My girlfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights on our birthday weekend and it was amazing. It was perfect size for both of us. They have necessary pots/pans/silverware/appliances. We used most of our own stuff but everything you need is there. The place was very clean and cozy. It snowed and it was beautiful. We had a great time and will definitely come back again. Nothing bad about the location, we went into town the first night and it was only about 2 miles away. I have nothing negative to say about this place. And the owners were extremely nice and helpful. If I had to name something bad, it'd be that the WiFi was running slow when we tried to watch Netflix, which is hardly a problem. The fact that there was a nice TV and internet is plenty. Overall, it's very nice and I'd absolutely recommend this place if you are having trouble deciding.

I arrived early, they let me check in two hrs early. The studio was clean, the kitchen had all dish ware necessary to cook which was very convenient. The restroom had a hair dryer. The television also had a DVD player. The ppl that check you in are super friendly, & they set up a Bon fire at night for the guests. I liked that the location was only a few miles away from Starbucks, stater bros, big Kmart, dollar tree, the village, the bowling barn, laser tag, and the lake. So many things to do. It was definitely worth the price we paid.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our stay at Oak Knoll 14. It was very clean and cozy. Small deck outside overlooking other cabins and woods. The pool is a very nice size and grounds are very well maintained. You are away from all traffic and noise. It is very quiet. Very relaxing time. Didn't want to leave. We have already planned to bring our whole family out in October. Highly recommend Oak Knoll Lodge.
I stayed here for just one night, but it was a great experience and I would have gladly stayed longer had I had more time. The cabin is located a bit further from the lake than most other places you'll find, but it's not inconvenient at all if you do want to visit the lake. It's right next to a large forest with plenty of trails and a picnic area, and isolated enough that you can really enjoy the peace and tranquility of nature without feeling like you're in a tourist trap. I received friendly advice on hiking and breakfast options from Chuck, and was very satisfied with the provided amenities. The only caveat I have is that I received no reception on my phone, and the internet was turned off from around 10 pm to 10 am. But I wasn't expecting free internet and I didn't have urgent need for phone reception for one night. Just something to keep in mind if you're staying longer and want to stay in touch with the outside world. Overall, I can't imagine finding a better place to stay for the price if you're looking for something quiet and still convenient.

First off, this isn't a common review: I didn't stay at the cabin myself. I rented the cabin out for my parent's so they could celebrate their 38th wedding anniversary. I chose this cabin based on the fact that its close enough to Big Bear Village for my parents to go to town whenever they wanted or needed, but it's far enough to enjoy nature. They loved the hospitality of the owners and the cleanliness of the place. They said that everything that they could need for a comfortable vacation was at their fingertips and they loved it. Overall, they recommended it to me, so there you have it.

My boyfriend and I had an amazing time in there. It was nice to see all the different colors in fall. The weather was perfect when we went there like october. And this cabin made our time more romantic, because it is perfect for 2 and good place to stay away from a crowded place. Since my boyfriend came from London, we needed some quality time to spend, and i am glad we did. The people were nice! I reccommend this cool cabin if anyone needs to spend some quality time only with boyfriend or girlfriend. The price was reasonable!

The cabin was very nice and as you would picture a cabin to be plus everyday amenities. My wife and I enjoyed the quiet on the porch and watched the fire most of the weekend. The cabins are set back just far enough you don't hear much noise of the town. I would, as mentioned in another review, bring a mattress topper if you can, as the mattress is a bit firm. Other than that, we loved our stay and can't wait to come back. The owners are also very nice folk to talk to.

The owners of the cabin were great. The location was perfect. The room was ok. I expected all would be supplied and it was not. My fault for not asking a head of time. Salad serving bowls but not a bowl for a salad or for pasta. Minimum everything. a few spoons, and so on. The light was poor to read but it is a cabin and I suppose the idea was simple essentials... I got those and a fabulous view -- so I am okay with it all except just for me the bed was not comfortable an I could not sleep for the pain of it. I am slim and it was so hard it made my body hurt so I could not have a good time. I have to tell the truth as I left a day early. Read more
Thank you for leaving this excellent review. I spoke to one of the managers on site for Oak Knoll, she is actually an employee of Big Bear Cool Cabins as well. She assured me that she is going to fix these issues. She is going to stock the kitchen and fix the lighting. As far as the beds I will suggest maybe purchasing a pillow top padding, I am sorry that you had to cut your trip short but if you are ever interested in visiting Big Bear again then please give us a call and we will be more then happy to find you more suitable accommodations.
Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Me and my girlfriend stayed 2 nights for Valentine's. It was very nice and clean. We had no problems at all with the cabin except for maybe the low water pressure in the shower, but i'm sure that is to be expected given the location. I would recommend staying here. It's a nice little cabin for a romantic getaway and you can't beat the price.

We really enjoyed our stay at this vintage resort. At a price comparable to what we would have paid for a motel room, we were able to stay within the National Forest bounderes in a duplex cabin complete with a complete kitchen including all the pots and pans, tableware and cutlery we needed. It was so quiet there that we dicn't know we had any neighbors. The cabins are located within a 5 minute drive to the Village so it is a very convenient location. We will definately stay here again!!

We just celebrated our 6th anniversary in November 2011 at Oak Knoll. Omg It was wonderful!!. The place was so nice and clean and in working condition. It was so cozy we loved it. The Staff was so so sweet. I checked out the comments for this cabin and they were good reviews and I can honestly say I agree it is well worth the money and we will be coming back with our family.

The proprietors of the lodge were very friendly and helpful. I had a short conversation with one of them about the camera collection they had displayed. We checked in and were in our cabin in a matter of minutes. The cabin was cozy and very clean, just as it was described on the site.
One night we were asked to have our company leave because they had been in our cabin past the allotted 2 hours for visitors. I asked for if they could stick around for a little while longer as we had just finished cooking and were about to eat dinner, the proprietors were very understanding and gave us the ok. We even took them a pot of gumbo and a container of cookies as a thank you.
Overall, the stay was fantastic! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends.
