      Made the vacation!

Left on 02/02/2012 for a stay in January 2012

The cabin was phenomenal for the price we paid. We had an awesome time and we were not limited by anything. Lots of room. One thing to note, the bedroom with the bathroom attached gets very cold at night. Bring an extra blanket or leave the door open with the heater on to keep it warm.

We had a terrific time, snowboarding, going into the village and enjoying each others company. The only complaint is that it was very cold in the cabin, even with the fireplace. Unfortunately, my father-in-law had a massive stroke on 12/26, so we left a day early and he passed away that day.

It's great to see you had such a nice time in Lakeview. Unfortunately it can get a bit chilly here in the National Forest during the winter. We’re sorry to here about your loss, but look forward to help you plan your future vacations here in Big Bear!

      Beautiful location, cabin ok.

Left on 11/09/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The cabin is located on a beautiful location next to the lake. On the other hand even though the cabin was cozzy and had the basic needs available, it could benefit from a small upgrade on the living furniture and heater access to the bathroom. The bathroom was just a few degrees warmer than the outside as the walls have no insulation and the floor is tile. The kitchen and appliances were fine and the beds were comfortable. I would go back if the price was a bit lower or we didnt have to clean, take trash out, and do some minor housekeeping duties,as stated in the contract. I would try some other cabin next time.

      Worst cabin in Big Bear!!!

Left on 08/25/2011 for a stay in August 2011

If you have a baby, this is not the cabin for you. The cabin is way to small if you want to put your baby to bed and then want to make any kind of noise after she's gone to bed. You can hear every step you take or breath you take. We had to whisper because the door had slats on the door that lead to the living room where everyone hangs out. There is also a public bathroom attached to the cabin so you hear everytime someone uses the restroom. If you stay in this cabin in July or august then you better be aware they have a bbq with a band every monday night. This would be great if they didn't set their speakers and drums up right in front of the windows the baby sleeps in. You might ask why not just move the baby to another room? Well sure if there were any other room to set up a portacrib. This is the smallest cabin I have ever rented in Big Bear. The pictures are very deceiving. The only restroom in the cabin is in the "master bedroom" which isn't good if your mother in law is on the trip with you. She ended up having to go outside around to the public restroom so as not to wake up the rest of us. The living room only has a love seat and small chair. With 3 adults and a toddler this is obviously not enough room for all to relax. In order to watch a movie you have to bend you neck in a way that is very uncomfortable even if you move the furniture as far back as possible. My husband is 6 foot so no furniture was comfortable for him. This is not a family friendly cabin!!! Great for young people that dont care about comfort and only want to sleep in between skiing or boating. Now on a good note to Big Bear Vacations, they moved us to another cabin when we complained about the fact the band would be right in front of the window my daughter sleeps in. Thanks for that!!! It made the rest of stay less miserable!

What a cool spot! Really well maintained early 1900's big bear cabin. Everyhing worked, beds were comfy. Shore acres is cool. All/most of the people staying there were nice. Very kid and dog friendly. Lake is right there. Boat dock right there for fishing, hanging or a place to pick people up(we rented a pontoon boat and had a picnic on the lake. 4 stars cuz it was a little small and spendy. Great trip though. Check it out!

      Great Summer Vacaction!

Left on 07/21/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We had a blast at the Shore acre Lodge. We traveled with small children and really had a great time. The swing set and pool are right outside of the cabin. Our kids had a great time and the adults got to fish in the lake located very close to the cabin as well. Can't wait to come back next year!

      Great spot!

Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We had a wonderful vacation at Shore acres in the Lakeview cabin! The cabin was perfect for our family w/ 3 small children and two little dogs. It was relatively clean and renovated/updated. There were some screens missing on the windows but bugs aren't bad so not a big deal. Wish it had a screen door too that would automatically shut because there was so much in and out and we were always worried about the dogs and baby sneaking out. Pool was a little cold but the hot tub was perfect to warm up. Helpful and friendly staff - lots of dogs and kids around so our family had lots of others to play with. It's very close to the lake and also in the middle of a nice area for walking around. We will definitely be back!

Everyone that worked here was very nice and helpful. We came with friends so we had fun. Having table tennis and volleyball net was great. All of our friends cabins had recently been redone and looked very nice. Ours wasn't yet, but looking at theirs it will also be good later. The only bummer was a cold spa. The view was also beautiful as was the weather.

It was pleasant, but not great.

Left on 10/27/2010 for a stay in October 2010

We were originally going to stay in 105, but the heater didn't work. Thank God. It was tiny and dirty. At $125. per night, I would have been very unhappy indeed. We ended up staying in Lakeview, which was much larger and cleaner. I still don't think it was worth $125 per night. We had to ask for coffee for the coffee maker, and in this economy, we expect a better value for our money. We have stayed at Shore acres for years, but it is definitely not kept up the way it used to be. I am sorry to say this, as we have many wonderful memories of staying there. This will probably be our last visit there.

      not impressive

Left on 09/14/2010 for a stay in September 2010

This cabin was not impressive. It was old and dingy. The kitchen had been renovated a little and was fine. The carpet on the floor was filthy. There is very little hot water in the shower. There is a public restroom attached to the very end of one of the bedrooms. No ventilation at all. Not clean. Walked in and walked into a spider web.

I loved the stay, but I didn't love the cabin...

Left on 09/08/2010 for a stay in August 2010

I went to my cabin Lake View late august with my family. My husband and I have 2 kids. One teenager, and one child. I can say I had a good time fishing, it was fun looking at the stars, going to places around the area like the alpine slides, and just being out in the woods is allways fun for the family. But I had some issues with the cabin. The bed comforter was dirty in the master bedroom, the sofas were really dusty and dirty, the shower tiles were dirty and stained, and the worst part was that the shower hardly worked. My family and I stayed up there 5 days, and we wanted to take a shower after we got there. The shower handle was hard to work, and we had to have a matinence man come out and show us how to work the handle. And even when it did work, and it was on full blast, the shower head hardly let out any water. It just hardly drizzled. It took forever to just get your hair wet. And on top of that, the water took like 20 minutes to start warming up. And after the water was at a nice temperature, it would get boiling hot. And you would turn the shower water to cold, and it would barley start cooling down after about 20 minutes. We asked the management if we could use another cabin that was unoxupied to take a shower and they denied our request. And the cabin also had an ant problem, which wasn't a huge deal. But just to let you know, never leave any food out. My stay was Ok, my family enjoyed the stay, despite the issues we had. For what I paid, I would like to have these problems fixed. And would I recomend the stay? Well, I wouldn't recomend Lake View, but I would recomend other cabins. We have stayed at Big Bear rentals before, just different cabins. The other stays were 5 star, but this one wasn't that great. And I would make sure the bed comforter was stained and tainted with... you can imagine what. However, my family enjoyed our stay, and we will come back, but just to a different cabin we have stayed at before.

      Respectfully,
      Betty

We're very glad to hear that you overall had a great stay with us. We are very sorry for the confusion with the shower controls, and water pressure. Our Shore Acres Lodge is and has been one of our most popular properties since the 1950's to today. Shore Acres Lodge was actually established in 1907 and since then has under went a lot of upgrading and has been architecturally re-designed to accommodate the naturally evolved sophistication of today’s technology. Hence certain attributes such as plumbing are difficult to modernize. We have however fully redecorated the entire bathroom and kitchen of our Lakeview #104 to help project the value and accommodations of our guests stay.
Big Bear Vacations not only believes in the quality of the properties we offer, but also the satisfaction of our guests vacations with us.

      Nice little cottage

Left on 01/14/2010 for a stay in December 2009

      The cottage was cozy...

It is very close to the lake, great for a morning walk. The place vas very clean and well furnished.

...But the bathroom froze up and we could'nt use the toilet to flush. The only other issue was that the kitchen stove had no exhaust chimney, so when you cook it gets hot and smokey in the house realy quick.

Other than that, good location, great price.
