This home was unbelievably perfect. Every amenity you could ever want or dream of, including hot tub, pool table, and fully equip kitchen perfect for entertaining. The location was just minutes from the slopes and downtown. In addition, we had a minor maintenance issue upon arrival and management sent someone out immediately to fix it. One of the coolest places I have ever stayed.
Perfect for a large family.

We planned a family Christmas with 16 family members. I was worried we would be crowded and uncomfortable. This cabin was perfect! We had plenty of room and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. It had a beautiful kitchen with everything we needed. If you have a large group I would highly recommend this cabin.
"Wait your turn"

Checking in was quick we had to wait to get to the cabin due to people checking out that morning. Pictures attached of what we found when walked in. My husband and I looked around for cleaning supplies to start cleaning. I do not know if the place was not clean because of little time between renters or they were short staffed. I called to get trash picked up during business hours but it took a second phone call to remind them and since it was after hours it took a while. If you like to take hot showers wait your turn. Beds need to be replaced, sleeping for everyone was horrible. Furniture needs to be replaced stool chairs broken or torn.
Fix or replace pool table leather pockets and sticks. We are not smokers so when one of the kids found a nasty plastic bottle of wet, smoked cigarettes, lighter and empty carton out by the hot tub I am just glad they did not spill it that would have been awful to clean up. I called and complained about ants but was told it was the time of the year. We bought bug spray before we put our groceries away. I would suggest owners going though and replacing the small refrigerators they both do not work.
The cabin is very roomy, I liked the huge table in the dinning room we were all able to eat together. Small appliances worked. Washer and drier worked. The cabin is beautiful but really needs some TLC. The location is great walking distance to lake and park. The neighborhood was quiet.
I think if they would just spend one week rental money on replacing everything that is broken and that does not work and make sure it is clean enough and comfortable to sleep in I would have given this a better rating.
Great kitchen, but beds needs very uncomfortable

The house itself is set up nicely. There is lots of room here and the walk to the Boulder Bay Park and fishing pier is very easy. The mattresses on all the beds were worn out (except the one king downstairs) though. Since we stayed in late august, one thing that was important to us was the air conditioning. It didn't work. Going to bed at night was very uncomfortable, even with the windows open. This is a great house, but it needs some attention from maintenance to make for a great stay. Kitchen was awesome!!!
Best deal in town

To begin, the staff at Cool Cabins were friendly and pleasant to work with. As long has you have everything that is required of you, it should not take you more than 10 mins, to get your keys and head of to you cabin. This place was huge & clean, plenty of room to lounge and have fun. Enjoy it, I did!

Overall nice large high end cabin. Plenty of space, family friendly kitchen with large dinning table. Easy parking for 4, the 5th car is very tight, will not work if any snow for the 5th car.
Only couple of minor maintenance issues.Lots of light bulbs needed to be changed. 2 of the bed frames were very squeaky, sofa beds are uncomfortable as one would expect.
Cool cabins needs more people available during the heavy check in period.

I've stayed in a lot of cabins in big bear, and this was by far the best one. Not sure if it can be called a cabin, it's more of a modern remodeled house! My friends and I had a blast here.

We had a men's retreat for our church and the location was excellent. There is a large entertainment room big enough to have our group devotion (Worship and bible teaching). Large dining table, kitchen, and plenty of sleeping area. All of our guys were begging to come back to this location!

Perfect for families

We recently spent a weekend in Big Bear with a group of friends, including two families with infants. Boulder Bay Castle easily accommodated all 11 adults and 2 infants comfortably and could have comfortably accommodated the 16 people it advertises space for. It is a well apportioned cabin that is ideally located within walking distance to the lake and only a short drive or walk to the Boulder Bay Park and to the trailhead for the lovely Castle Rock hike. If you have a dog, a convenient kitchen doggie door leads to a fenced in backyard. We had one small issue with electrical outlets not working in a room and the staff at Cool Cabins responded immediately, sending an electrician over to fix the problem. The staff at Cool Cabins were both polite and professional and easy to work with. I would certainly rent from them again, and highly recommend Boulder Bay Castle if you have a large group (10 or more people) to accommodate.

We never been to big bear lake before and the talking to the people at cool cabins gave me great information on the location and what is nearby. When we checked in, the staff was very friendly and renting from them was very simple. The only downfall I could think of was the many stairs at Boulder Bay Castle. We are not as young as we thought we were, plus we had and older aunt who gets around quite well with her cane but had to go around the back to avoid using the stairs.Plus make sure to call right away if you notice anything broken, so you are not charged. The sink on the first floor was leaking, garbage compacter was broken would not open, upstairs a decorative picture glass was broken and the toilet holder was broken, but other than that the place was great. They did send over a maintence guy who looked over the problems and made note of everything. Everyone loved how spacious it was, televisions in everyone room and plenty of seating for a big group. I think it could accomadate at least twenty if more bunkbeds were added to the bedroom and maybe another pullout sofa in the basement, but thats just a suggestion. We had a great time. We will difintely rent from cool cabins again.
Nearly Flawless stay

I stayed at Boulder Bay Castle between the dates of 6/21/2011 to 6/24/2011 and this place just rocks. 13 of my friends and 1 dog stayed here comfortably during our visit and all agreed this was the best cabin they have stayed at. Huge bedrooms, big dining room, big living room with a bar countertop in front of a giant wide screen TV w/ DirectTV. The kitchen was well stocked with all the pots, pans, cups, plates, utensils, knives and appliances. There were extra pillows and blankets in closets and cabinets. The bathrooms and showers were very clean. Most rooms have an overhead ceiling fan to keep the area cool. The hot tub is an added bonus as well as the pool table to keep us entertained. The cabin's centrally controlled stereo was really cool to have music play throughout the cabin (Ipod mp3 players only). The cabin is walking distance to Boulder Bay Park which you can take a stroll or grab some fishing gear and pier fish off the lake.
Just a few things to nitpick during our stay. The first day there were ants in the cabin near the kitchen. Cool cabins sent a maintenance guy the next early morning to provide raid. We were told due to the seasonal heat, ants do like to come indoors. After the first day the ants did not come back. When cooking in the kitchen the smoke detector would go off sometimes and had to have a guy(me) fan the smoke away from the alarm. We couldn't figure out how to get the aC/Fan unit to cool the cabin. (Not too much of a problem since we had overceiling fans and just opened all the windows). Despite these minor issues for us, I still give this place 5 stars.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who has a big party of 15. I have stayed in several cabins in Big Bear and this is by far my favorite one. I trust and only rent at cool cabins. They have excellent service in the Big Bear area.

This is a beautiful, big cabin with tons of amenities. There are nice Tv's and DVD/Blu-ray in almost every room. A big screen 65" with DirecTV full package in the game room, pool table. Clean jacuzzi and 42" TV off the master. Music piped throughout including the back with MP3/Ipod hookups. A very well equipped kitchen with appliances, blenders, pots, pans, and silverware. A huge jen-air BBQ in the back. Several family member rented places for the weekend, and they all loved my place the best. We had a bunch of people over for a pre-wedding dinner and it was awesome. Luxury, room, and privacy.

Our trip did not start well. Our whole family of about 20 people drove up which took us about 2 hours and when we finally got there, I got a phone call that our cabin had been double booked and we had to switch to a new cabin. All our hearts were set on this cabin because of the beauty of it and all our excitement went out the window and boy was I mad! I can be honest and say I was not very nice to the office staff but the cool cabin staff stayed very calm and nice to us the whole time. They kept sending me cabins via email to take a look at but none was comparible to what we orignally had. Finally they stepped it up and gave us an upgrade to this cabin. This cabin was absolutely gorgous! It was huge and clean. This is actually a 3 story house so the kids loved being at the bottom and the adults above. Then it seperates into the game room with pool table area with fireplace and bar closed off by french doors so it kept the noise down from the one's sleeping above. The teenagers loved the sound system which had speakers throughout the house. They felt like we were in a mansion! They also kindly granted us a late check out which was very much appreciated. You've got to go with cool cabins because if this was a private lister we would have been stranded with no house. They worked hard to please us and we will definatly go with this company again and for sure will be renting this house again.
