This is the 3rd year I've taken my son and daughter with their families to Big Bear and the first time I've booked with Cool Cabins as we were unable to book the cabin we have previous used due to renovations. I found the service with Cool Cabins to be good, and I liked how the cabin was set up for us, such as dock canopy, plenty of towels, and soaps.I rented this particular cabin because of space.I was amazed at the size, beauty and comfort level of this cabin.I love to cook for my family so the available seating in the dining area was perfect. The kitchen was fantastic, fully stocked with plenty of cookware and awesome appliances. We spent most of our time on the water boating and rafting, fishing and some golf. The weather was great, I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to rent this cabin.

Disappointed ~ 2nd Stay

We rented this house shortly after it was completed for Labor Day Weekend 2011 (6nights). One of the most expensive weekends to rent a home in Big Bear. We host a gathering of executives every year, no one under 30, at this home to relax and enjoy great food. We forgave that the great room doors that open to the deck outside couldn't be opened and the lack of kitchen equipment to simply cook with including hot pads was not available and the beach/waterfront access a bit rank. The home provided very comfortable and private bedrooms, a wonderful kitchen for our chefs, fabulous fireplace in the great room, amazing views, large deck, super sized jacuzzi, surround sound system and internet access, all the important things for our guests. We returned to this house again for Labor Day Weekend (6nights again) 2012. The great room doors were still not accessible and pad locked closed, beach/waterfront still rank. And to an even greater disappointment the fireplace was not working and they were not going to send anyone out to repair it for our use for the entire stay. Additionally, the surround sound system was also no longer available. So on our first day of stay, a cold rainy day, we had no fireplace in the great room and no music in this cavernous space. The lack of consideration reflected by Cool Cabins and the property owner for key elements that make this house great was very disappointing, especially for the cost of such a stay. We were all very disappointed. Read more
I am the owner of Quiet Bay Landing and I would like to address Tricia’s review of our home. We worked extremely hard – blood, sweat and tears – to build what we think is an unbelievable mountain getaway. Before we built it, we knew we wanted to rent it out. We knew that we wanted to provide our guests with an incredible mountain experience and a premier vacation getaway. It astonishes us to read a review like the one Tricia wrote. If you look at the pictures and read the description of our property, you will start to get a feel for our home. But people who have been in our home say that the pictures and description don’t do it justice. The years of planning, all of our savings and the hard work of the best contractors we could put together, resulted in a log home masterpiece that is more beautiful than we even imagined in our minds. It is a 5,000 square foot full log home with extra large diameter logs that are scribed by hand to maintain the beauty and show the character of the wood. It is a masterpiece. Every room has a view of the lake. The location is a 10 out of 10. It is furnished by a professional decorator. There is not a better location on Big Bear Lake. There is not a nicer home on the lake. It has the largest dock with a custom canopy, a huge beautiful deck overlooking the water with a gorgeous hot tub, the stone work is magnificent, done with 6 different stones – real rock. A large theatre room/game room/bar, two entertainment centers with huge flat screen TV’s. So you can understand when Tracy writes that she is disappointed that she did not have a hot pad in a custom kitchen that has all brand new Viking appliances it bothers me and makes me question one’s perception, judgment and character…. I wonder why she did not call Cool Cabins and request a hot pad? She complained about not having a fire during the hottest month of the year – August. The fireplace would not start because we had a very expensive complex igniting system installed so renters could light the fire by remote. Because of her criticism I have taken this system out and now the fireplace in the Great Room can be simply lit manually by turning on the gas and using a hand-held lighter – fool proof. The WIFI went down during her stay – not in our control. But I have now installed a premium WIFI system that works off the cable lines instead of the phone lines so it will rarely go down. In addition, I installed a premium commercial grade modem that has an extra strong signal. When I tested it, it went all the way to the dock. Regarding the walk to the dock; I am waiting for 4 governmental agencies for an approval to build a seawall. Once the seawall is constructed, the backyard will be beautifully landscaped…… and, Tricia, the rental rate will increase. Until then, renters must walk about 30 feet on dirt to get to the dock. If this is a chore, you should look to another cabin, but you won’t find a nicer home in a nicer location, closer to the water for the money. The Great Room window doors will remain locked. There are three other doors that lead out to the same deck. One of the doors is only about 10 feet from the locked doors. The two locked doors have a complex locking system that renters cannot seem to figure out – so they have left our home unlocked. These doors are part of two huge windows and could have easily been built, and probably should have been built, as solid windows. There is no need to open these doors – it is unfathomable why Tricia would complain about walking a few feet to go through another door to the deck. Cool Cabins and I agree that these doors should, and will, remain locked. There are two sound systems; one in the Great Room and the other in the Theatre Room. Both are operable and sound fantastic and were so for Tricia. The outside speakers cannot be used by renters to prevent disturbing neighbors - this is a City Code Violation. If Tricia would have just called Cool Cabins to discuss this, instead of sounding off publicly on the Internet, they would have informed her of this law and helped her deal with her other issues. If a hot pad, locked doors when there are three other doors to our deck, walking 30 feet to get to the dock, and having no fireplace in July are considered “Key Elements” as Tracy calls them, then we apologize. We have addressed these “Key Elements”. Anyone else that has a propensity to complain and do not have a grounded perspective of the incredible beauty of this home and its unbelievable location should seriously look somewhere else to rent. For anyone looking forward to vacationing at an incredible one-of-a-kind craftsman lodge home with unbelievable views, tons of amenities and a perfect location, you have found it. You have also found the best rental agency in Big Bear. I have been renting cabins in Big Bear for 15 years – I choose Cool Cabins because they are the best.

The home met and exceeded our expectations, location great! It was a great place for afamily gathering. Only drawback was acess to the dock, I walk with a cane so particulary hard on me, younger ones not so bad.

Upon arrival the cleaning crew was still present
We noticed 2 big scratches in the wood floors
We then pointed them out to the cleaning lady
When we returned home we had a call saying we were
Being charged for them.also the cabin was advertised
With wifi and two tvs, the wifi worked for half a day
and never again, and there was only 1 working tv
as for the cabin it's beautiful, except for the advertised private
Beach, it's an uneven dirt area that's not useable

We are a family of twelve and absolutely loved renting this home. Our children and grandchildren loved to fish off the dock and we also rented a boat. It was the perfect low key vacation, away from the hectic lifestyle of So. California! We actually have rented this house for next June already. We are hoping that the landscaping will be in...just had a little trouble with several scraped knees due to slipping down the back bank to get to the docks. Perhaps a little weeding out of the brush so that kids can play a bit in the water...that would be great!

The house is done right... not completely finished and I think that's why it's being offered at such a great deal. We are a group who never leaves our destination once we've arrived to our Big Bear homes that our groups rent. So the kitchen, sleeping quarters, deck and gathering area as well as access to the lake is essential to our stay and this house certainly provided for all of that and more! Rules and Regs of BB are becoming a bit over the top as we are all punished for others mistakes, like not being able to use the outdoor fire place/pit was a disappointment. The jacuzzi is awesome and large enough to accommodate several adults. The deck and great room provides for ample room to enjoy each other or get away from each other. The owner's did a great job and when complete this property will be truly a magical and highly desired home to enjoy good times and create incredible memories with friends and family. Most of all, we'd like to thank Shaina of Cool Cabins for outstanding customer service... she is truly an asset to any business owner.
Great House, Horrible Service

The Quiet Bay Landing is an amazing property and amazing house. Unfortunately, there were some serious management issues that couldn't really be overcome. The biggest issue is that we didn't have hot water for over half our stay! This was an electrical/plumbing issue that couldn't get resolved because the management company kept sending out clueless maintenance guys who couldn't fix it. The dishwasher was also broken. It took an actual plumber to come in and make repairs. At over $1000/night, you'd think they'd send a plumber right away, but both the house owner and management were too cheap to try and accommodate the guests. When we complained, we were given minimal reparations, as the management company's excuse was, "This is a new property for us, we're learning how things work." I guess the lesson here is that with Big Bear Cool Cabins, the customer pays for the management company's learning curve. Such a disappointment considering how amazing this cabin is. Right on the lake, great layout, rooms and appliances, private dock - it's got everything... except hot water.

What a beautiful, beautiful home! We couldn't have asked for a better location and home to suit our family's needs. It was the best week we have ever spent in Big Bear.
The only glitch we had was that when we arrived, the home had not been cleaned yet. The housekeepers had just arrived when we checked in.
But, other than that , we could have stayed a lot longer we felt so comfortable there. Thank you!
