Booking and check in were great. The discription and pictures of the rental really differed from what we ended up with. The rental was an older house. Nothing updated. The outside and front of the house makes it looks really nice but when you walk inside, it's nothing but older carpet, walls, artwork, furniture. The only updated features was a 37" LCD tv.
Location was kind of in the middle of nowwhere. A little hard to find at first. Lots of turns. Overall, Not bad location. I wouldn't recommend walking to Bear Mountain. A short drive would probably get you there.
We enjoyed that it was a big house. It had 6 bedrooms. All with queen beds. No doubles. The kitchen was huge. plenty of room for big families. The deck was a great bonus too. If it snows, it would be a great area for kids to play on.
The rental was somewhat "cheap". Probably beacause it was older. I believe it was originally rated as a 3 star. I would say more of a 2 maybe a 2 1/2..Next year, we will most likely go somewhere else..

Nice for large group! Sledding right off back deck! Checking in was easy but then had to wait for over an hour for maids to clean. Finally was able to go in house around 7:00 p.m. Driveway was covered in snow and ice! Vehicles sliding down driveway after being parked. Rental company did have someone come out to spread cinders but ice was to thick!!! We ended up shoveling driveway for 2 days til clear enough so vehicles wouldn't slide.

Thank you so much for your feedback on Wodehouse. Unfortunately, it is common during the winter here in the San Bernardino National Forest to experience difficulties with ice and snow since temperatures are frequently below freezing. It is however, excellent to know you had a great stay in spite of the difficulties you experienced during your stay, which we do apologize for. Thank you again for the review, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you again.

We enjoyed getting away with kids and grandchildren. We wanted to come when it was cooler but one of the problems we encountered with that is that one of the front facing bedrooms only have small lace curtains which do not keep the cold out nor give any privacy. We had to put blankets up. The bed in the master seems a bit worn and lumpy. It was nice to back up to the forest as the grandchildren enjoyed exploring with their parents. The upstairs kitchen and family room area is great for family to interact together. Nice fireplace as well. Overall we had a great time.

We came up here to celebrate a friends bachelor party. Everything was fantastic and everybody loved the cabin. There was plenty of space for everyone with all of the beds. Being able to grill and feel out in the woods at the same time really brought everything together. Several of us are already planning second trips up to Big Bear. Thank you.

We had a great time, everything was as described. The house did seem like it needed a good spring cleaning. Some of our group had problems with allergies.
The backyard snow hill was literally off the porch. Awesome!
We are thinking of booking it for our next group adventure!! -

Our family loves the Wodehouse cabin. We always enjoy ourselves at the cabin. We love the lay out of the cabin and feel at home there. The view from the back deck is beautiful. We also love sledding in the back yard and walking around the neighborhood. We feel truly relaxed there. We could not ask for a better place to be.

Left on 01/06/2011 for a stay in December 2010
This was a great place to stay. The family room with kitchen was perfect for all of us to just hang out. I think the best feature of the house was the huge sloping backyard, the kids had a blast sledding and having snowball fights. After reviewing countless other houses, everybody agreed that in the end this was the perfect house for a perfect vacation. It simply couldn't get any better than this.

This house was everything we expected and more. The house is very big and love the main area for family to get together. The kitchen is big and opens up to dining room and living room. It has a large tv we used to watch movies at night. The best part was that we didn't have to leave the house to take the kids sledding. You just have to walk out to your backyard and there were large hills covered in snow for plenty of fun. We had a large group and there was plenty of space for all of us to be very comfortable. We did have a difficult time going up to the house and leaving the house due to snow so I suggest bringing chains for tires. Also we couldn't find a vacuum anywhere in the house. We would have like it for the living room where we spent most of our time. Other than that we loved this house and cant wait to return.

This cabin was really worth the money. It was so huge with the 7 bedrooms, one including 2 triple bunk beds. The living space and kitchen was amazing and i loved the 2 patios! Also, the staff at the check in location were very polite and helpful. The only problem me and my group ran into was finding the place, but we weren't lost for long. The location of the cabin is perfect. Its quiet and secluded, yet there are neighbors. We go on a retreat every year and I will make sure we stay here again next fall.

Left on 09/04/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We looked at alot of different properties and really liked everything about this location. We read all the reviews and the one thing that stood out is that previous customers said they come back year after year. Well that is definately the case for us. We loved the house and location and everything was presented correctly. Even the floors creaking while people walk, but it added character to the house. There was ample sleeping for adults and kids and we all were surprised on how many amenities and things are left for us to use. The only thing I would recommend is for the front stairs to be replaced. They are broken, wobbly, and unsafe.

The Wodehouse was great, nothing fancy inside but
very comfortable for a big family. Unfortunately we
were snowed in for the weekend, so make sure you take
chains, the hills to reach the cabin are very
dangerous during snow conditions. Overall the cabin
is great, the backyard has great slopes for sledding
and hiking. Great cabin overall, my family had a

CarsonGreat time, Enjoyed the home but have a suggestion.
Left on 03/26/2010 for a stay in March 2010
I have previously rented this home. This was my fourth year renting this same home and I always enjoy going with my family. However, there are some suggestions I have always wanted to make. First, the bedroom downstairs (with the bunkbeds)is a great bedroom for kids to hang-out and they enjoy it. However, I have noticed that the couch in this bedroom needs to be replaced. Believe me, we are not looking for luxury, but this couch has served for many years and should be retired. I cringed as I saw my kids sitting on it while watching t.v. because it seemed so dirty. If possible, please replace it. A used couch would be fine, but something not quite so old. Also, the pink, folding, spongy thing/couch/chair, in the same bedroom should also be disposed. It's very dirty. Everything else was great; we noticed some repairs and improvements and we thank you (i.e., the bedroom at the end of the hall had a working lamp and there was a new blender and coffee maker). Kudos to the rental office, staff was polite and gave us great customer service. Also, we really enjoyed the goodie bag.:)
We love the location of the home, the forest in the back yard is beautiful is the best backdrop to enjoy family. The home is comfortable and clean.
What we like Best: The accomadations, plenty of space with a central location where we can eat as a family. And, plenty of room where we can retire and have some privacy.
Least: Some of the furniture in the common areas needs to be replaced.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 10/13/2010

The registration process was easy and the cabin much more functional than expected. The kitchen was fully equipped and we had a great time with the "private" sledding area out back! The basement entrance was very convenient to load and unload.
The cabin did not have internet access and no AT&T coverage (iphones) and the rooms are very "rustic" so bring earplugs if you don't want to hear the plumbing or footsteps at night.
Overall, it's a great place for family gatherings and we would definitely consider staying there again.Response from Big Bear Vacations - 10/13/2010

For our large group this was a really nice cabin. It had everything we needed. We did happen to take our own coffee pot thanks to the previous comment. It had a wonderful view with all the trees, and many little hiking trails in the back. I would stay here again and I would recommended this cabin to my friends and family.

Orange County, CASpacious & comfortable, but dated.
Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in August 2009
The Wodehouse is spacious and comfortable. It has a large common area and kitchen. The bedrooms were nice sized too. We had 12 people staying here and did not feel crammed at all.
The furniture and decorations are extremely dated, which gave us a laugh and something to talk about. Some of the fixtures (light switches, heating fans in the bathrooms) are old and do not work.
There is a hiking trail literally out the backdoor, a grill on the patio, and a great deck to view the wilderness. Overall, this is a nice place to stay. -
