Whittier, Ca.A great family get away
Left on 08/14/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We started at the Big Bear Vacation Office. This young lady was new but the check-in went well and within a few minutes we were on our way to the cabin, along with our free tote bag courtesy of Big Bear Vacations with a few goodies inside that was very nice.
The cabin was just a few blocks from the office within these tall pine trees it was a nice little drive.
The cabin was clean and furnished as stated it has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and a great fireplace pit, and a full kitchen. It seems that most reviewers commented on the t.v/ stereos but a new t.v upstairs in Master bedroom but other t.v.was fine in living room and another t.v. was in another bedroom and worked we used all of them with no problem but we had a great time just being there with our family thats what mattered most to us so over all we had a great time and will for sure come back to this cabin again summit paradise #845 -

San DiegoBig place, with a small kitchen
Left on 03/10/2011 for a stay in February 2011
The Cabin's location is pretty good once you learn the trick is to cut through the neighborhood, you are pretty much in the parking lot of Snow Summit, and buying your ticket in no time. The Kitchen was very small considering it was a place for 10 people. When you are in this setting with your loved ones, the kitchen is where you gather as a group, and 10 people in that kitchen is not possible to very very tight quarters.
Big Bear Vacations has always been pretty good, but this time, and I think it was because it was late check in, they forgot to put my key in my bag. So I had to wait while someone gathered it for me. It was a fluke thing as I was the only one, so I'm not going to sell them up the river for it, but it was annoying. Another thing I hate about staying in Big Bear is having to take the trash all the way across town to throw it out. This applies to all cabins, so it doesnt reflect on this one directly, but the rule is lame. Lastly are the fees and taxes to stay in Big Bear or through Big Bear vacations. it was pretty much 100 bucks more just in fees and taxes...lame.
I did enjoy my stay and the Cabin suited our needs, was close to the resort as promised, but with all the other issues I give it an average rating. It did not blow my mind, but it did what it was suppose to do. -

Van NuysPerfect for the Weekend
Left on 03/09/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We stayed Friday and Saturday night; checked out at 11am on Sunday. Checking in was easy and the personnel was great. The place was exactly what we expected based on the pictures provided by the website. Kitchen is a bit small if your group is 8 to 10 people. The rest of the place was just the right size. The small bbq did a perfect job and there was plenty of snow for the kids to play on the side patio. Plenty of room to park 4 parks which is what the sign says you can park. The cabin is at walking distance from Snow Summit which makes it very convenient, don't have to worry about paying for parking and the walk in between is nice.
Perfect place to go with kids and friends. -

San DiegoA Vacation Rental In the Worst Vacation Place I've Been
Left on 02/23/2011 for a stay in February 2011
You made an online reservation to make it smooth yet you have to stay longer on the checkin because you have to do the checkin on the computer youself! What?
The refrigerator on the vacation rental was not working and you cannot call for service because the house telephone is busted. So you have to drive to the checkin office to inform the people there about your problem - in the first 5 minutes of your stay.
Some lights were not working and they finally made the illumination after the refrigerator - no the switch, as the outlet where the refrigerator was plugged was not working because I plugged various gadgets there - was turned on.
The second floor shower drain is clogged.
And one of the worst part is you have to throw your trash yourself to a trash site! And you were paying for your stay!
Wonder how those Big Bear hotels threat their guests - trash to go as well!
And your stay was taxed by the City which does not have a public park for you to enjoy your stay as every guest literatures you can lay your hands on have information on pay only sites - Snow Summit, Bear Mountain, etc. but none on public park which you desrved because you were taxed.
An over-rated rental house - in terms of how much it charges - in an over-rated place! -

LAA good start
Left on 12/30/2010 for a stay in December 2010
This was my first time planning a trip for a group so i definitely had to do some some research with different cabin companies. I'm glad I made this choice because this house was great and so close to summit, which was the reason for our stay. Don't be fooled by the size when you get to the drive way, I thought it would be a lot smaller than it was but it was more than enough space for 8. It was fully stocked like they said, even more than enough towels for us. I think the only thing that bothered me was the pans. We used one that looked like a non stick because we didnt bring any olive oil for pancakes and things. Some of the pans looked torn and black pieces got on our food. It did get very warm in the first two bedrooms but the master bed room was cold. I read reviews saying the systems were outdated but when i got there the master bedroom had a nice t.v. Actually majority of the rooms have a tv and they all work so I don't know whats up. I suggest just bring a stereo and some music. oh i forgot to mention,Im not sure but i have mixed feelings about the service for check in. I did have a little trouble with checking in. I called a couple times before we got there just to make sure we were set to get the house and they said they didnt have the papers and things under my name to check in and the lady told me to call back in the morning. I was like what?? Then I called back and another lady answered and said she had everything set for us. I just have to say that some people were very very informative and helpful even before I reserved a place but some other people were sort of, I dont want to be mean but, very rude and sounded like they wanted me to get off the phone asap! I was afraid to ask anymore questions ha. Buuut you know the house was fantastic. I hope this helps. Oh! and you have to be 21 or older to reserve a place or at least need someone who is over 21 with your group. I didn't know that. they were gracious enough to let us stay. so thank you.

Burbank, CAShort-planned Big Bear Weekend
Left on 09/09/2010 for a stay in September 2010
Overall, I would say that our stay was okay. The cabin had almost had what we needed for a two-night stay. It had plenty of space for a group of 10. First comment though was that it got a little warm in the cabin during sleep time : no a/c. Having electric fans in each room would have been better.
The master bedroom was big. The teenagers enjoyed it the most because of the foosball and t.v. that they were able to use to hook up their Xbox. However, I did smell gas coming from the furnace. I had to cover it with pillows at night so I won't smell it.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 10/27/2010

Los Angeles, CAnot with babies
Left on 01/28/2010 for a stay in January 2010
The cabin was chill, the set up is weird and make for a little of uncomfortable
hang when there is more that 5 people, There is a huge room, upstairs but its
a drag that so much space is lost on it, it makes for a great honey moon hang
but you are away from everybody, it might be nice for a small family. The
cabin is definitely not baby or toddler friendly, has stair and a weird fire place
pit. I will used big bear vacation again the services is good, but will research
my cabin a bit more.
All and all it was a great week end!

San Diego, CAPERFECT FOR A BIG FUN GROUP
Left on 01/22/2009 for a stay in January 2009
This was a cozy place for a big group of young adults like ourselves. We had exactly 11 people - 3 couples and 5 singles - perfect for the sleeping arrangements. And it is definitely possible for everyone to have their own bed since there are couches, fold out beds in the closets and and plenty of carpeted ground. When you first step in, you do see you're in a real cabin with that "woodsy" feeling. The living room is nice and welcoming for socializing and playing card and board games, etc. However the electronics are outdated and we barely got the TV to work. You can call the office for some assistance, which we did, and the tech guy came right away! Don't expect them to fix things though. It's a lost cause. So bring your own radio/CD player and whatever entertainment media you need because this place lacks in that. The kitchen is fully equipped like it states in the description, but you must bring your own oil to cook food with and your own rice cooker if you like rice like us. Bathrooms/showers are good and there are enough towels to go around, but make sure you give the water time to warm up in the morning before you step into a freezing cold shower. The best part of this place is that it is literally a 5 minute walk from Snow Summit, and so we were able to rent out snowboards and go play all day without worrying about a vehicle. And if you did want a ride, it's such an easy and convenient drive. If you're looking for a place that'll accomodate a big and energetic group of people who would like a good night's rest after a long day of fun, this is the right place. I did extensive research on a place before I reserved and this hit the spot. If you're tired looking like I was, RESERVE NOW!

Los AngelesA Nice Weekend
Left on 09/15/2008 for a stay in August 2008
The place was clean and nicely furnished. There was a problem
with my original rental property, so they volunteered an
upgrade at no extra cost. I was allowed to check in early at no
extra cost, and check in was fast and easy. My only complaint is
it could have had a nicer TV/Stereo.
I would stay here again.
Walking distance to Summit.
