We had a really nice time, very comfy, love big bear, although the town is dead zone at dark time. We had a nice time tho.
It could have been a little cleaner and more modern and updated, but very nice time!

My 70TH birthday vacation

I spent 2 weeks in the Brown Bear Inn vacation home and overall it was very relaxing, but there was some draw backs. First, I killed 7 spiders of different breeds in the 2 weeks I was there. That bothered me at night when I was trying to sleep. The couch was very small for my plans of just relaxing on some days. The kitchen was sparsly stocked with cooking pans. The deck was nice as long as I used my weed blower every other day to clean all of the pine needles off of it. The hot and cold water handles in the bath tub needed new rubber seals, because you could not shut off the cold water from dripping. The neighborhood is very quite and that is nice. Overall, I would give the Brown Bear Inn a 6.5 out of 10, but I don't think I would rent it again.
A cute, quaint, cozy, charming little cabin at a very decent pri

This was our first time using Big Bear Cool Cabins, so it was our first time staying at Brown Bear Inn. The registration and check-in process was pretty painless, except we got to Big Bear after 9pm on Friday night, so we had to check in at the alarm company down the street and pay $10 cash for that privilege. The cabin was clean and stocked with basic dishes and motel-quality towels. We brought our own towels and bedding (including memory foam topper) so we found the bed comfortable where others might feel it was too firm. If you're willing to pack a memory foam topper you'll sleep more comfortably. There were games to play and movies to watch on a decent tv, but we were too busy going to the car show in Big Bear to use any of it. Although the color outside is a little garish, you can't say it's difficult to spot! Not too far from the Village or downtown, restaurants, etc. Fyi, the GFI outlet in the bathroom sometimes trips and then you don't have a vanity light over the mirror...just hit the reset button on the outlet and you're good to go. Wifi is available and onsite, although the instruction sheet was a little cryptic as to what the code was (hint: it looks like the phone number for the cabin). What we loved the most about Brown Bear Inn was the deck. It was so nice sitting on the comfortable deck chairs they have, and the view and the weather was very nice. We will definitely stay at this same exact cabin again, not just because of the price, but because it's actually really nice!

The check-in was a breeze! And so as check-out! We were given a paper with instructions how to get to the cabin and the number to the lock box..and the number to call for check-out.
The cabin was fully furnished, just like home away from home.. I'd like to commend the heater at the deck.. it was a good touch... having tea late evening, just chillin' at the deck.. priceless! There was a bbq grill too! Kitchen- pots, pans, utensils, plates, kitchenwares, glasses, cups.. they have it! Bathroom-no complains.. Bedroom- charming! .. Living room- has TV, sofa , vhs, books, boardgames, Not that we had time to play them, since there's just so much to do outside! Peaceful location and yet near to the action!
I'd stay in this property longer especially if the price would be much lesser.. this time it wasn't much of an issue since it was a bday get-away. Nice stay over-all! Thank you!
Quaint cabin with flaws

First, this is a great peaceful location with lovely surroundings! It has a great comfy porch with a grill and very relaxing chairs. However, we had major plumbing problems with the kitchen. And we also had some issues with the TV. All in all, not a bad place to stay, but definitely not perfect. Read more

I have already made a review from the cool cabins site. the cabin was very clean and nicely decorated and the necessary things for cooking were there. However... the loveseat was awful as it was way too soft and too low when you sat in it. the bed was hard like the floor. I had sore spots from it. the only other seat is the table chairs which are too stiff and too heavy to really move.

This was a great stay at big bear. I took my girlfriend up for her birthday and decided a nice comfy cabin was the was to go. That is just what we got. Checking in was quick and easy. We received a paper with basic instructions as Well as the code for the WiFi. We had a great stay and checking out was as easy as a phone call.

Rented the cabin to surprise my wife for her birthday. Young lady at the counter sounded like she had bronchitis. She checked us in fairly promptly and gave us the code for the key box. Wrong code and no cell service at the cabin, so drove back down to the boulevard to recontact the office. The lady I talked to started out telling me I was doing it wrong, but finally agreed to send out someone, he arrived pretty promptly and said "oh yeah they changed the code", so with the correct code we were able to get inside. The front door is a metal clad wood door that is delaminating at the top, so you cannot get the door closed from the outside. We ended up using the kitchen door for access, after we could resecure the front door from the inside. Once we got inside, the cabin was fine. It appears that the cabin had been refloored and no one in Big Bear owns a level, there is about a 2" lip at the edge of the edge of the entry way, and the floor slopes in different directions. The furnace worked great and all in all it was a quaint and cozy cabin in the mountains. We had a great time and outside of these few maintenance issues our stay was great.

The towels were used and stained with grease, there was dust everywhere and don't let me start with the filthy kitchen/bathroom! We had to buy our own towels and management said they would pay us back lol still haven't received a dime. This place was a joke we will never book with cool cabins again!!! Read more
Upon receipt of your review we did look up all records for this reservation. Per our records on the day of check in housekeeping was sent to the property and offered cleaning services along with fresh linens, and towels. Our records indicate that you declined housekeeping which left us at a disadvantage. We apologize for these issues and wanted you to know that your credit card was recently issued a refund for the price of the towels you purchased. We hope you are willing to give us another chance in the future.

had a great quiet getaway at brown bear inn. There was no cell phone reception which is exactly what we needed. Cabin was clean, although there was defiantly a bug problem..although I guess that's typical for a cabin in the woods. Recommended.

My girlfriend and i had a great time at the brown bear inn. Great price and good location. We brought our mountain bikes with us so everything was a 10 min ride or less away. Even tho it is not lake front it gave us the "real cabin feel" being kinda on the edge of the forest, plus a cool hiking trail was across the street. if you go straight up the mountain (off the trail) you can watch the sunset over the lake. Im coming back, and i have already spread the word about this place. Thank you again!

It was a very cute and cozy cabin! The cabin is perfect size for two
people, my boyfriend and I stayed for one night and it was
awesome! We enjoyed the cabin and fireplace! The only thing would be if the
owners allowed the wifi to be used! And the front door is sticking, but nothing too major! We can't wait to come back again and hopefully stay longer! Big Bear Cool Cabins were very friendly and accommodating and we look forward to booking through them again!

Our stay at the Brown Bear Inn was very enjoyable. The biggest reason why we chose this cabin was the price. It was the cheapest on the cool cabins website. So, we expected simplicity. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The cabin was simple but very cute and most of all clean. It is located at the edge of a forrest. There are little hiking paths leading into the wild just outside the door.We especially enjoyed using the BBQ and having breakfast and dinner on the little deck outside.
Here are a few points that might need some improvement but didn't necessarily spoil our stay: 1.The bed is old and not very comfortable. The owners should invest in a new matress. 2. There was no cell phone reception at the cabin, so we had to drive closer to town to use our smart phones in order to research the next days activities online. The cabin has wireless internet but it is not available to guests, only to the owners. 3. Bring your own towels! They have towels there but they are the flimsy, cheap kind you get in cheap motels. 4. The kitchen could have been stocked with some basic staples like oil, sugar etc... All they had was salt and pepper.
Again, these points didn't spoil our trip. I'm just metnioning these for the picky readers. :-) We had a wonderful time there and can recommend this cabin to any young couple (even with baby like us) that plans a vacation on a budget. Read more
