The main reason my group stated in this cabin was for the spa that looked so appeasing and big enough for a larger group. The spa can maybe fit 3-4 people; nothing more! The spa was already on when we arrived and all we were suppose to do was turn up the heat. After 8 hours, spa never heated past 85 degrees. We made a few phone calls and no person was able to assist the situation. Therefore, no spa for a winters night. When I contacted cool cabins in the morning , the lady ha attitude and made me feel like we were not capable of flipping a switch to turn on the spa.
This cabin appeared newly renovated and clean, but had levels of stairs to claim. Overall the stay and cabin was nice, but we were accommodated properly for the spa not working. Read more
Thank you for leaving us your feedback and again we are very sorry that the spa would not heat up. Spa's tend to be very temperamental amenities, we did have our Spa Service go out the morning you checked in to do a dump and fill and everything was in working order. We also checked it after you left and had no problems getting it to heat up. We do take responsibility whenever our guests have an issue with a spa and compensate as much as possible. We hope to see you soon!
What a fun place:)

Ok so just a few simple fixes and this place would get highest marks. Downstairs shower door slammed easily and made noise. Kitchen remodel seemed incomplete but everything was functional. Carpet needed a little TLC. People complained about the stairs but I liked the excersise. I would totally rent this place again. Great layout for two small families...

Went up with a group of guys as a send off for a buddy who is moving to a new duty station. There were five guys altogether and the accommodations were very comfortable for this size group. Fireplace, kitchen, grill...all worked well. The hot tub was pretty tight for even 3 people, but was heated and ready on arrival. No real gripes with this cabin, we had a great time.

This was a wonderful getaway for me and my wife to spend our anniversary. Very relaxing and quiet, and not far from the village and lake for entertainment. Cabin is very well furnished, has everything you need to enjoy yourself. I would definitely stay here again!

We rented this cabin for exactly 8 people as it said and it is a bit tight for 8 people. 7 people would be ok. When we arrived, the chairs in the kitchen were all loose so we had to call so service, and they got to us very quickly so that was surprising and good. The only thing i have a complaint about is that pictures on website are misleading. The grill on the photo is a gas one and it was not and we were not prepared so at night we had to go to buy coal. The view from the patio was not too appealing but the patio is ok. Just a note jaccuzzi is small and only fits 2-3 people, to be comfortable just 1. Just a note, a lot of stairs and the kitchen and most rooms are all the way at the top. I enjoyed it, my 80 year old grandpa did not so just a heads up. Clean and cozy for 6 people in my opinion. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback. Moonridge Mountain Retreat is a great property and it is rare to hear any complaints. We just wanted to take a moment to address the issues you mentioned and offer our apologies for any error in communication. First, the occupancy is set by the city and requires that there be 200 Sq. feet per occupant, this home does meet that standard. Secondly we will have a new picture taken of the barbecue to avoid any future confusion (the description states that it is charcoal). As far as the stairs we took deep consideration of this which is why they are fully pictured in the very first photo that you see online. We are deeply sorry if you felt let down by any means and we do hope you will be back to visit soon.
All our best,
The Big Bear Cool Cabins Team
Loved our stay here!

The stairs made for a great workout but besides that we loved our stay here! We will definitely come back. The hot tub is smaller than we realized and I would recommend turning the hot tub and the refrigerator up for a few hours before you'd like to use them. Makes sense but wish we had this advice prior to our stay. They both take a while! Beautiful cabin and I can't wait to try it out in the winter next time. Highly recommend!

Cabin was in great shape, very clean, had a well stocked kitchen, big refridgerator, ceiling fans in bedrooms and kitchen, bathrooms were newly updated, nice views, lots of windows, and fenced yard in back.
Only minuses were the poor TV channel selection, only one TV, long flight of stairs leading to cabin, and no umbrella for upper level patio table. For me and my boyfriend this place was perfect. But if you aren't in decent shape the stairs might be an issue, especially with luggage and groceries.

Had a great time in this unit, with our family. Had all the basics, which was plenty for us. Couldn't beat the price for the enjoyment we experienced. The only 2 negatives I can think of are, the stairs were a pain. Between luggage, groceries & supplies, they got old quick. The other, only 1 tv. Wasn't too big a deal for us, but a 2nd tv for the downstairs sitting room woulda been perfect. Nonetheless, we were very satisfied with out stay & the rental process
The house was in a quiet neighborhood. There were plenty of bedrooms to accommodate the six of us. A few initial problems were corrected quickly to our satisfaction. While the house can hold 7 people comfortably, there was nowhere that 7 people could eat together.
The staff was attentive and helpful. Activity suggestions around town were excellent. They set us up for a fishing trip that went very well for my kids and I. I would gladly go back to them for another vacation.
Really comfy place, much nicer than typical BB lodges

A couple of reviewers have commented about the stairs, which is true, but it's a mountain and gives you a great view. All 4 beds were really comfy, as was everything else. The fenced in area in back was great to let our beagle run around in too!

Beautiful cabin, just off the south east end of the lake. Comfortable layout. Be ready for a looong climb up the many many stairs until you get to the first or second floor entry, but that's just the nature of many of those cabins up the mountain. Not a big deal. Bring trashbags! They provide nothing along these lines. It's up to you to get rid of all of your garbage. Makes sense, but just be ready for that. It was only about a five minute drive down to a quiet small golf course, a five to ten minute drive to the marsh walkways (east end of lake) and only a few minutes further to the town center area (mid lake). So, close enough to be convenient, but far enough to be nice, quite and removed from all the buzz of downtown.
We were kind of expecting it to be a little more remote, but it's along a nice road with several other cabins up and down both sides. So, you're up in a nice quiet area, but it's not like you're tucked up right against the mountain so as to just walk out back and go for a hike up a trail. I'm sure trails and fire access roads are probably relatively nearby though.
A nice place. Pretty area. Convenient. Reasonably priced. An easy drive from la. Most other lakes, like Mead or Mammoth, are much more expensive and require you to stay for certain blocks of time, sometimes up to 7 days, depending on what time of year it is.

I rated this property 4 stars for 5 reasons. See if they matter.
1) It was summer and the air conditioner was not working properly.
2) The property is excellent if you want to ski and its winter. Its right next to the slopes.
3) It is at least 5-8 minutes drive if you want to buy anything. There is nothing in walking distance from this property except for the Moonridge Zoo I suppose.
4) The refrigerator ice dispenser was not working at all.
5) The cable TV had basic or even lesser channels.
The property itself is well maintained, cozy and great for family. The kitchen was fully equipped, gas grill in great condition for grilling and good size deck for family time. We were 3 kids, 4 adults and we had good size closets in all 3 bedrooms, nice beds and reasonable living room space for card games and other. I can "probably" rent this property again.
Have a great stay at Big Bear. Good luck!! Read more
