Left on 01/25/2012 for a stay in January 2012
I don't get why owners of cabins don't put just a little more into their cabins if they are charging $200 a night for a studio cabin! Example: the bedspread was at least 10 years old and was worn through. The mattress was in even worse shape, and the throw pillows were so gross they made me want to throw them out the window,
I do not understand why you can't invest $200 and get a new mattress and maybe another $100 on some new bedding and pillows from Target or Ross or Ikea. These are all places in and around Big Bear. It's just plain lazy. And believe me, I am not rich or snobby, I have a tiny apartment myself, but I would not let anyone Who stayed with me use bedding so worn out and shabby. There are just too many cheap options for any excuses.
Oh, and we were excited to go in our little hot tub until we found a condom wrapper near the deck. Glad people are being safe, but gross!!!Response from Big Bear Vacations - 04/28/2012

The Day Dreamin House was dark and dirty. The mattress was like sleeping on a concrete slab with metal coils. The pillows were flat and a brownish color. The open up coach was not suitable for sleeping or sitting. Felt like you needed to shower upon entry. Immediately asked for another cabin.
Additionally, the neighborhood was not very nice - broken beer bottles littered the street. I recommend you avoid this unit.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 04/28/2012

Our over all stay was amazing, very relaxing and very needed. This cabin was very small inviting and warm, although a little Disapointed to see no holiday decorations for Christmas our stay was great and relaxing. We Recieved great services from the 'Dine-n-dash' delivery services as they were very prompt and professional and worked on Christmas day to bring my newborn daughter formula. We loved the personal spa located on the balcony/porch and the location was perfect. It was excluded yet close to town. The kitchen was not practical for use yet understandable, although the shower was very uncomfortable to use. Thank you

This place was horrible. The hot tube was slimy, smelly and have this floating in it. One of the bar stool started coming part as I sat on it. The bed made my back hurt and the pillows were so flat they were useless. The extra fees make a "guest" feel like they can't touch or do anything in the cabin. The windows were not secured, even though a guest can be charged for this very reason. The trash sites are only on the ends of town, so unless you want to drive out of town everyday or store your trash don't make too much trash. The office is terrible at returning calls until it is too late to fix your problem. I would never use this rental service again. A total fail.

I had a Living Social deal so this little cabin worked out to less than sixty a night. At that price it was a decent value. At full price, though, it's overpriced. It's essentially the size of a hotel room with kitchenette.
The place is nice, though, for what it is. Rustic feel; clean; everything in working order except for one broken stool; west of the village so the whole lake area is very easily accessible. The west-facing deck is especially nice if you're in at sundown. -

If you are looking for a place to get away from it all...big box stores, traffic, stressful living...then this is the place for you! Everyone was extremely gracious and there is an old world charm to this place. If you have ever been "down south," it has that southern comfort feel to it. I highly recommend!

I researched the internet for the best deals. I had never been in Big Bear I really did not know what to expect. I choice your cabin, 200.00 per night, in that it was a special occasion and I wanted something nicer. To say the least I was disappointed. The cabin was OK but the jacuzzi was in the front porch, the bed on wheels, and there were added charges in a form of threat if furniture was moved, take out own trash, etc. Drvg around found nicer and half the price. If I had been with buddies it would of been OK

Left on 08/17/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My stay in this location was amazing. I would have liked it to be more inside of the woods but the size of the room and the jacuzzi really made up for it. Because it was raining the weekend of my stay with my partner we spent a lot of our time in the shopping area, which was conveniently a short drive away.
My only complaint was that after a long drive and arriving during after hours check in, I went to open the door but as soon as I turned the key the key twisted like butter. When I pulled the key out you can tell that it was new but but made with cheap material. Once I called the emergency number, the teenager that answered, after calling many times with no answer, told me that he was sleeping and it would take 45 min for him to get ready and get to the cabin. We waited almost 2 hours for him to get to where we were at. It did give us an opportunity to enjoy a late night dip in the jacuzzi but after waiting 1 hour it was just annoying. The price you pay when you have a teenager in charge of the emergency calls. -

The size of the cabin was okay.
The bed was hard and very uncomfortable.
The shower drain was very slow. The tile in the shower was very dirty looking.
We felt the photo on the website was deceptive and hid the fact that the smaller house was nestled in front of and on the same property as the larger house. We were told that the cabin had chairs to sit on for the front porch, but it did not. There were see through curtains beside the master bed. We had to put a towel up to the window to make sure no one could see us in the evening. The T.V. directions were unclear and confusing.
We very much enjoyed Big Bear Lake, and all of its amenities. -

My boyfriend and I love to bring all our own food and drinks. We BBQ everyday, and sat in the jacuzzi drinking wine at night. Would have liked a littl emore privacy since the BBQ/deck/jacuzzi face the street. Overall, we got a great deal, and were even so close to the lake & town we walked everywhere. It was 75 degrees and sunny and the next day actually snowed! Get firewood and build a romantic fire inside. Just a tip bring all your supplies (coal/firwood) inside at night or if you leave during the day..somebody stole are charcoal off the deck one day. This was the cleanest and most well put together cabin we have stayed in! Flipkey!

The cabin was cute and perfectly fine for our one night sleepover. There was a nice fireplace and great hotwater in the shower. The 2 man hot tub was also very relaxing after the long day. My 2 kids were wishing there was a ladder to the loft but our sleeping accommodations were fine. Quiet neighborhood and close to all.

Day Dreamin - #867
The cabin was nice kept and very clean when we arrived. There was plenty of towels and kitchen utilities to use - thank you. The place is couzi and a great place for a young couple like us.
Only two issues:
1. The bed and its mattress need to be replaced. Very uncomfortable, and squeaks all night as you move.
2. Tv - I think its time you guys move to a larger LCD or Flat screen TV (not expensive at all). If you couple is staying in and brought DVD movies to watch, we would have really enjoyed out stay better with a larger TV.
Besides these to items, everything was great.
Thank you and will definitely be using your services again.

My boyfriend and I came to Big Bear to snowboard and stayed at the Day Dreamin' cabin. It was very cute on the outside, and located in a very quiet neighborhood, which we enjoyed. The inside was cute, but old. The comforter on the bed looked like it was from a Motel 6 about 20 years ago. The bed itself was so uncomfortable, you could feel the springs. The cabin had hardwood floors but there was a 1/4 inch layer of dust under the bed, and the overall place did not feel as though it were clean. We opted to sleep in a sleeping bag we brought on top of the bed instead of in the bed itself.
We did like the kitchen so we could cook our own meals. Everything worked fine, except when I was doing dishes I noticed the sink was leaking all over the floor. We called the office and they sent someone over to fix it, albeit an hour later.
There was a cute 2 person hot tub on the front deck, but there was a chain across it - you needed a key to open it. We were not given a key upon check-in. We called the office, and said we could pick up a key. We picked one up and later that night when we wanted to go in the jacuzzi we discovered the key didn't work. We were unable to use the hot tub. Upon check-out I told the lady at the desk the key didn't work - no apology or anything.
Overall, we were not impressed with our stay and would not stay here again. -

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay here with my husband and my son. It was the perfect size for a family of 3. we had fun in the hot-tub and barbequed. There were just a couple things that could have been better. When we got to the cabin (after the 3PM checkin time) it had not been cleaned yet, even though the lady that checked us in said it was ready. We had to call to ask for someone to bring us new towels and sheets. It wasn't extremely dirty, so that wasn't a big deal. Also, the people staying in the bigger part of the house had loud music and were partying, so we didn't really have any privacy out on the deck or in the hot tub and we could hear them from inside our cabin. But this was more of a nusance than a big problem, so overall our stay was a nice chance to relax and get away for the weekend.

My boyfriend and I rented this cabin in the middle of the week during late January. There were hardly any people around, so the cabin felt private and secluded. However, this cabin is actually a guesthouse, which we were unaware of. Luckily, we only had to deal with people in the main cabin for one night. You can easily hear any voices and footsteps. However, once they left, our cabin was very quiet.
The cabin is small but cozy for two people. We enjoyed the spa, the fireplace, and making dinner in the little kitchen. It was wonderful, and there are only a couple things that made this stay difficult.
1. The bed rolls. Once my pillow fell behind the bed, which woke me up.
2. The curtains are sheer. At night you feel like you have no privacy, and in the morning the sun shines straight on you at about 5:30 or 6! (I am not a morning person).
3. The comforter is very thin. Luckily, we brought our own comforter and blankets.
Other than these small complaints, we had a great time at the cabin. We would stay here again.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 02/01/2011
Manager
Thank you for responding to our survey. we are glad you had a good time while in Big Bear. There was a new floor placed in this unit. We will make sure the bed does not roll. We definietly have to take some of the blame for our mishaps... It was snowing when we arrived. We picked up our keys and headed to the house. When we got there, the driveway was not plowed and we (stupidly) drove over the berm and got stuck. We went inside to find a shovel and couldn't find one, so called the front office and they drove one out to us in about 10 minutes. My husband then spent the next hour shoveling out the car, while I started to unload the car. I couldn't help shovel, as I had our 10 month old strapped to my chest... Anyway, I slammed the door shut to keep the heat in and, wouldn't you know it... The door automatically locks. So now, I'm stuck outside with the baby, and my angry shoveling husband... I called the front desk and she said she'd send one out. 45 minutes passed, and the car finally was shoveled out so we drove back to the front desk to pick up a key. The maintenance man showed up when we got back with the key (over an hour later.)
So that first part was totally our fault. The dirty bed comforter, uncomfortable bed and futon and lack of any cooking supplies (ie paper towels, cooking oil) could have been improved on. The hot tub was cool, but we wished we could have had extra towels for that, not just the bath towels. Also it was a little awkward when the guests in the big house are walking.
All in all, the location was nice and we had a good time, but we wouldn't stay here again.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 02/01/2011

Thank you for your response to our survey. Getting stuck in the snow is no fun--We are sorry this happened to you. The heater for this house is right by the front door and somethines the pilot gets blosn our when the door is opened/closed The heater does work well. the key has also been changed for this unit but if the knob lock on the inside is turned in the lock position the door will lock behind you. We are sorry there was a dirty bed comfortor. all the linens have been cleaned.

This place is the perfect little cabin for 2 or 3 people...the hot tub was nice, the kitchen and fireplace made for a perfect stay. My and my best friend were very satisfied with it. The only thing we didn't like was the jacuzzi was over chlorinated and so we left the chlorine stick out for the next night..and the bed was pretty squeaky and rolled a little, but was still comfortable. I would definitely stay here again though!

We generally enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was very peaceful, nice patio, nice 2-person hot tub, generally clean but not completely. The kitchenette was nice but missing some basics like paper towels and salt and pepper. The comforter was like a leftover from a hotel 6 in 1982, so we bought a nice quilt for the bed that makes the cabin feel more homey. Overall we liked this property and would consider staying again.

That's exactly what we got in this cabin, it was perfect for the two of us and even though we were close to everything being that far back from the road made it feel like it was just us. It was so easy to get to everything from renting a boat for the day to going hiking for a few hours to a nice dinner. Everything was so easy to get to we loved it and will deffinantly be back.

Left on 05/26/2010 for a stay in May 2010
My husband and I just celebrated our 17th anniversary at this adorable little cabin. The jacuzzi tub was perfect at night as we stargazed and relaxed! The cabin has everything you need for a two person stay. There was a freak spring storm that created quite a snow storm, so we had to leave early to get off the mountain! I would have loved to had stayed through the afternoon. Big Bear is a beautiful town, with nice people!
Oh forgot to mention...key was a bit tricky to use...lock and keys should probably be replaced. -

L loved this cabin, the key to the front door needed to be replaced but other than that this cabin is great for two. The Village wasnt so much in walking distence like the descriptin says, but it is really close. A lot of shops and if I would recomend somewhere to eat it would have to be Grizly Manor, a little place just off Big Bear blvd. on the right side of Denys (get there early or wait 30 min). All in all it was a really great vacation home.

needed and was close to everything! Thank you so much for making our first trip to

The cabin was cozy but in bad need of updating and maintenance.
1. The loft which in accessable, someone left the light on which at night ligted the entire cabin. After trying to sleep for several hours, the wife practiced here gymnastic skills and turned it off.
2. The toilet never stopped running forcing us to turn it off and on when we needed to use it. (This was mentioned in the house log for over a year.
3. The bed was very uncomfortable, even more than the cheapest hotel
4. I cant remember the last time I have seen a 13" TV. This should be updated and located in a more convienient place.
5. The couch/hide-a-bed was stained and ripped.
The weekend was beautiful with lots of falling snow and if It was not for me being with my wife to make this a wonderful weekend I would have been upset.
For the cost of the cabin I recommend you look at another one until this one has been outdated. -

LA, CAGreat little getaway!
Left on 01/21/2010 for a stay in December 2009
This place was perfect for us as a couple looking for a romantic getaway. The place was clean and quaintly decorated with a nice kitchen and bathroom. Located on a very quiet residential street off the main drag, it was centrally located to everything in the area. The private outdoor hot tub was a definite plus. Bring your own paper towels. If your going for the best TV experience, this isn't the place for you, as the TV is small and older. But why would you care if your going for romance and to experience Big Bear! I would definitely stay at this place again.

When we checked in at Big Bear Vacations it was a warm pleasant welcome. The cabin was nice, it had all of the kitchen utensils that I needed and seemed to be well kept. It was close to everything which was nice and very convenient. The bed was horrible. when I looked at the cabin online there were so many complaints about the bed I figured it would no longer be a problem but I was wrong. There was also no privacy with the curtains. At one point during the late night the sensor light outside went on and someone was walking briskly out from the cabin area which was very creepy and the reason we did not use the spa. The heater ran constantly and it was so hot and stuffy it was unbearable. we did not get to enjoy a log fire because of the heater. there was a sign saying not to touch the thermostat. All though the overall look of the cabin was nice we would not rent this cabin again. sorry!!

Not a single unit, small and needs to be updated. There was dog feces on the front lawn. Check out was changed from 11AM to 10AM upon checking in. Customer service was not up to par. Will not rent from here again.

The place was great!! lots of room and comfy. The only 2 (two)problems was that the T.V only had 6 (six) channels, and no wireless internet. the booklet given to us, by Big Bear Vacations had lots of info on places to go, and see, however, it gave internet sites, which we couldn't access.
House had most comforts of home. Loved our Vacation!!!! -

Glendale, CARomantic, but the sliding doors need blinds!!!
Left on 12/09/2009 for a stay in December 2009
It was cozy, in a quite neighborhood, and had all the amentities needed for a couple nights stay for 2 and a small dog. We really enjoyed watching it snow in the hottub on the porch! For future guests, we do have a few recommendations:
1. Add blinds to the sliding doors in the front. The people staying in California Dreamin next to Day Dreamin were constantly all night (till 4:30AM) walking up and down the stairs going to their cars, etc. and the motion lights would shine directly through the flimsy curtains shading the glass sliding doors and in our faces while we were trying to sleep.
2. The refrigerator doesn't get cold enough even on the highest setting.
3. The shower does back up with the hair trapper in the drain. We removed it while we were there and it worked fine afterwords.
4. The furnishings and TV/Audio system could be updated, but the items that are there are functionable.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 01/09/2010

Due to the high elevation refridgerators perfomr better at medium setting. Setting refridgerator to high setting can even cause issues with the compressor and prevent cold air flow from the freezer section. Issues with maintenance such as the hair trapper can be resolved with one call to our main office. Furnishings and blinds are up to owners of the private cabins. Big Bear Vacations reviews these issues with property managers for proper care with handling property owner items.

My husband and I loved the location (very close to the village) and enjoyed the 2-person jacuzzi. The cabin, as quaint as it was, needed some updating however. The furniture was outdated & in need of repair. This was our 5th year renting cabins in Big Bear. Since this was one of the more expensive rentals, our expectations were higher, and unfortunately not fulfilled. If one wants to be competitive, s/he needs to fix the broken furniture, update the refrigerator (it was small and didn't get very cold.) Also, it should be mentioned that the rental has wi-fi service and a hot tub. There are luxuries that should be emphasized. With a little work, this place could easily be worth every penny.

Left on 07/22/2009 for a stay in July 2009
I would definately stay in this cabin again! It was convenient, clean, and ultra-accomodating. It has everything you need to cook, relax, and romance and it's super-close to the village and the lake. It is actually a guest house to another house so we were constantly seeing the other family as they went back and forth, but they were nice so it was no problem :) Take some DVDs and CDs- they have both players there. (I accidentally left my Foo Fighters CD in the player, enjoy!) Big Bear Vacations provides great service too- I had to call them for assistance with the spa and they were super-friendly and helpful. I love Big Bear and we will be back!

Mission Viejo, CA"Cozy little place"
Left on 06/11/2009 for a stay in May 2009
My wife and I came up for the weekend (1 night rental). We really thought the place was well kept and very cozy. After an afternoon of lunch and cocktails, it was great to come back to the place and jump in the jacuzzi on the front deck. It's perfect (only) for 2 people. After that, we wanted to get a fire going in the wood burning fireplace/stove, but realized there was no firewood. Luckily, there's a market right across the street on the main road, so it was no problem. I suggest bringing a little firewood with you. The kitchen had everything that we needed, the bed was comfortable, and the place and neighborhood was very quiet. The only problem we encountered was the standing water in the shower...the drain must have been clogged or something....nothing that a little Drano can't fix. Other than that, the place was perfect. We will definitely be back for at least 2 nights next time.

San Diego, CAWarm...but that's it
Left on 01/12/2009 for a stay in January 2009
This home was not what we expected. Although the heater worked well and kept us warm, there were other issues that were very disappointing to us. First, the bed was not comfortable at all, and my husband and I had trouble sleeping each night. One pillow was pokey with feathers coming out of it, and the other was paper thin. The mattress was too hard. Also, the first morning, my husband took a warm 15 minute shower and then I was left with a freezing cold shower after that. There was not enough hot water for showering! If you are trying to sleep three, it will be crowded. This place it literally one room. The blinds were broken on the kitchen window, and there really weren't many decorations as described in the blurb online. Overall, it served its purposes, but not without some discomfort. I would not recommend this cabin mostly because of the uncomfortable bed and the cold showers.

Absolutely loved this little cottage, perfect for 2 people. It has everything, and is in a very quiet location.
The bed desperately needs a new Mattress though.
It was great that we were able to bring our dog, this was her first time in the snow, she enjoyed it as much as we did.
Would definitely love to come back and rent this place again. -

My wife and I stayed in this cabin about a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed it. The only thing that we recommend for the cabin is a newer bed as the one we slept in was quite uncofortable. Other than that the cabin had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin and will definitely plan to stay there again in the future.

My girlfriend and I had the best time in Big Bear. I really enjoyed the fact that it was home away from home. I thought that it was a good experience for the both of us being that it was are first time.
We have no complaints about the trip. The cabin was easy to find and they have everything you need for the weekend even though i could not resist the IHOP, which had excellent service.

San Diego, CAWeekend Stay at #867
Left on 10/20/2008 for a stay in October 2008
We stayed at this cabin and it was very nice. We had everything that we needed for the weekend. The bathroom was clean. Owner needs to replace the microwave though, since it was very old and hardly able to heat up anything. The only one stool provided in the room was not very safe for little kids, since it was very flimsy. Everything else in the room was good. Nice little cabin.
We did not have good experience with the rental office since they gave us the wrong key at check-in, and made us wait for an extra hour outside of the cabin while they bring us a new key. It was cold and dark.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 10/28/2008

Thank you for your response to our survey on Day Dreamin' Unit 867. We are so sorry the wrong keys were given to you and you had to wait. We will look at the microwave and stool to see if they are ok. Again, thank you for your response to our survey. It will help us provide better future service.

This is a studio like rental cabin, it's fully equiped with oven, stove, refrigerator, blnder, toaster, pot & pan, knife, silver wear, cups, dcd/vd player, tv...etc.. very very nice and clean. Strongly recommend for couple who wants to get a little vacation by themselves.
Staff are friendly and helpful. The office is about 5 mins drive from the cabin. The village is about 5-8 mins drive, the lake is within walking distance, and a small public pool and spa is available next to the lake.
My bf and I will definitely go back again.
