Los Angeles, CaliforniaStunning!

We didn't have a lot to spend on a family vacation this year. So after searching online, we found this lakeview lodge. What a pleasant surprise! Everything was so clean, fresh and new. The cabin was so cozy and the kids loved running around on the grounds. The views are amazing. Our stay was so peaceful and quiet. Just what we needed for a great family getaway for a few days. It was so nice to find a place that was clean, comfortable, and fresh. Just what you would want when getting out to the great outdoors! A must stay. We will definitely come back.

This place is walking distance to the heart of town. Once we got there we didn't need our car agin the whole vacation. The cabins are recently refurbished, there is a great view of the lake, there is Wi-Fi in every room, it was clean, there was a large patio area with a BBQ so we didn't have to go to a restaurant every day. The jacuzzi inside each cabin was awesome after a long day of biking trails. The manager was friendly, we already booked the place for next year and I might just go back up on my own during ski season! I highly recommend staying at the Lakeview Lodge #979 !

"The Gang"
PalmdaleA great place for a large group to share.
Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011
Check in and check out was quick and easy. We liked the set up and location of Lakeview Lodge. The central deck was perfect for socializing, cooking and eating. The deck furniture could have used some cleaning and broken chairs should have been removed and thrown away before we arrived. The cabins were clean enough, everyone in the group enjoyed the jacuzzi tubs and fireplaces. In some cabins the water temp could have been set a little higher, not enough hot water for the size of the tubs. The towels and bed linens need to be retired and replaced. They were worn out, had stains and holes in blankets. The biggest problem we had was that we could not use Cabin F. The cabin had a major bad smell issue. We tried opening the door and windows, air freshener, candles and a fan. Nothing helped, we did advise Big Bear Vacations of the problem when we checked out and were told they would check on the cabin. We don't know what created the horrible smell, but it made the cabin inhabitable. Thankfully we had 7 cabins and really only needed to use 6 of them. Should we have gotten some kind of refund or credit for not being able to use Cabin F? It disappointed us that nothing was offered. If the owner spent a few thousand dollars on the Lodge for minor maintenance issues (towel racks, shower curtains, broken screens, new linens, new coffee pots & mirowaves, etc.) the Lake View Lodge would be a lot better. A little upkeep and care would bring guests back for years to come. Overall our entire group enjoyed our get together at the lodge.

This is our third year at Lakeview Lodge. We already booked again for next year.
Everyone was so polite and accommodating. The lift tickets were a surprise bonus. We had a great time.
The best feature for our group is the deck where we all eat together and hold our meetings. The view is beautiful. And we get our own personal space in the cabins. Very nice!
I have recommended this place to several people already.
See you next year! -

Left on 07/31/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This could have been a nice place to stay had the individual cabins been kept up to the standards that a normal person would have expected. The dishes and glassware in the individual cabins are amazingly nonexistent. Most adults in our group went out and bought wine glasses and coffee cups. What is there looks like leftover junk from a yard sale. Towels in the cabins were old and stained. Carpets were not clean. Bed linens were old and cheap. The central "G" cabin that was used for cooking (the only stove in the cluster of cabins?) definitely disappointed. The stovetop exhaust fan did not work. Glassware in some cases was dirty. Forget trying to put together a meal without going out and buying some pots, pans, implements, like a collander, and maybe a big bowl for a salad. To find a group of cabins so poorly equipped makes me think that the owner of this property only cares about the money he makes off rentals...nothing more. Why should I feel otherwise?

DIRM Family Reunion
Beaumont, CAA wonderful location for a family reunion!
Left on 07/30/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We purposely booked this place for the weekdays to avoid Big Bear weekend traffic. We were not disappointed. It was a nice quiet week. We loved the Lakeview Lodge because of the large deck which is centrally located to the 7 separate units. It was nice to gather on the deck for meals, etc., but still have our own space for privacy and quiet. The units were all pretty clean and comfortable. Most of them were sadly lacking in tableware. We went to the Dollar Tree in town and bought coffee mugs and drinking glasses and left them in the cupboards for the next guests! The location of Lakeview affords easy walking access to the Village and the lake. We also took several hikes, ranging from very easy to difficult. Overall, we loved our stay and will consider booking the Lakeview Lodge for another vacation.

We had a great time. We would like to have a more remote location next time. There was a dog on site, with the owner that was distracting. There was no extra rolls of toilet paper in any of the rooms. Our group was directed to the swim beach by the office staff, without letting us know that it cost $5 per person. The lodge beach was too busy and crowded to enjoy the lake. Otherwise the staff was very helpful in answering questions.

ArizonaWe loved having individual condos for the cost of it.
Left on 08/01/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Lakeview Lodge was a great place to hold a family reunion because we each had our own condo and the price was reasonable. We were disappointed in the condition of the condos. Simple, cheap repairs could make these condos so much better. Sink faucet = $30, window screen = $20, pillowcases = $2, New bedspread since an old one has a blood stain from who knows how long ago= $25, Common dishes (mixing bowl, spatula) = $1/each at Dollar Store. These simple, easy repairs/replacements can change the feel from a Motel 6 to a Quality Inn. In order to use the patio chairs and tables, we had to purchase a product at the store to wash the sap off with. It was clear the sap had not been washed off for a long time. When one family used the jets in a tub, black junk came shooting out. If you can't get the jets clean, just leave a note not to use them. Overall, we were just thankful to find a place that accommodated our group of 30 in such a beautiful town. Its just a shame to see how some cheap, easy changes could allow renters to feel more comfortable, yet those changes are not made. I would rent this property again for my extended family, but I am certain the group we brought with us were not satisfied and comfortable and would not stay here again.
Response from Big Bear Vacations - 10/27/2010

Thank for responding to our survey. We will work with the owner to start some upgrading in these units. They are our least expensive location but upgrades would be much more guest accomodating.

Left on 08/02/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Our family of 25 rented the lodge for 5 days. We had a wonderful time. The separate units allowed each family its privacy. The central deck was a great way for the family to gather together outside with beautiful surroundings. We felt like an "island" in a super location. It was very peaceful and felt very safe. The refrigerators were perfect sizes to hold our food. We all enjoyed our stay and would return again.

We had 23 family memebers for Christmas 2008, We had view the property before in Sept, a few proplems occured, the forced air heating was not available but they did have floor board heating which was not enough, but I will say it was very cold, they did provide space heaters, but not in every cabin, we were told we could go and buy some more and they would remiberse us, they do have fire places which helped, some of the lights did not work just need bulbs, they were not really clean well enough, the driveway was not graded enough had problems getting up to the cabins, most of the keys or locks do not work propertly need to be rekeyed, and labled better. These are little problems so all in all we had a good time, the check in and out was efficent and friendly. We had never done this before and next time we will find out more info before we rent again.

Thank you for your response to Unit 979, Lake View Lodge. We have verified the ammenities on the web do not state "Central Heating". This unit has 7 different units that can be rented as 1 big complex. It is very close to the Village. There are baseboard heaters in the bedrooms of the units plus space heaters. We will test all the guest keys to see if something needs to be changed or repaired. Again, thank you for your response to our survey. Please come and stay with again.

There are 32 people in our group, and everyone is very impressive the cleanness, location of the property (walking distance to the Village), convenience and functional of the cabins connected to each other. I can’t ask anything else for more. Except some of the jetted tubes are not working properly, and there is only one kitchen to cook food for big group of guest is not quite sufficient. But it really is a great place for group gathering, relax, great view and perfect atmosphere. We all have a great time.

This is an excellent location for a large group. The deck area has a breathtaking view of the village area and the lake. There are lots of stairs to climb but the units provide enough privacy for families or couples.
