Description from the manager
This adorable 1920's cabin has roots in the history with the old days and ways of very early Big Bear. It was the First Aid cabin that all the fisherman, cabin renters and campers visited for their minor medical needs, as it was centrally located. We purchased it as an original, screaming for it's own medical (restoration) needs and rescue it we did! That sweet little cabin has been completely remodeled and upgraded with maximum considerations in the nicest vintage way for your personal enjoyment and comfort. Everything is visually beautiful and brand new. One bedroom (oh so comfortable! Full size bed) and one full private bathroom with a...Read more

We loved our ahhhdorable getaway visit.
The owners' personal artistic attention to detail was so delightful. The well thought out amenities left nothing to want. The location was walking distance to the fun and exciting Village. We have two pugs Molly and Beau and they especially enjoyed the well manicured completely fenced yard. The service we experienced from the Big Bear Cool Cabins Staff was fabulous.
Thank you all for a wonderful experience. -

Our stay didn't start off on a good note. We arrived the day after a big storm. When we arrived to the cabin the driveway was covered in 2 feet of snow. We called the Management Company and they called the Owners of the cabin. At first the owners refused to have the driveway plowed. They expected us to shovel the snow ourselves. After a discussion they agreed to have the driveway plowed that night. The Management Company asked that we call them back if the driveway was not plowed within an hour, all of this happened at 5:00 pm. We called again that night only to find out that the Cabin Owner's were not able to get a hold of the snow plow company and we were just going to have to park across the street at a hotel. I thought it was rude that they didn't call and notify us of this issue. They have the cabin's phone number! I was 4 months pregnant at the time. This was unacceptable. They finally had the driveway plowed after waiting more than 24 hours. We had to park across the street and run. But after the driveway was plowed we were more comfortable and able to enjoy our vacation. This is a small cute cabin perfect for 2 people. Location is perfect for finding food and fun. We went to local shops, museums, and we had a wonderful time. We couldn't figure out how to use the fireplace. But the heater work perfect. A nice honeymoon vacation.

Hello Val,
We certainly did have a surprising amount of snow come down on our beautiful mountain upon your arrival! We at Cool Cabins contacted the owners right away after your phone call and they were right on top of trying to get the driveway plowed for you. They are always prompt in responding but phone calls by the owners for immediate attention to having plowing done after a big snow storm, well, all plowing companies were already out and overwhelmed with calls. The owners put in the request for plowing and were put in line. The owner of your cabin assured us that they had been trying to reach you through calling the cabin (to reassure you of their intent to get the driveway plowed) but you never picked up the ringing phone! The owners would never expect their guests to shovel snow themselves and it would be unreasonable to ask or assume that endeavor. We are so happy that you had a wonderful time in spite of Our Winter Snowstorm and know that the rest of your vacation was cozy and romantic at the Ahhhdorable Vintage Cabin as that special cabin is a perfect welcoming environment. Close to everything yet comfortably private.
Thank you,

My wife and I rented this cabin for a weekend just after New Years. The weather was beautiful and sunny and since it wasn't snowing the day we arrived it was relatively easy to drive there. The cabin has a great location as it is in walking distance to a few different restaurants and the "down town" area. The cabin itself is in great condition. It looks as though it has recently been remodeled, either that or it is taken very good care of. I don't really have anything bad to say about it. One thing I was very impressed with is that they updated the water heater to a modern on-demand unit. When we arrived the cabin was a little cool at first but once we turned up the thermostat it took no time at all to warm the cabin, plus it stayed nice and warm. And even in 14 degree weather the gas grill outside works like a charm. After a day full is skiing, snow boarding and other winter activities this cabin is a great place to retreat to. We will definitely be planning another trip.

First of all, this is my first review of a business ever! I just felt that the owners of this Cabin should get the same "over and beyond" expectations as we got for our "best Christmas ever" as a family!
Talk about going the extra mile to ensure our stay be extra special? Beautiful Holiday dishes and accessories, fully stocked and organized far more than the norm, the best location yet still hidden from the traffic area, even all the items necessary for a snowman to be built in the yard!
Can't thank you enough for your hospitality. We hope to make this an annual trip. -

We absolutely loved our stay at this comfortable, cozy, and well-maintained Ahhhdorable Vintage Cabin, which has been remodeled beautifully, complete with modern fixtures, including a well-equipped kitchen with modern appliances, a flat screen TV, and a wonderful recliner. This is our third stay at ahhhdorable Vintage Cabin and we can't imagine staying anywhere else in Big Bear. We love being able to walk to the Village restaurants and shops, and to the lakeside park across the street where we enjoy the company of friendly ducks. We've hiked many of the well-marked mountain trails in the National Forest and the long pedestrian path on the North Shore and love coming back to the creature comforts of the cabin to relax. And relax we did, with the fireplace taking the chill out of the cool mountain nights, and the ceiling fans keeping us cool in the day. We slept like babies in the comfortable bed, and awoke refreshed. There are two apple trees in the front yard that produce delicious fruit. The owners have thought of everything. We look forward to returning!

My husband and I had a great time! We went when the car show was going on. We were able to leave our car parked and walk to where we needed to go. Very convenient!! The cabin was fully stocked and I mean fully stocked with the exception of food. The cabin had a lot of charm! If I needed to find fault with anything, it would have to be the bedroom. There is a fan in the bedroom, and the fan is really nice to use when it is warm, and it was extremely warm this particular weekend. The fan is hooked up to the same switch that the ceiling lights are hooked up to, so it was impossible to use the fan. There was also another light switch that had a dimmer on it, but it didn't control anything in the bedroom. Other than this minor inconvenience, everything was great. Would highly recommend this cabin!!

Arrived early to check in and was told it was OK to go on over and "move in" for our 2 night stay. Loved that Cool Cabins, as we were so excited! Now to find the place...drove right past it, but saw it (cute place over there!) then realized that we passed the address and lo and behold turned around and...That was the place! Yes! It was set back, quaint, so well kept and very close to the Village as we had come up on the Village before we could turn around. Drove in the driveway and when we got in (loved the cottage round door) it was sooo nice and clean and just perfect. We both looked all around and you could sense the attention to detail there and it was Clean. Loaded in our stuff and settled in real comfy-like, it was easy to bond with the environment and feel right at home. Everything was just so well thought out and we stayed and played and rested and walked to the Village and rested and truly devoted ourselves to just being together. A third night stay would have been the best because when it was time to go we didn't want to but left yearning to come back and that's always good. We were very comfortable, the chair did seem to be broken because of apparent abuse and we were told upon check-out that it will be replaced any time: that the owners had already been informed. So we enjoyed every lovin' minute of being in Big Bear and this cabin was a good call for us. Comfort and location were spot on!

The little cottage is lovely to look at, but lacks some basic thought re amenities.
We arrived late on a Saturday night, as planned. We had to check in at an all night alarm company. We expected to be given a key and directions. Well, there was no key. Just a lockbox. The directions were wrong, as they were written as directions from an office in another part of town that closed down at 4PM. Once we figured that out and finally found it, tucked away from the street in the dark, it was about 45 minutes later. We walked up the path (thank goodness I had a flashlight app on my phone) there was no lockbox on the door. We found one on the side of the house, but that wasn't it either. After several calls and another 40 minutes we were told to look on the picket fence about 180 degrees from the front door. No picket fence, but a redwood wall of fence. Found it. Got inside and it was 82 degrees in there. No aC. No way to cool it down, unless you slept with all the windows and back door open. There was a ceiling fan in the bedroom, but in order to turn it on you also had bright flood lights shining in your eyes. Also, we expected a queen size bed, but there was just a smallish double. Bad planning. The broken recliner in the living room looks like it should be left on the street - ripped and broken. This is probably a great place in the winter. In the summer heat there should be some sort of ventilation or stand fans.
Good location. Don't go in the summer.Response from Big Bear Cool Cabins - 08/15/2012

We at Big Bear Cool Cabins are pleased to inform you that owners have replaced the recliner and added two nice breezy fans for the future comfort of Ahhhdorable Vintage' guests. The adjustment for the fan and light separation was available to you by the control switch right on the wall as you entered the bedroom; as the fan is high on the ceiling. The double bed is a full sized comfort bed as advertised. Ahhhdorable Vintage is also the ideal cabin thisclose to ALL amenities at the lake and in the village.

I thought this place was really nice it had everything we needed, except a/C during the heat wave made sleeping at night a bit warm. Plus the overhead fan would only work with the lights on, so we had no fan either. Other than that it was great and I would imagine they don't need a/C at any other time but the week we were there. It was a clean cabin and in a really good location, walking distance to food and bars.

I have rented many times from many places in Big Bear and this was the cleanest most comfortable rental we have found. Location was absolutely perfect as we were able to walk to both marinas and the village. It was a little warm being July, but with the windows and doors open we kept comfortable. Only thing I would have liked is if the bedroom ceiling fan could stay on without the light staying on, we would have been a little more comfortable at night, but overall, I have absolutely no complaints. My little dogs loved the yard as it was fenced all the way around. I would recommend this cabin for your stay!

My husband and I stayed here with our 7 month old daughter & our dog. The cabin is set in between two other buildings making finding it & parking difficult. After we found some landmarks to keep a look out for it was easier to park. This cabin is fully stocked with pretty much everything you would need. Didn't see any bugs inside & the upgrades made it feel like home. The front yard is fenced & a great place to relax, and the cabin is close to the lake and walking distance to the village shops. We would recommend this cabin!

We enjoyed our stay in the cabin. The amenities were great. We were pleased with the location as it is within walking distance of the Village and lake. Although it's located on a very busy street, it wasn't as much of an inconvenience as I thought it would be.
Our only issue was with the check out time (11:00) which we found to be a bit too early especially when you compare it to the check-in time. We also had a problem with the gas fireplace working on our second night although we were able to use it fine the first night. I would also like to suggest that the bed comforter be washed on a regular basis. It appeared as if it had not been washed in quite some time.
Other than these issues, I recommend staying as the small touches throughout the cabin were appreciated.Response from Big Bear Cool Cabins - 06/07/2012

The winter seasonal comforter has just been changed by the owners to a very nice vintage style patchwork quilt bedspread. It is very well made and the perfect weight for resting or sleeping under and if you saw it now, we are sure that you would be very pleased! San Diego, CAComfortable home in a great location
Left on 02/25/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This cabin was nicely done with modern upgrades. The fenced-in front yard was great and our dog and toddler loved playing in it. Everything was immaculate and the owners left lots of thoughtful touches--extra spices for cooking, toiletries, sewing kit, Dvds, books, and crayons. We had to call the rental agency twice for maintenance questions (nothing the fault of the homeowner, just general snow/ice related issues), and both times received excellent service. When I read that the place had "cable TV," I thought it meant basic cable channels (Espn, MTV, nick, etc), but the place only has basic *network* channels (NBC, fox, PBS, etc.)
When I was doing my research, I noticed some conflicting reviews about whether this home was on a busy street or not--my answer is yes, it is on an extremely busy street, especially on a holiday weekend after a 7-inch snowfall. There was a lot of traffic in the morning going to the ski resort and in the evening coming back, and because it is kind of a narrow driveway right after a bend in the road, it can be very difficult to back out of. Also, we had hoped that with the snow fall, the driveway at least would have been shoveled, but it was not at all, and that only added to our difficulties. But other than driving in and out, the traffic was not an issue--it was very quiet inside the cabin and the fence around the front is secure so there were no safety concerns for our dog or toddler.
But, on the good side, the location of this home is so good, you probably won't be needing your car much. The lake is across the street. The village is a safe and easy 2.5 block walk. There is even a park with a playground and ducks about 2 blocks away.
We would definitely recommend this cabin. -

Impulsively we chose to drive up to Big Bear because I had never seen snow. We arrived and ate at the Teddy Bear Restaurant in town (old place, decent food, funky but adorable) and walked the cool Village Stores. My boyfriend threw snowballs at me and it was so much fun to spend the day up there and we did not want too or feel like, driving home. We are both nurses and had off the next day so decided to impulsively stay over and was given this ahhhdorable Vintage Cabin by the cabin rental place (and we loved it) to stay in for the night. It was really close to the town, set back real nice and easy to get in and out of which was good because it was cold and icy there in the evening! The cabin got warm really fast (great heater!) and we were in a whole new world for being so spontaneous in going to big bear. We had a wonderful time at the cabin and the ambiance of the home/cabin was perfect. We walked to Village Pizza for dinner (great pizza!) and just loved every minute of being there. I had such a good time, we had such a good time and the comfort of the evenings stay was worth every penny. Inside and out this cabin was really wonderful and ahhhdorable! *P.S. Plus the people are so nice up there, the air was so crisp and fresh it burnt your nose to breathe it, the sky was spectacular with all the stars and the bed was so comfy and toasty that it was real hard to get up the next morning! Weee Loved Loved Loved being in Big Bear!!!

This visit was a multiple time to this cabin and we enjoy it very much. The familiar feeling of re-connecting by coming here again was perfect because we settled in right away to enjoy our 3-night vacation stay in Big Bear. We have a little dog and appreciated the very creative fence (no worries about him getting out) and eating our food outside on the bar was fun. We had the time to talk and talk and talk and before you knew it, it was two hours later. It rained a little bit and the pine smell wafting in after the rain was so fragrant that we stood outside taking deep nose inhalations of the mountain air perfume. It was heaven. We walked in to town (we loved the proximity of that option) and enjoyed the environment of this lovely little place, so very very much. Just what we needed. Just what we got. The comfort of the re-visit was great. We highly recommend for anyone/everyone. Five Stars all the way.

Thank you for taking the time to share information regarding your stay in 2010. On behalf of Big Bear Cool Cabins we would like to apologize for the issues you experienced during your stay. As of June this year the property owners of Ahhhdorable Vintage have replaced the bed with a new heavenly mattress for our guests. We are very sorry to hear that you were uncomfortable with no AC, but being at 6,750 feet has its advantages! We have the great fortune of averaging 10-20 degrees cooler than down in the flatlands. As such, most homes in Big Bear do not need to have air conditioning If the house was warmer than you would have liked, you could have simply opened the widows and the home would have cooled off fairy shortly. Once again thank you for taking the time to share information regarding your stay; we look forward to doing business with you in the future!

It was a joy to be there and it had the same wonderful energy as before, and the cottage was very well maintained. We cooked- in mostly and ate at the bar they have outside there for every meal. Wonderful, and food does taste better up in the mountains! Why is that? We walked through town holding hands enjoying our time together very much! All windows opened easily, and the curtains danced like ballerinas in the easy mountain breeze. It was glorious to stay there in every single way. And the new mattress set (we noticed the difference from last year) was indeed "heavenly." Firm, supportive yet soft and embracing. Very very Nice. We fixed incomers will certainly be back to adorable Vintage again! Thank you too, Cool Cabins for your excellent service!

The good: BB Cool Cabins was very helpful from the start, gave good recommendations on specific cabin for my needs and also easy check in/check out and dog friendly. The Cabin itself was pretty cute, with a cute kitchen & outdoor/yard. It was also centrally located so that we could walk to everything (lake & town.
The bad: The house was less than clean, (dirty stove top), cobwebs in windows. The bed was small and very uncomfortable and house was stiffling hot, the weather of course couldn't be helped due to a heat wave while we visited. However we were disappointed that not all windows would open, some were missing the handles to open them so it was challenging to get any air flow inside the house. -

Great location, fenced yard for pets. But bed was uncomfortable and there were ants all over the kitchen and in utensil drawers. A little disturbing!

This is a cabin worth it's location. We were dinner guests of a renter friend of a friend and sat outside at the bar there and had delicious mountain air bar-b-que. Across the street was the lake and later on we walked to Chad's Bar and played a little pool had a few beers, listened to great music... We did not spend the night but had a long evening at that cabin. I was looking to rent it myself (upcoming girlfriends b-day) and came across a wonkie review so it was easy to write this one too. I don't know about the check in or service as I have never done business with the cabin rental people. I will though because I want to bring my girlfriend so we can have this place to ourselves. I truly liked the vibe there and really enjoyed my evening with meeting and making new acquaintances/friends. I had a great time at this cabin. It was clean, cozy and fun to be there.

First time up to the mountain, first time trying out a cabin. A+ on both decisions, The lil' cabin was so warming , with a feel like i'm home energy. The only thing a little disappointing was the vintage looking gas fireplace did not work. The cabin did have central air though , nice . We will definitely return to Big Bear and look into the "Ahhhdorable" vintage cabin again...

Anniversary Disappoinment
San DiegoNice place, but not worth the money

The cabin was nicely renovated and was quite quaint. It's set back from a very busy road, but had a fenced in yard which was nice. Now the dissapointments: the fireplace wasn't working properly and the bed's cross boards were broken which made for a very uncomfortable stay. We emailed the property management company, our second day, and never got a response. So we just continued our anniversary Celebration and tried to make the most of it.
If the owner's were to replace the bed and fix the fireplace they would have an 8/10 rating.

It was adorable! The cutest little cabin and the yard was great for our granddaughter to play in the snow. Would stay there again but for a few problems: #1 hard to get in and out of parking area because so close to a bend in the road and people driving way too fast (especially in snow). #2 need a list at the cabin of who to call to pay to come dig you out of snow when completely buried. #3 basic cable only (need more channels as nothing to do at night).
