While the cabin was well kept, there were several issues: water leak from faucet in front of the house; way too many holiday knick-knacks on display that took up too much room. No cabinet space for food. Dresser drawers were full with other people's stuff. Lastly, the mattress in each room was absolutely horrible and uncomfortable.

The Lake House is a wonderful place to stay. Three of us adults about filled it up for three nights...although you could bring a couple kids along and do quite nicely. Very, very comfortable and charming. Nice view. Decorated for Christmas, which added a special touch. Really like the Cool Cabin folks. The only thing missing were instructions on how to operate the TV system, but we figured it out. And we didn't figure out the living room fireplace. The downstairs bedroom is quite nice with a fireplace (gas) and a great view of the lake as well.

From the moment we walked into the cabin, we fell in love with The Lake House. Between the layout and the decor, the cabin had everything we needed for a peaceful weekend getaway. We absolutely loved all of the details the owners put into this "home away from home". The pictures do not do this cabin justice!
While the cabin is not located on the "main" part of the lake, there is still a beautiful view of the cove where the cabin is located which offers both gorgeous sunrises and sunsets.
There were a couple of problems that we encountered during our stay, but they did not hamper our weekend in the slightest. We could not get the shower in one of the upstairs bathrooms to work, but since the other two showers worked fine, we used those instead. Also, on our last night, we attempted to use the hot tub, but could not get it to heat up. Since it was after office hours, we did not call to have it fixed. Both of these issues were reported to Cool Cabins when we checked out.
Despite the two minor issues, we had a wonderful weekend and felt comfortable that if we had brought these problems to Cool Cabins attention earlier in our stay, they would have fixed them.
I would definitely book through Cool Cabins the next time we are looking to stay in Big Bear and would consider staying at The Lake House again.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay, Please call us when you are ready to visit Big Bear again!
Could be better

The Pros: The cabin is actually beautiful, there was less spider webs than what we had expected. The balcony facing the bay is nice with 2 BBQ grills available and working. The living room and the kitchen were clean, tidy, and no odors. All appliances were working and well maintained. The area is pretty quite and clean, with no much of traffic or loud music. The backyard is fenced and safe for 3 little girls to play in.
The Cons: The bunk bed room is super tight, the W/C door handle on the first floor jammed and we had to do a certain technique to open the door. In the master bedroom down below, we found the owner sweat pants still hanging and some trash as well. The access to the lake is very limited. We brought our own kayak and had to squeeze it through the small backyard gate opening. We thought that the cabin had a boat dock, the picture showed what we thought was a boat dock, but nope. Except for the small back gate opening and no boat dock, we didn't have many to complain. The place is very well maintained and clean.
We might look for a better situated front lake cabin with a private dock the next time we come. But we'll use the Lake House cleanliness as our standard.

The cabin has the feel of a cabin - all wood walls, rustic decorations, animal head on the wall, fireplaces, etc. You definitely feel you are out in the woods, even if you are not. The cabin has a great view of the lake, a clean jacuzzi, central air/heating, huge leather couch, tons of blankets, a few board games, etc.
It was really nice to jump in the jacuzzi after being sore from skiing. A snow storm made relaxing in the jacuzzi even more perfect.
I had a great time with great people.

This cabin was beautiful and clean. The jacuzzi did not work but when we called the office they came right over and repaired it. Could use a couple more items to cook with in the kitchen. But overall We would definitely stay again. Especially if the price was a bit lower
