Huntington Beach, CANot a Good Value.
Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Eight hundred plus dollars for 2 nights. Pillows and beds were uncomfortable. Vacuum cleaner was broken. Walls were razor thin with no privacy. Bathrooms were cramped like a jetliner! One bathroom had a broken toilet seat, a quality control lapse! The unit did not have a futon as it came apart and was removed during the stay of the previous tenants. It was never did get replaced during our stay, an indicative of management's lack of contingency plans. On the positive side, the kitchen area was good with recent upgrading efforts evident and paying dividends. While there were flat TVs all around, only the one in the living room area had the High Definition cable box with premium channels.
Overall, we felt it was overpriced for what it offered. To put things in perspective, we have a time share with the Westin resorts and our criteria may be skewed. Some with more Bohemian approach to mountain resorts may find this place adequate.

It was a little hard to find, no big deal though. We went in the winter time but the house warmed up pretty quick and after that it stayed warm. The cabbin is prettier in person, everything worked fine, we got hot water in the shower. The only negative thing I would have to say is the firewood, it was so thick that it wouldn't start, we had to go buy our own. Can't say much about the hot tub because it was too cold to use it but the grill worked great as well. The beds were stiff when we first got there because it was so cold but the heat softened them and they are so comfy! This is not in walking distance of the village it's close to stores but not the actual big bear village , false information. We liked it so much though we now want to make this a tradition, every winter !

We really liked the house. It has a very small kitchen but has all the pots and pans needed, plus dishes. Just not much room for food pantry stuff. The back yard is fully fenced, but the fence slats were too big for our dogs. They could go through them and out into the road, so we had to watch them the whole time outside. We have 9lb and 6 lb chihuahua, so if your dogs are bigger you should have no problems. Our stay was in aug. and the weather wasn't too hot, and there is no a/C. The one stand up fan in the house didn't work, but we found a window fan by behind the TV which helped because the main living area is upstairs and bedrooms are downstairs. The only thing we had to call the office for was on how to work the upstairs TV. They had someone out to the house in minutes. If there was a "how to" guide for the TV that would be nice for future guests.

Las Vegas, NVAwesome Cabin!
Left on 07/27/2012 for a stay in July 2012
A small group of friends and I recently rented this cabin for my husbands surprise birthday getaway. We looked through all of the 'pet-friendly' listings and when we found this one, and after reviewing the pictures, we immediately fell in love. When we arrived, the cabin exceeded our expectations. The two bedrooms are furnished with comfy beds, flats screen TVs, DVD players etc. The upstairs has a sleeper futon, however we were able to move the coffee table and fit a king sized double air matress with room to spare. There was plenty of seating in the living room, a great flat screen TV, DVD player, lots of games in the pantry, a fully stocked kitchen, - the works! The bathrooms, both upstairs and down have roomy showers which came in very handy. My only complaint, if you could call it that, would be the lack of large towels, but really we could have brought our own. We also brought our golden retriever, who thoroughly enjoyed the large fenced in yard and plenty of room to move about the cabin. All in all our stay was wonderful and we will definitely be back to stay at Tomahawk again! Thank you Big Bear Cool Cabins!

San DiegoA perfect fit for our family
Left on 07/12/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Cool Cabins provided excellent service. We called for them to help us with the hot tub and they were there within minutes, answered our questions and even cleaned it for us.
The home itself was spotless and well stocked with kitchen accessories, linens, and family entertainment. We loved having the speaker to listen to our music from our iPhones. The three flat screen tvs equipped with cable, on demand, dvr, and DVD were also wonderful. Jr. Monopoly was a big hit with our five year old!
The yard area was nice. We used the grill, patio and hot tub daily. I'm sure the hot tub in the snow season would be fabulous.
The location is walking distance to Snow Summit and centrally located near the main village and lake areas. Minutes away from everything!
We loved our time spent at this home and would certainly look to stay here again. -

Left on 06/27/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We enjoyed staying at Tomahawk. The back yard is large and our dogs were safe as it is fenced. The spa is excellent. One thing that was a difficulty is the extremely steep stair case inside. The stairs are not carpeted and slippery, and it was impossible for our dogs to use them, which confined them to the downstairs and outside. Also the outside stairs from the back yard to the second floor had an unnerving sway. The rooms were very comfortable and the kitchen had everything. We got so comfy that we only went out for one meal while we were visiting!

La Quinta, CAExcellent location!
Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This cabin was just as pictured. Nice flat screen tvs in the living room and both bedrooms. While the bedrooms have cable, the only cable box (allowing you to watch movie channels) was on the living room tv. The location was perfect - we were 2 blocks from Snow Summit and had easy access to Big Bear Blvd. It seemed like everything was within a very short drive. When we first got to the cabin, we had an issue with the thermostat and after I called, we had a technician at the cabin within a few minutes. Amazing customer service! All in all a great cabin but a couple of things to know...
There is a huge skylight in the center of the roof that looks great but also makes the second floor of the cabin insanely hot and there is no air conditioning. There are fans but it takes awhile to cool things down. It wasn't a deal breaker but definitely something to be aware of.
The bedspread in one of the rooms was covered in dog hair. We just switched it out for the extra comforter that was provided so no big deal but I didn't notice it until I put my infant son on the bed and when I picked him up he was covered in pet hair.
To get direct access to the gated yard, you have to take the stairs from the second floor of the cabin or you can go out the front door and walk around to the side. This was only an issue for us because we didn't feel comfortable using the hot tub while the baby was sleeping because it would have been too big a hassle to get to him in the bedroom (the bedrooms are on the first floor) if he started crying.
We enjoyed our stay and will use Big Bear Cool Cabins again for our next trip! -

Everything we could have needed was there (toilet paper, soap, toiletries). The yard was nice and large for our dogs and the beds were very comfortable. The only negative thing I have to say about this place is you can hear everything. The bedrooms are downstairs and any noise made upstairs could be heard. Try sleeping when all you hear is the clicking of dog nails on the floor hahaha!

Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Everything about this place was so cozy. There are 2 bedrooms downstairs which both are very very comfortable and a futon upstairs which is where we slept the majority of the time we were there. The place was relatively clean except for a bit of dust here and there but nothing major. The kitchen was super spacious and easy to use. The backyard was spacious and clean and our dogs loved being outside. Since we went in the Summer there were very large ants running about so if you have children or curious animal i would advise caution as they are kinda mean. The Jacuzzi and gas BBQ were very clean and well kept. Tomahawk is close to ski slopes and a very short drive to the lake and village and animal sanctuary. My wife was 6 months pregnant and loved it here. She had a bit of trouble going up and down the stairs but not too bad. Overall our experience was a wonderful one. If you use the dryer be advised that it emits a burning smell but we had called guest services about it and they sent someone over right away and assured it it was in working condition and it was only because it was an old dryer. We loved this place and look forward to returning sometime in the future.

We came up the weekend of 4/20 right after the ski season ended, so no one was around but there was still snow everywhere. It was hot, clear weather. The cabin was great for 4 people and had everything we needed. The slopes were literally a short walk up the street. I think we were the only ones on the street for the whole weekend. We pretty much just sat in the hot tub and enjoyed the nature around us. Fireplace was a big plus for s'more-making. Awesome trip! We're going to make it a yearly tradition.

Negatives:Dirty floors;my socks were black after minutes of walking on the floor. Dishes; all the dishes we used had to be washed prior to using due to caked on food particles and greasiness. We had to make another trip to the rental office to pick up dish washing liquid and sponge since the place didn't have any. Ashes; We were told we had to dispose of our ashes from the fire place and the grill yet both places as ashes in them when we arrived and we had to clean the grill prior to use due to baked on meat.Internet; The write up for this cabin said that internet was provided. We could not get the internet to work and when we called nothing was done about it. Linen;Clean but industrial and not welcoming soft.Same with the toilet paper... hard and painful.Lighting; There was a lack of good lighting.Screen door; The wheel of the screen door leading to the outside upper porch was broken so we could not close the screen. Steps to back yard; The second step from the bottom was broken and made it difficult to step down, especially in the dark. The toilet seat in the upper bathroom did not stay up do all of the males in the party had to hold the bottom seat up while peeing. Positives: Jacuzzi; The Jacuzzi was nice and hot and comfortable. Not enough lighting in the back yard but the Jacuzzi was good. Tv's; All of the 3 TVs worked well and had plenty of variety to watch. Beds; comfortable. Yard; Big and roomy for pets. All fenced in. Heating; Warm inside and fireplace was nice. Kitchen;Stocked with spices and all appliances worked well.Didn't use the grill outside but BBQ on upper deck was adequate. All and all it was a good stay.My main concern was that this place has been written up for it uncleanliness yet the problem still exist.I think they need a new housekeeping crew in there or they just don't care. Many issues were also just plain old maintenance.Perhaps the owners don't care enough to do anything about these things right now.

The Tomahawk cabin itself was little awkwardly built, the bedrooms are downstairs as you enter, and the small living room with the kitchen, upstairs. What I liked about the cabin was that the bedrooms floors were clean and beds made. The kitchen major applances were new and clean. I have requested extra sheets and pillow cases, and they were delivered on timely manner.
I have sent my coments and concerns to the management already. One my concerns was that couches and comforters in the bedrooms were covered with pet hair and it took me a long time trying to vacuum them. I recommended to the management to add in their contract language to have guests bring their pet's bedding with them and not allow pets get on couches and comforters. To send someone to inspect the cabin, the balcony and the porch to ensure the areas have been properly swept/cleaned.
while we were there, it appeared that it has not been swept for a long time. To reposition one of the beds as the heater is right under the headboard, and it became very uncomfortable to sleep.Response from Big Bear Cool Cabins - 03/04/2012

This cabin has everything you could need for a great Big Bear Getaway. It has a hot tub, very nice propane grill, flat screens throughout the house, and a washer/dryer. My one complaint may be it is a little loud if people are walking around upstairs and you're trying to fall asleep downstairs. Other than that great weekend and would highly recommend.

If you love the slopes (or not), this property is amazing! I brought my 82 yr old father, 10 yr old son, 3 yr old dog and 22 yr old bird to this property. We all had a fantastic time! This cabin is rustic, but the kitchen, bathrooms and main living space were clean and contemporary. Love the windows...beautiful views, especially enjoyed watching the night skiers while I sat by a warm fire! My son took a couple of boarding lessons the first day...being walking distance from the lifts made this amazingly easy! My dad enjoyed the big-screen TV...the dog loved the huge fenced-in backyard and my bird "sang" the entire time! Only complaint...beds and pillows were uncomfortable. Bring your own goose down if you want that pampered feeling at night! I like to try different properties every year, but it will be hard to beat this one!

We got lucky and had a lot of snow. The cabin is really close to snow summit. The kids could sled in the street, as it is very quiet.
The design of the cabin is really nice. We spent hours playing games near the chimney enjoying the surrounding view of the snow. And we enjoyed making snowmen in the backyard. Even the dog had a blast!
The only pitfalls of the cabin were -the beds were not very comfortable (my husband and I woke up every morning with backaches) - and - the cleanliness of the first floor bathroom (mold in the tub.)
We overall had a lot of fun in this cabin. -

Well i guess my detail review was too long so i'll make it short. Furniture was not moved and cleaned under, there were nail clippings when i moved the futon. I ignored and went on with my vacation. Next day when i was about to give my 16 month old a bath the tub was dirty with soap scum and dirty shower liner, i had to clean with available Berry Clorox bleach and sponge(i guess it was a hint from them). My baby touched the blinds in room and got all dirty, when i looked the blinds were super dusty like it they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Then lastly the hot tub had a brown wax/grease ring which led me to believe that the previous guest used it and was not cleaned after. That said, i was terrified to use anything, including cups and glasses. Next day, when i called to check out, i let the person i talked to,( a girl who's name started with a V(or whomever checked us out, i clearly don't remember)know. She said she was new but that she would make notes of the issues. I never even got an apology. We paid over $350 for 2 nights for a place that obviously wasn't even "ready" for guests. I don't know, in my book $350 buy a couple of new shower liners and a couple of days of full house cleaning. I was just so disappointed about the cleanliness. The cabin itself is great, with an amazing location and the beds were oh so comfy! It would've been a 5 stars if it would've been clean.

The best part about staying here is that you are surrounded by nature's best: big trees, high up on the mountains, peaceful, quiet.
The tomahawk was wonderful experience. It is the very first time our whole family stayed at a cabin-like house, while retaining some of the important high-end technology, such as the large flat screen TVs, Dvds, and Catv.
My family and I look forward to stay at another cabin house in the near future, possibly during snow season. -

Left on 09/24/2011 for a stay in September 2011
I brought my 18-year-old daughter and 84-year-old mother (and my standard poodle) to Big Bear to celebrate my mom's birthday. She had never been. We had such a wonderful time. Because it was after Labor Day and before ski season, we had the whole street to ourselves, and it was lovely. Very, very quiet.
We enjoyed the cabin immensely! Each room has a flat screen TV and DVD player. My daughter was in heaven as they also had Wifi for her laptop which worked perfectly. The beds were very comfortable. The showers were great. They even provide soap/shampoo! The kitchen had everything you would need (except paper towels). Nice dishes, utensils, cookware, toaster, microwave, coffee maker -- you name it, they had it! It was very clean, especially with the lovely hardwood floors. The backyard was completely fenced so my dog could enjoy herself outside without me worrying. We even made a fire in the fireplace which was great. They had all kinds of games for kids as well. There were windows everywhere so you could enjoy the outside. If you're wanting to ski during the winter, Snow Summit is walking distance (we took their Sky Chair; what fun!).
The only negative things I have to say is that even though the TVs were wonderful, the upstairs one was a little difficult for me to figure out (no directions), but once I did, it was great. The other was one of the reading lights in one of the bedrooms didn't work (bulb, I'm guessing), and also the outlet in the downstairs bathroom didn't seem to work (couldn't use it for my hairdryer). I did call Cool Cabins for the TV problem, and they were extremely efficient and were going to send a guy out to help me, but right after I hung up, I figured it out and he didn't need to come.
In summary, we had a splendid time. I was so delighted to be able to bring my mom to Big Bear (her health is failing), and she really had a wonderful time. I highly recommend this cabin!

Very Satisified Customer
Alhambra, CAExcellent accommodations
Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Although we have rented cabins in Big Bear before, this was our first experience with Cool Cabins. The Tomahawk cabin was in excellent condition. The kitchenware was well-stocked and in very good condition. The cabin contains up-to-date furnishings and electronics. I was very impressed with Cool Cabins' preparation. There was an ample supply of dishing washing products, TP, paper towels, tissue boxes, and bath products. We were so pleased with the accommodations that we rented the cabin for an extra night! I also want to compliment the hard working staff in the Cool Cabins office. Even though they were very, very busy, all encounters with staff either in-person or by phone were handled promptly. I spoke with at least 4 persons over the course of our stay. Each person was very friendly and professional. Thanks to all. We will definitely use Cool Cabins in the future.

Temecula, CAVery satisfactory
Left on 06/30/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Our stay was very pleasant. Cabin was clean and had everything we needed. Nice size cabin for our family of 4 and our dog. Flat panel TV in each bedroom and the main room. Located on a quiet street, centrally located and walking distance to Snow Summit. Our only issue was the 11:00 am checkout time; would like to see a later checkout time.

Fountain Valley, CAApril 2011 Tomahawk Cabin Rental
Left on 05/04/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I rented the cabin for 3 nights (April 24-26, 2011). I was very satisfied with the rental. Since it was my first stay in the Big Bear area, I wanted a cabin that was centrally located and provided a good "base of operations" to explore the area. Tomahawk was right down the street from Snow Summit but off on a side street so it was not subjected to the traffic on Summit road. The cabin was clean and the main living room and kitchen area had a was bright and airy due to the color of the walls and lots of windows, including a large ceiling window. We had five in our party (3 adults and 2 kids) and all slept comfortably. I would rent it again.

Los Alamitos, CAPerfect!
Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in February 2011
Our family of four (Mom, Dad, son and pup) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Not only was the weather perfect (lots of snow), but the home was only a short walk to the slopes. This property was thre perfect size for our family and we can't wait to come back and visit again. Thanks again for a great trip.
