It's kind of weird to check in at two different places but at least it wasn't hard.

      Cozy cabin perfect for two

Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Traveled to Big Bear in early January and wanted a cozy private cabin for two. This was ideal. Full bathroom with shower/tub and toilet. Kitchen has appliances that will get you by fine. Large flat screen TV on a stand that rotates so you can watch TV/movies in the kitchen, bed, couch, or large living room tub. The bath/hot tub in the living room is huge and probably the best part of this particular cabin. Lots of space all around the cabin to build snowmen or slide down hills or have snowball fights. Bed was comfy, everything was clean and tidy upon arrival. It was everything we hoped for and the price was right. Would stay here again.

Perfect getaway in a perfect little cabin!

Left on 12/26/2012 for a stay in December 2012

This is a studio but it is nicely divided so that you can still have privacy if you need it. Also, the kitchen is well equipped with anything you might need: bowls, pans, skillets, utensils, dishes, etc. It also has oven mitts in case you decide to use the oven (we did!) The bathroom also comes with shampoos, conditioners, soaps, towels, and even make-up remover towelettes which was great! They also have a stationary heater/cooler in addition to a gas furnace/fireplace. The bed is comfortable and so were the pillows. I also enjoyed the hot tub! But crack open a window while soaking down in it, otherwise the room will turn into a sauna. lol I don't have any complaints. Also, the upgraded to a big screen TV. One tiny downside to this is low wi-fi connection (high enough to browse the web though). But who cares when you are at a place like this!! I only say this because my boyfriend brought his video games and there was a bit of a lag but he still played it. lol During winter don't leave electronics in the car or liquids. They will freeze.

      Great stay!

We came to this cabin for our honeymoon and it was amazing! The cabin was so cute. It's small but perfect for an intimate vacation. The only thing I wish was different was the kitchen. It was pretty well supplied except for a few things like measuring cups, but it was super small. Not the end of the world though :) the property manager was very nice and helpful. All in all we had a great experience and we would definitely stay here again!

We are so happy to hear that you spent your Honeymoon in Beautiful Big Bear Lake! We do love our Oak Knolls very much. The kitchen is a bit on the petite side but it’s a small price to pay for the awesome environment & location. I’ll make sure we get a few more items for the kitchen though, measuring cups are essential. We hope you come see us very soon!

      Thank you,
The Big Bear Cool Cabins Team

      No Sleep

Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in November 2012

I rented the cabin for just one night (only night I could get away) and I was really looking forward to spending the night in a cabin away from the lights and noises of th city. I asked if I needed to provide my own firewood since they told me yes, I bought three bundles and drive from San Diego. When I got to the cabin, I discovers the fireplace didnt burn wood at all, it was a gas only setup. I accepted that let down and went on with my night. My fiend and I went out for dinner and when we returned to the cabin it was freezing. We turned the thermostat up and discovers it controlled the gas fireplace. This was the only source of heat. As we went to bed we noticed the crazy bright exterior lights of the property that kept our cabin looking like mid afternoon. If the light wasn't enough, the fireplace would randomly turn on with its blower to wake us up. Of course when the fireplace got quiet, we were also woken up by the refrigerator fan kicking on...
Long story short, we didn't get a single hour of sleep the entire night and the next day we were too tired to enjoy big Bear, so we drove home trying our best to stay awake on the road.

      Manager

      Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking your time to write this review. I apologize for the issues you had. It is true that you have to purchase your own firewood, but if you fail to mention which cabin then we can’t inform you that the fireplace is gas. Next, Oak Knoll has their very own on site management, so if there are ever any issues in regards to heating, plumbing, water... whatever it is, they will be more than happy to assist you.

      Thank you,
      The Big Bear Cool Cabins

      Nice little cabin!

Left on 08/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012

The Oak Knoll Cabins are some of the oldest in Big Bear so it is pretty neat to stay there. The cabins are updated and super clean and the campground is very quiet! There is a heated swimming pool close by as well. You are basically minutes away from everything, the Village, Boulder Bay and the ski hills. We stayed two days, nice little break from civilization.

This cabin was perfect for us to get away and have a romantic weekend. Oak Knoll Lodge personnel were friendly, prompt, and welcoming . The cabin was beautiful inside, especially loved the hot tub. It was easy to find and not far from all the action in and around Big Bear. I definitely recommend Oak Knoll Lodge to anyone looking for a mountain getaway

This Studio cabin was just what we wanted!

The jet tub in the unit is very clean and easy to use. The fan abovd it is a nice touch! The kitchen had everything in it we needed, and was more than adaquate for our needs. The fridge was plenty big! The bathroom was clean and roomy! the bed, set off away from the main area, was very comfy and clean. There is plenty of space to move around in this cabin!

The grounds were a touch rustic--but well maintanined. It's in a wooded area away from the crowd and has many trails connecting to it.

One more very important thing. The ownere, chuck & Christina, were very hospitable and worked hard every day to keep the whole complex in top shape--including the pool!

Cool Cabins needs to give these folks all the advertising and support it can--and more than other locations they rent out!

I really enjoyed this experience. The cabin was clean, beautifully decorated and had nice amenities. Perfect for a stay of at least a week. The booking process was simple and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this cabin in particular, is not that close to the others in the property, providing an environment of privacy and quietness. Both my partner and I felt at ease with each other in this cute little cabin. The jacuzzi is a wonderful thing this vacation home has, very convenient since it's indoors. It also has a great view of the stars at night, if you enjoy counting stars, then that's the place for you! ;)
