Irvine, CAFantastic place to stay with family
Left on 01/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Just spent 5 fantastic days at Colbert Cabin. Great place to stay with a family. 8 beds so everyone had a very comfortable place to sleep without having to use one of the couches by the great fireplace. Kitchen good sized, a little "light" on the silverware and some of the cooking pots and pans but even with eight and making every meal, we really didn't have too much trouble. This is not 'The Ritz" but if you want a very nice comfortable place to stay with a family that is Moonridge and not too far from Big Bear Mountain resort, this is a great place! Eight beds, great rock fireplace, decent kitchen, Internet, washer/dryer, garage to keep at least one vehicle, what's not to like?! Would definitely rent again and highly recommend! 4.5 out of 5!

Left on 02/02/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Colbert's Cabin is very spacious. The layout is perfect for a family with kids. Overall, it exceeded our expectation. There is a broken dining chair that need to be fixed. The bed linen needs to be updated. Other than that, we enjoyed the cabin thoroughly. Btw, the backyard has a slope that would be fun for the kids to play on the snow.

We enjoyed our 5th, or 6th, stay at the Colbert Cabin, which is always well maintained and seems perfect for our 3 generation family. Matthew gave us the best service ever at the check-in counter.

Toilets worked fine, no problems

Some furniture needs replacing, felt a bit outdated.

This cabin was wonderful. The pictures of the cabin doesn't do it justice. All the rooms were bigger than what was shown. Central heading worked perfectly. A hill is located behind the backyard for sledding. I would definitely rent this cabin again in the future!

This home exceeded our expectations in every way. We could find little to complain about considering we choose this home from other online reviews that lived up to all that was said about it from the cabin's location, to the openess of the home from one room to the other. This layout fit our family(including a 2 and 6 yr old) so well. We will definately choose Colbert Cabin in the future.

Left on 12/01/2010 for a stay in November 2010
We have stayed at this place for 3 years because the kids always want to come back. They stay in the bonus room over the garage so are within sight but out of the way. We liked the new practical carpeting and fresh furniture upholstering. We had everything we needed. The driveway had been cleared and the outside lights were on when we arrived, which was very appreciated. The cabin is near the forest and has a large yard within view so it's easy to watch the kids. There was only one person at the check-in desk so service was quite slow.

Left on 08/06/2010 for a stay in June 2010
We come to Big Bear a couple of times a year to escape the heat. This house was great! Very roomy and well furnished, although I had to run back into town and get trash bags, paper towels and dish washing detergent. The Moonridge area was very quiet and this street was especially secluded which made for little or no traffic noise. It was so nice to be able to put our vehicle in the garage and not worry about the "Big Bear Paint Job" i.e. pine sap! That feature is a rarity in rental cabins. The deck was great to watch all the birds and squirrels and hear the breeze while having a cold one and munch on a steak. We may very well reserve this one again next summer.

Left on 04/23/2010 for a stay in April 2010
Had a great time. Cabin was comfortable and cozy. It was nice there. Didn't have much snow but the hill in back was not to high to sled and we loved it. We all had a great time. A few things to address: There is a musty smell that once aired out is not to bad. Could use bigger pot(6qt)and a Lg skillet to cook with. The TV in the living room is small but ok. Location is up the hill by Bear Mnt. In heavy snow its a bit far from Snow Summit for us to drive. But not bad. Torn between 3 and 4 stars. Service was fine.

This was a very spacious cabin. The location was wonderful. The kids were able to play outside in the snow or we could walk across the street for sledding. It was very nice. The furniture seemed alittle old and the carpet in the master bedroom was stained. That wasn't nice. We would probably stay there again.

The service was good considering we arrived in the middle of a snow storm there was no power and the roads were all a foot in snow, Four wheel Drive is A MUST for this house if it's going to be snowing. The Zoo and the ski slopes are close to the house. Our Family really enjoyed this home, everything was great. The Only thing that we didn't prepare for was not being able to go to the store, even with four wheel drive we could'nt make it for two days. Just prepare for the unexpected this house is away from the city.

Orange County, CaWhat great fun!
Left on 01/23/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We rented this cabin after scrolling through many on this website as well as others. We liked the recommendations of the others who had stayed and took a chance. And guess what? We LOVED every minute of our stay! There was a perfect little hill out back for our little ones (under age 8) to go sledding. It was so convenient to just dress them up and send them outside to go sledding all day! The cabin was way more spacious than it appears in the photos and our little ones loved the little loft. I think everything was made a little more magical by the fresh blanket of snow we got each of the two nights we were there. The rental company even sent someone to shovel the snow on walkways/porch of the property! Yes, as others mentioned, no locks on the bathroom doors were a little inconvenient and the open glassless "window" in the loft was a little dangerous for the kids. However, all in all, it was a fantastic stay. We're are looking forward to going back to this cabin soon!

this cabin is very well located up in the woodsy area of town. As a dog friedly property it hadvery dated 70's oldddd furniture. But there was enough room for our group of 3 couples. The kitchen was well supplied with pots and pans, beds were comfortable. The tvs were old and didnt work all that well. one woord of caution the doors are like cardboard and noise can be a problem

We stayed at the cabin during the July 4th weekend and had a great experience. The cabin was an excellent setting for our group as we had 2 small children and 5 adults. The San Bernardino Forrest was just steps away and the cabin is located near the end of the road so it dosent get much traffic. The televisions could use some updating but we weren't there to watch tv :) We would stay there again.

Pomona, CANice and quiet seclusion. Great for families!
Left on 03/04/2009 for a stay in February 2009
This place is very well suited for a large family. With enough sleeping area to fit 8-10 people, the house has more than enough room for a weekend get-together. The common area is very spacious includes a player piano (that does need to be tuned, no biggie).
The kitchen is very well equipped and spacious enough for a small handful of cooks at a time. The "bar style" also makes for a nice touch. I would not recommend trying to bake anything though, the oven seems to be VERY underpowered.
The bedrooms are very homey and cozy. All beds were clean and comfortable. The raised bedroom had a nice small office area for the on-the-go businessman (by the way, an unsecured/free WIFI internet connection was available, probably from a nearby house). It also contained many board games for children.
Neither of the bathrooms had working locks, so for those paranoid about using the bathroom may want to bring a door sign of some sort.
The garage can actually fit two cars, but its a very tight fit, and i'd recommend two compact cars. Otherwise, only one full-size car. The driveway can fit 2 cars easily. There is only one other house neighboring Colbert Cabin. The other side and the back is literally the National Forest and gives a lot of freedom for outdoor snow play.
The neighborhood itself is very quiet, and the road leading to the house is pretty long and secluded. The house can keep fairly loud noise levels sustained.
Quick Warning: in the Dining Area, there is a wooden support beam obstructing the walkway, not too big a deal, but the wood is very old and was giving our guests splinters.
But All-in-all -- a GREAT stay.
PROS: large area, secluded, cozy, well-equipped kitchen, player piano, large living area
CONS: underpowered oven, no bathroom locks, wooden/splintered support beam in dining area. -

Left on 02/03/2009 for a stay in January 2009
We stayed at this cabin for 3 nights. Overall, the place was very clean and had a nice 'home' environment. There was plenty of room for the kids to play. They especially liked the board games available for them at the loft. There was a ravine in the back of the cabin. So we were able to go sledding there without having to leave the premises. There was also and area for the kids to play with and even make a snowman. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Colbert cabin and will recommend this place to our friends.

My friends and I decided to take a weekend getaway to the snow. After weeks of searching for the perfect cabin, we stumbled across Colbert's Cabin. The pictures do not describe how wonderful this home is. As soon as you walk in the door, you can feel the comfort and love that has taken place. It is close to everything, and stocked with all the necessities needed for a group. I will DEFINITELY stay again. Also, the home is much bigger then what the pictures show. It was absolutely PERFECT! Thank you so much for such a great experience!

This cabin suited our needs very well for 3 adults, one teenage boy, and two teenage girls. The girls (two teens and one adult) enjoyed the loft. Plenty of space to spread out in the living room/great room. Kitchen was well-equiped. Moonridge location is close to Bear Mountain and Snow Summitt. It can be hard to find the first time as "Sand Canyon" takes quite a few turns.
