The service was very good. The home was nice. Yet the pillows need to be replaced they had yucky nasty stains and the sheets and blankets had a bad odor. Good thing I brought my own but not enough. Everything else was ok. I enjoyed my stay though.

PasadenaGreat cabin
Left on 09/21/2011 for a stay in September 2011
After reading all the reviews, I was not sure what to expect about this cabin.
When we arrived, we found a cabin in the middle of a pine forest, very quiet, and also close to the chair lifts. It was much bigger than what I expected.
There are 2 bedrooms on the fist floor, a big one with a California King bed and the second with a full size bed and 2 pullout beds.
Then on the second floor, a huge living room was waiting for us and a very nice kitchen.
Ok, it is not very modern decor, but it looks like a cabin, my family and I were very happy with the cabin. It has a "mountain" design, not a city class!
Unfortunately, as many other said, it was dirty. Well I should say the floors were dirty, like nobody had used the vacuum cleaner before our arrival.
The kitchen bench and sink were clean, as well as
the bathroom sink.
Also, there was almost no gaz left in the gaz BBQ. We were just able to use it two times.
Finally, the phones were not working.
And be ready: BigBearVacations says they provide us with a "starter kit", here it is: a sample of coffee, sugar, just enough to make coffee for one person! We find a bottle of oil and some salt and pepper. That was it.
And there is no cleaning products at all.
So when we arrived, we had to go shopping and get some dish soap, the basic ingredients to survive, etc...
We like the cabin but we didn't like the service coming with it (phones not working, no gaz in BBQ, dirty floors, no dish soap). We told BigBearVacations and they apologized, saying it shouldn't have happened but obviously it happens every time considering all the reviews so they know about it and just lied to us. They said we should have called and they would have sent a cleaning team, as well as changed the gaz bottle, but how could we call them when the phones are not working and there is no cell phone reception?
If I knew they would fix the problems, I would go back there.

The cabin was great it was my first time to big bear so didn't know what to expect. It would be nice if there was more of a beach area. Renting a pontoon is def the way to go when up there. But overall it was a lot of fun and super busy... Labor day weekend

Redlands, CaliforniaCould have been much better!
Left on 08/05/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Cons: Many many stairs, three flights, difficult for us to navigate. The bed was extremely old and uncomfortable, no sleep for us! Bedding was very old and nasty, quite frankly. The shower head is horrendous, really terrible, and needs to be replaced right away. An old dust-covered fake ficus in the corner of the bedroom, awful. Vent in ceiling hangs open above the bed. All the lamps were unplugged and near impossible to plug in due to their locations. Remote controls for TVs were switched from upstairs to downstairs, had to figure out what went where. We had to call for help in getting the telephone to work, we had no cell phone access there.
Pros: The kitchen is spacious and plenty of cupboard space. Deck off the living room is wonderful, view of sunset is wonderful. All appliances worked well.
We had a coupon so we used this service for cabin rental. I do believe I would rather pay full price, as we have done in the past, and have a pleasant experience. This was such a devastating disappointment to us, two older adults who needed to get away from our very busy lives for some relaxation. Very sad that you would even consider renting this out, it was truly terrible.

It might be just me and I'm picky but I was a little disappointed in the house we stayed in. I noticed a few dead bugs and spider webs in the house. The carpet was stained alot. I know it is in the woods and it's a ski resort area so those things are expected. I guess my disappointment really equates to the cost for 2 nights. Seems very expensive for what we stayed in.
I was however happy with the amount of kitchen supplies. I was even able to make muffins. From reading other reviews, I knew to bring some of my own supplies like paper towels, ketchup, butter, etc. which made it nice. -

Upon arriving we didn't expect much, but it was a very "homely" (sort of speak) cabin. The kids enjoyed the stay and the adults took advantage of the view while cooking bbq on the patio. The cabin is located few minutes from the lake which was convenient and definitely closer to the golf course, which the guys enjoyed.

Left on 03/24/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Great company to deal with...but the cabin could or should have been better. The cabin location was great (walking distance to Bear Mountain). Very quiet location, but that's where it stops!!! The cabin was dirty when we checked in. There were spider webs everywhere. We had to get some cleaning supplies to get it up to par...remind you, this is supposed to be our vacation. Since the bedrooms are on the first floor, and heat rises, it was freezing at nights. Oh speaking of the heating unit, the filter looked like it had never been changed and no air was coming out of the downstairs vents. Last but diffidently not least, it had one shower, which is okay if it worked!!! Don't recommend this cabin for these reasons. If they change/update the problems, it's would have been a great cabin.

During the holidays it can be quite difficult to really clean the nitty gritty spots. New Years is a very busy time indeed for the lodging industry. We do have great housekeeping service and if presented to us, we can go over and clean your cabin at no cost. -

This review is not about the home! This is about the service that Big Bear Vacation booking that home.
Watch out for being ripped off when booking at Big Bear!!!
Big Bear Vacation booked us this home. We drove up at night and the roads were closed. We tried 18-N but it ended the same. We tried to call Big Bear Vacation but nobody answered besides asking me to leave a voicemail.
We had to drive home that night.
We called Big Bear Vacation and they said they couldn't refund the money ($240 total) because we didn't call!?!
Anyway, if you like to go there, make sure you ask somebody about all the roads and which is best (supposed to be 4 roads.. but Big Bear didn't mention about this. They should! What a service)Response from Big Bear Vacations - 01/06/2011

Dear Guest, I sincerly appologize for the confusion in your travels to Big Bear. Recently the CA 330 was closed due to a mud slide on the mountain. Fortunately, CA 38 and CA 18 (through Lucern) have remained open. I do empathize with the frusteration of discovering a road closure after you are already on the road, and appologize that no one was available to direct you from the office. Next time I would like to encourage you to call (909) 866-ROAD and get up to the minute road information from Cal-trans. We strive to serve you in every way possible and hope you will return to enjoy the cabins we have to offer. Big Bear is an all seasons resort, and we would like you to come up again when the winter weather is not going to cause road closures to detour you. We also want to thank you for your imput. It is through these reviews that we make strides to improve our customer service. Have a great day! Zaira Bowman Customer Relations Assistant Manager

Cabin was nice and comfortable. Had a great time while there. I would say the only way to improve on this experience at this particular cabin, would be to dust some things better. Noticed a dusty smell that effected our sinuses slightly. Still overall a great time and I would stay here again.

We had a great time here - I like the downstairs bedrooms, especially in the summer - its nice and cool down there! Tons of wild life - our kids fed nuts to squirrels and birdseed to all kinds of birds on the patio - they had a ball. The cabin was comfortable and a good location, small TV, but liked the free phone and wireless. Would definitely stay here again and we're always treated well by the folks at BigBearVacations.com.
Note to owners: Since I gave you 5 stars please do us all a favor and go to Kmart and spend $29 on a set of frying pans - the ones in the cabinet are shot! -

Great Cabin got a home feeling to it. Peaceful neighborhood, quiet, and very relaxful. Grill is great on the upper deck which makes it nicer to cook outside. Area is secluded next to a forest location (MoonRidge). Nearby the lake, grocery markets, and entertainment, 2 thumbs up will come back forsure :).

Left on 07/30/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We've stayed in Moonridge before, but first time in this place. The floorplan was odd with all the bedrooms downstairs but we got used to it. It was a bit warm, no a/C, as is usual in Big Bear, but we opened the windows. Master bedroom was huge. Wi-Fi worked great! Dvd player and TV were ancient, but worked. Kitchen was excellent. Played with squirrels on balcony, that was nice.
Did not get Visa card that was advertised, a little ticked by that. -

Los AngelesGood cabin but bad Big Bear Vacations Sucks!
Left on 07/29/2010 for a stay in June 2010
The cabin was nice and roomy. But it looks like the maintenance and control are poor. Several light bulbs needed replacements and some the kitchen lacked what you needed to clean up (soap, sponges, etc...). When you call the office, they want you to drive over there to pick them up. It is ridiculous. The worse part is that when you reserve and pay on line, it doesnt warn you that the checkout time is 11am, sharp and not one minute late. You have to leave the unit probably by 1030 to drive, wait in line and drop off the keys at the office. Any minute late is charged to your credit card at about $30 per hour. They have these terms nicely layed out in the 10 page contract they want you to sign after you paid but before you check in. At that stage it is too late to back off becuase you are already there. I thought this is ridiculously disingenuous. Finally, they make you sign a blank credit card slip they claim as a protection for damages to the unit. I guess it is fair if they put a dollar amount on it. The problem is that they dont give you back this slip when you check out! The office manager told me they keep it for 90 days as 'evidence'. I didn't buy this argument and I had to cancel my credit card to prevent any misuse. In short, 'Big Bear Vacations' sucks , and I encourage the landlords to find a better management company for their properties because some units are really nice.

Our policies are readily available on our website which clearly states check in time as well as our 11AM check out time. We do not charge the fee that you have stated in your review, so that is an untrue statement..but yes, there are fees for an extension of your stay. We also email you this information at the time of booking and therefore you had it then and could have backed out of the contract. We do have you sign a credit card slip for incidentals and for evidence incase you did a chargeback on it, this way we can show that YOU stopped in OUR office with YOUR credit card and therefore is not fraudelent. It protects us as well as you, and therefore you did not have to cancel your credit card altogether as the information doesn't go anywhere. Thanks!

Left on 01/14/2010 for a stay in January 2010
Weekend kicked off to a great start. The guys at Big Bear Vacations allowed us to check-in an hour early because the house had already been cleaned. The home was reasonably easy to find and in good condition. The upstairs living area was great for sitting around and playing poker, watching movies and enjoying a beer by the fire. The front of the house is currently under construction (building a new set of stairs to enter the porch) but overall the property is enjoyable.

Although the house's front and back porches were under renovation when stayed (19-22Dec2009)there, everything seems great,I really love to rent this house again,,,maybe after they repair the leak that is dripping on the mirrored closet of the 2nd room that also wet the carpet.
My wife really loves the kitchen and the living room is so cozy. Quite expensive though compared to its newly renovated neighbors.

When we arrived at the rental office, we were greeted by a very friendly
employee. All of our questions were answered and we were given directions to
the cabin. The only complaint we had, was that the directions wee not
accurate. A kind couple gave us directions to find Shasta Road.
Everything went well except that the refrigerator was not cold. It took a long
time for it to cool our food and drinks.
Our cellular phones did not work and we did not know the telephone number
to the cabin. We had to place a long distance call to have them read the phone
number back to us.
Otherwise, the rest of the time was nice and relaxing. We really liked the feeder
box for the squirrels. We fed them well, the birds too. -

Don't judge a book by its cover because that's the first thing I did when I saw this house but once you open the door it's the cutest thing ever! Big rooms with enough space and beds. Nice restrooms. Lots of storage for clothes and food. Living room nice and spacious. Awesome kitchen! I didn't expect the kitchen to be so big. The porch was great. Overall it was a great house I would recommend to friends :]
