed them down but never really got rid of the problem. They were in the kitchen and living room so you couldn't ignore the problem. Otherwise the yard was big and right on the beach, my dog loved swimming everyday! Not much to do in town in the off season but the locals are very nice!

Los AngelesNice location and size, but should be more for the money
Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in December 2008
This house was very well situated, right by town, and on the lake. It had a
beautiful view from the living room, with huge windows. The house was
spacious and furniture comfortable. For the amount we paid though, it should
have been way more stocked with basic kitchen gear. It had an odd assortment
of kitchen things, and they all seemed to be low-quality, old or cast-offs.
Couldn't find a knife that was sharp for instance, just older, dull ones. They
didn't have basic things like aluminum foil or salt. All other houses I've ever
rented, ones that have been way less per night (we paid $1700 for two nights),
have always come with nicely stocked kitchens. Like others have said, it is also
a bit outdated in the decor, though that's maybe also a question of personal
taste, and it didn't bother any of us. It's on a little culdesac, development area,
so it's not woodsy or cabiny, but it was clean and comfortable, and like I said,
it had a wonderful view. -

Big Bear Vacations did a fantastic job from start to finish. No problem checking in...fast and friendly. No problems with the house. No problem checking out.
The house is beautiful and the location could not be better. The views are amazing! The pictures do not do them justice. The house was plenty roomy enough for our two families. The lay out of the rooms was great. The house was clean, very clean for a rental. The kitchen was clean and well stocked and everything worked great. We acutally cooked Christmas dinner there with no problems.
We did smell the sewer lift mentioned in the other reviews but only when we were out playing in the snow in front of the house and it was not strong enough to bother us or make us go in. That is the only negative thing I could think of regarding this property and it was a very minor thing.
We loved it and had a great time!

This beautiful home offered a 180 degree view of the lake from the beautifully laid out living/family room and open kitchen. The decor is homey yet upscale. Plenty of room for our family of six. All three bedrooms offered a beautiful view of the lake and mountain back drop. The large jacuzzi on the deck made for some great evening relaxation. We even took a jacuzzi in a snow storm that blew through on our last two days. We really made a memory fishing from the private dock also! This was a great way to celebrate Thanksgiving and our 30th wedding anniversary. Thank you Big Bear Vacations for being so accomodating.

Their friendly and professional attitude made for a perfect vacation. The view is excellent and the location is close to everything. The home was comfortable, spa fun, and the lake a delight. Redlands, CABeautiful house and view with a couple recommendations
Left on 08/05/2009 for a stay in August 2009
Our family had a fantastic time at this property. The house was nicer than we expected, the kitchen was huge, the laundry room was nice, our kids loved the little storage room beneath the stairs with a mattress in it, the view was spectacular and the rooms were very nice. The decor is a bit outdated, but it fit with the style of the house nicely. One note to future guests traveling with escape artists (toddlers or young kids) like ours, there are 5 doors leading directly to the backyard/lake, not to mention the 2 leading to the front with no gates on the sides so there is a direct access to the lake with no fencing or other precautions to slow the kids down. 2 of the doors do not have locks from the inside (the handles turn and lock so outsiders can't come in, but insiders can go out) so you may want to consider bringing baby gates or just be prepared for that. Also several of the sliding doors and other windows do not close properly, so a little maintenance on those would be helpful. Future guests bring: trash bags, coffee filters, & dishwasher soap. We did have some minor ant issues in several rooms, but that's just nature. And for almost 2 hours on our 2nd night we could smell the sewer that someone else reviewed about, but luckily it went away. Oh and the neighbor kids right next door had a major party that lasted until at least 3am which was extremely obnoxious and loud, but again, not the fault of the rental company. Overall the property was very nice and the dock was very handy to use for fishing and the boat we rented. But there are some areas that the owners should do some maintenance on: shower heads, windows, cracks in the walls, finishing the flooring in the master bathroom, etc. The beds, pillows, new carpet, and other furniture were great.

This home was gorgeous and perfectly set upon the lake-it seemed the ideal place for a family hang out-a grassy green for volleyball and frisbee, lovely view of the lake, quiet neighborhood. However, it was one house away from a sewer lift-and all evening and half the day it smelled like raw sewage. at night we had to close up the house to keep to stench out and were unable to sit on the deck if we wanted to breathe clean air. I would not recommend this place until the city fixes the problem-then I will re-rent it in a heartbeat! other minor issues: hot tub takes forever to heat-but nice to jump into right off the lake.

Thank you for your response to Storybook Lakefront Unit 664. There is a City sewer lift station in the area. This normally doesn't create a problem. We are sorry the lift station presented a problem during your stay. We sometimes need to change the water in a spa (when chemical measuremnts tell us to change the water)and it does take up to 8 hours to warm-up. We are sorry the spa wasn't warm at the time of your arrival. Again, thank you for your response to our survey. This will help us give our furture guests a better quality stay.

I really enjoyed being on the lake and having the hot tub overlooking the water. With that said there we some pretty big things that would make me not rent the home again:
-very old furniture. The bed in the "master" bedroom broke while we were sleeping the first night
-3rd bedroom bed size is only meant for a child under 10
-tv/stereo/etc are very outdated
not worth the priceResponse from Big Bear Vacations - 07/22/2008

Thank you for your review on Storybook. We have changed the description to better fit the size of the bedrooms. Some of the furniture in house has recently been upgraded. We will contact the owner about further upgrades. We want our homes to be of the quality expected by any guest.

good view, but house was terribly cold!
Left on 07/09/2008 for a stay in January 2008
We rented the house for two nights in winter and for most of time we stayed there, the house was freezing, especially in the bedrooms! The heater was so inefficient that it took 2 days (just before we left) to heat the house to livable temperature. The decor was dated and dark, carpet was dirty. We couldn't believe that this house was rated 5 star.
The view was great so it would be better for summer rental.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 02/02/2009

Thank you for your review on Storybook Lakefront. The heat issue has been resolved since your stay. The ducting has been completely replaced. This is a four star home with numerous new furnishings and appliances. In December '08 the owner placed new furniture in 2 bedrooms. The carpet has been cleaned, as we do spring cleaning on all of our homes.
