First off, i want to start by praising big bear cool cabins... Above and beyond in customer service. They allowed us to change our reservation due to a family emergency and were very accommodating. Easy check in and check out. Will use them again.
Second, cornerstone cabin was awesome. So many nice things to say, off the beaten path, walk to the golf course, minutes to the grocery, and to the lake and slopes. Will stay here again.
Would only criticize a few things. A new grill would be nice. The hot tub is not very private, as it is right on the road. Even a small privacy fence on the side would work. One of the chairs was pretty dirty too. But none of these things were a deal breaker.
The trip was so much fun and to have the National Forest in "my"

The service from Big Bear Cool Canine was good. The first step prior to going to the cabin was to obtain the key lock code and parking details/slips but I had to contact Cool Cabins for this information rather than them simply emailing it to me a week or so in advance, which was fine, but confusing. The home was very clean when we arrived and was beautiful. The most amazing part was walking out to the backyard and being in the National Forest! My puppies loved that more than I did. I also love that this cabin is dog friendly! The only issue I had with the cabin was that the heater was not working properly but eventually it did start working again. We loved keeping the fireplace going every night. Another great aspect of the location was that Bear Mountain was about a one minute drive away and snowboarding was the reason for this trip so I really liked that! All-in-all this was an amazing trip and I hope to do it again! Read more
We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay! Just wanted to let you know that heater is in complete working order, the homeowner sent over a licensed technician and everything will be nice and cozy for your next visit!
Looked Good But ...

We got checked in at your office very quickly and easily and headed to the cabin. We stopped at the store for food. Everything looked good as we drove up and the inside had it's charms but we noticed that there were only 3 mismatched water glasses, not good for a cabin that can hold 4-5 adults, and all of the window coverings were hanging by just 2 or three hooks leaving most of the drape just sagging.. There was no wood for a fire, which would have been okay if we had been told that, but that caused a second trip to the store. After getting a fire going we started dinner preparations only to find that the indoor gas grill could not be used, because the gas could not be turned on, and the outdoor BBQ, that was advertised, was charcoal only, another trip to the store. With dinner finished and us seated and enjoying the fire we watched TV for a couple of hours when all of a sudden the fireplace quit drawing and the house got very smokey. This after about 3 hours of no trouble, so obviously we had the flu open. We then sat with all the windows open, wrapped in blankets to keep warm, and waited for the smoke to clear. The fire died out and we went to bed. At 1 am the Carbon Monoxide sensor starting going off. I noticed that it was mounted about 5 feet off the floor, way way too high. So I knew that if it went off there must be a lot of Carbon Monoxide. I do the 'open windows, use blankets" thing again. At 3 I go threw the same process again. I stay up this time because I am afraid of dieing in my sleep. The alarm went off one more time so I turned off the the heater. The alarm stopped going off. Upon stopping at the office to checkout I enumerated these issues to the person at the front desk who said she would have housekeeping look in to it. Housekeeping? Really? The next day I realized that I had left my $100 work flashlight at the cabin so I called the office and was told that they would call me back to let me know when I could pick it up. I never got called back. Read more
We are looking into the issue in regards to the fireplace and the smoke. I also informed our lost and found to make sure that we have the flash light and they will be getting back to you. We do apologize for the experience you did have. Big Bear Cool Cabins wishes you back to Big Bear very soon!

My wife and I spent a long weekend for our 25th anniversary in this cabin and it was a great place to be. The location is great although the street is a little busy. There is ample parking and the back patio is quite large with open forest behind the property. This would be a five star rating except for the downstairs bed is as hard as a rock and needs a new matteress.

Cornerstone cabin not for small children
Left on 09/05/2013 for a stay in August 2013 | McGahan family
This was a very small cabin. The pictures make it look much larger than it is. The livingroom is great, but the rest of the cabin leaves a lot to be desired. The bedroom feels more like a cell with the lack of design. It is just a bed with white walls and spiders. The loft is small, but it is nice. Unfortunately, you have to climb the spiral stairs of doom to get to the loft. The loft also has a special room that is locked off to paying guests. The only shower in the house is approximately the size of a coffin. The kitchen has mostly updated appliances, but bring your own knives because spoons are sharper than the knives provided. There is a heater, but no way to regulate the temperature. You either have the heater on full blast or completely off. The yard is decent sized, but has poorly constructed steps that are a fall risk. The cabin is also located on one of the busiest streets in Big Bear. Cool Cabins has many nice cabins to choose from, but this is not one of them!
Comfortable getaway cabin to relax at.

We had such a great time here. It was the second year we stayed at Cornerstone. We were able to bring our dogs and the back yard opened up to the forest with hiking trails. There was a fun swing, a hammock, and a spa that was so nice to relax in. The cabin is nice and cozy with 2 comfortable recliners, a fire place, a flat screen TV, and 2 bathrooms. Very comfortable! The cabin is located close to town for shopping and we found a great antique shop! It was a great week and we hope to return again next year!

This was our first experience with Cool Cabins and I would defintely use their service again.
The Cornerstone Cabin was adorable. Very vintage Big Bear. If you are looking for a cabin with vintage style and character, this is the cabin for you. The outdoor spa was a lovely addition. Yes, it is near the road, but the road is not that heavily traveled. And the spa is not that close to the street. Not a big deal Imho.
Some advice, the bed in the loft is incredibly comfortable. Don't be fooled by the "luxury" of the Cali King! Stick the kids in the Cali King room and take the loft queen! ;-)
There were ants in the summer, but where in the SoCal area will you be ant free? They loved our trash, so no big deal. We kept the food on the kitchen "island" and kept the countertops clean. Not a big deal.
Super close to the zoo, lots of fun! Very close to the lake and hiking. Very close to grocery stores. Great BBQ, backyard, tree swing!!
I would stay in this cabin again. Great for a family.

The cabin was great. It was easy to find. The only setback was utilizing the jacuzzi. We had a hard time getting the jacuzzi to warm up. We turned it on at 11:30am until 8pm and the water was luke warm. I had to call the office to send someone to fix it. However, we were only able to enjoy the jacuzzi for a couple of hours the next day. This was a bit disappointing as we selected this cabin specifically for the ease of using the jacuzzi. Also, the jacuzzi is located on the front side of the house, so it's in plain sight of the street. Wish there was a little more privacy. My kids had a great time on the swing and played with the horse shoes in the yard. Other than the jacuzzi incident, we had a great time.

While our stay was enjoyable, it could have been better with a little more attention to detail. First and foremost, the hot tub sat on a deck fully exposed to the street, and who passed by. We did not use it for that reason. The cabin backs up to the forest so there is plenty of privacy behind the cabin. The king bed was comfortable but was short sheeted. One of the top sheets looked like a queen or smaller. Bbq grill was in bad shape. Needs replacing. Didn't use it. The cabin was very comfortable and despite these problems we had a good time there.

First of all I was blown away by how Cute this place is. I felt like Snow White walking into this place. We took our kids, 8,7,3, & 9 months.)It's laid out soo well that you never feel cramped at all. The huge island was awesome for us all to sit at, my kids loved having hot cocoa there.
No need to get in your car to go sledding, we took our kids right behind Cornerstone in the woods and there was this huge hill that we used (straight back & up to the left). My kids even sledded in the front yard. My 7 year old daughter had a great time on the tire swing in the front yard.
I wish there were some plastic cups at the cabin, I stressed giving my kids glass, besides that I would love to stay here again.
Nice clean cabin, but hot tub was cold.

We liked the cornerstone cabin location and the cabin itself was clean and comfortable. The only drawback was the hot tub was very cold and there was no way to increase the temperature. That was one of the selling points for the cabin in the first place. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and it was very close to Bear Mountain Ski Resort.

My fiance and I stayed here recently and really enjoyed ourselves. The cabin is small but there is a nice large open floor plan inside. There is a lot of land outside as well which might be fun for kids to play in.
A few drawbacks:
- The hot tub is visible from the road so we only felt comfortable using it at night. This place is located right on the corner off of Club View Drive.
- Overall the place is clean but we did see a mouse in the kitchen on our last night there and found some minor mouse droppings on the floor at that same time.
- Kitchen was very well stocked. Plates, pans, bowls, utensils, etc.
- The eclectic design of this place is pretty charming.
- Close to town, but far enough that you have some seclusion.
- Got the 3rd night for free because there was a deal on this place when I booked.
Overall it was a good experience. The place could probably use a little bit of updating to replace some of the older items, but it still does have a fair amount of charm as is.

We enjoyed our stay at Cornerstone Cabin. The house is older, but has a lot of personality. The interior has a lot of interest, with architectural details and nice stonework, but the furnishings are old. The bed linens were clean and the comforters newer. The street below the house was pretty busy, but the lot is heavily treed and has fun things to do. We loved that there is access to the National Forest from the back yard. There are a lot of trails to hike on and a couple of them were good for mountain biking.
Left on 09/26/2012 for a stay in September 2012 | Malcolm
Comfortable cabin, nice experience in the mountains. Only drawback is the location of the cabin. It is on a street that had a ski festival at the top of the hill, and for 2 consectutive day hundreds of walkers and hundreds of cars passed up and down the hill. Needless to say, towards the end of each day, the group became louder and ruder as more alcohol was consumed.

Cornerstone Cabin was the perfect sized cabin for our weekend getaway. We had four adults and a toddler in our group. The cabin itself is super cute and has some fun amenities outside, such a rope swing, Jacuzzi, and hammock. However the inside left much to be desired. The layout of the cabin is nice. It works well for families or two couples, but the first thing we encountered upon arrival were ants in the kitchen. There were food crumbs all over the kitchen floor and on the barstools, which the ants seemed to enjoy eating. Next, there were cobwebs throughout the cabin. They were hanging from the ceiling in most of the rooms. The lower areas of the cabin were dusted, just not the hard-to-reach places. Then the couch and chairs were covered in dog/cat hair so we needed to put sheets over them to stop our guest with allergies from itching and sneezing. The couch and chairs are very old and uncomfortable. The cushions on the couch continuously sunk in and needed to be pulled out after a few minutes of rest. The TV is small & old, as well as the VCR and DVD, but they worked so no complaints there. The beds were comfortable and bathrooms were acceptable, except for the hairball and crumbs found on the downstairs bathroom floor when we arrived. The large "table" in the kitchen was great to sit around during our meals. Overall, Cornerstone Cabin was an okay place to stay, but would be a great one if the cleaning crew stepped up their services and the furniture was updated for comfort. Read more

The cabin and it's location was great! The backyard opened out into the forest, which allowed us to hike on different trails with our dogs. The cabin is pet friendly which is why we picked it. Cabin smelled like cigarette smoke upon check in. Towels, blankets & lines all smelled like mildew (saying mildew is putting it nicely). Silverware was rusted & extremely old. Dishes all old. Should have brought our own disposable plates, silverware, & linens. Remotes for tv in bedroom had no back covers or batteries. Chairs on porch are broken, should be removed & trashed. Luckily our friends stayed up the street & we spent most of our time with them & at the ski resort. Read more

great little escape from the city
Left on 01/25/2012 for a stay in January 2012 | Xn
I loved this cottage for a couple of reasons. First, it's very reasonably priced, second, really close to Bear Mountain Ski Park, 2-3 blocks. And it has both a hot tub(outside) and a wood burning fireplace. All the essentials for a mountain escape. It's not in the "city" proper, it's up off the main street and backs up to the woods. Very peaceful, but it is on the main road, so during the morning and afternoon rushes to the park, it's quite busy with traffic, if that kind of thing bothers you. I will stay here again, hopefully, and will definitely recommend to others. The house is comfortable and stocked with all the kitchen stuff we needed.

We loved the cabin, the outside, and the theme of it. The one thing I would suggest with this cabin though is that they get some new furniture and beds. The loft bed actually slanted downward and we had some people with back problems so they were very uncomfortable. Other than that the cabin was just wonderful and great fireplace!!
