      Beyond our expectations

Left on 03/13/2013 for a stay in March 2013

This was such an enjoyable trip for us. The cabin was adorable and had no issues whatsoever. Huge kitchen to cook in, great little fireplace and huge backyard for our dogs to romp in the snow...which there was tons! Very conveniently located, but also tucked away. Already talking about when we can come back to Hilltop hideaway.

Truly amazing 4 day getaway at the Hilltop Hideaway!

Left on 02/14/2013 for a stay in January 2013

This little gem has everything you need, especially if you have a dog and kids. The property is clean and well maintained. It is fully stocked with fresh linens, dishes, utensils, etc.. Has a mud room for for switching out of your dirty wet clothes after a day out enjoying the elements. The backyard is fenced, and safe so your dogs can roam freely without much worry. The back deck and BBQ is a nice feature, and we can't wait to come back in the Summer to use it. They also provide games, and kids videos, etc. It really does meet most of your basic needs for fun in the mountains. That being said, don't try to compare it to a large expensive Chalet that you find along the lake side throughout Big Bear, that it is not. Oh, and one last thing, we did walk into town (The Village), which is actually .8 miles of up and down hills. So it's not as close to town as it may seem by the description details and from a map top view. And the closest available sledding area is located directly across the street, the property owner next door has posted keep out and no trespassing signs, which conflicts with the details of this property as well.

Excellent place to stay with plenty of room for the dog.

Left on 09/19/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Check in was painless and very efficient, the staff could not have been more pleasant. The home was perfert for us with adequate accommodations and space for the dog. There was no need to bring any amenities, everything was already there. A little bit of a hike to the village and the lake but doable. Double the time in climbing back up the hill. Closeness to dining was perfert. I would rent this one again.

As soon as we opened the door, it felt like we were home.
The place is so "comfee". They even had board games. Boating and hiking during the day, and wine and Monopoly in the evening. The deck is great. Bbq definately came in handy. Your surrounded by beautiful trees, and only the chirping birds and trickleing water are the sounds outside. Im just gonna say it... It felt like Heaven on Earth!

We enjoyed our stay at the Hilltop Hideaway. The yard was perfect for dogs and the neighbors were very cool dog people too! We spent alot of time on the porch-it was private and comfortabe. It was a relaxing stay in Big Bear and the house made the trip that much more fun.

Great customer service. The cabin was nice and clean, with all the essentials to have a nice and relax get away. Very good location, close to markets, the village and restaurants. I would definitively stay there again. The bed in the master bedroom not very comfortable.

      Near perfect experience

Left on 07/25/2012 for a stay in July 2012

We absolutely loved this cabin! It is located just a couple blocks off of Big Bear Blvd, but it is such a quiet neighborhood you feel like you are up in the mountains all alone. Very spacious for a two bedroom with all the amenities we needed. The back deck and backyard were very big, the pictures here don't do it justice...the yard is huge. The yard was great for the kids and the dog. The master bed is a memory foam mattress. The combination of the comfortable bed and all the activities had me sleeping like a baby.

The open plan kitchen area complete with bench seats at the table made it hard to choose whether it would be more fun to eat inside or out. Kitchen had everything we need (except a potato peeler) there were lots of corkscrews (which came in very handy).

Some minor problems including ants (we just put out bait traps and they mostly went away), a little dusty (but that's to be expected), and a bunch of cigarette butts in the backyard (I just picked them up when I found them to avoid the kids touching them).

Check-in / check-out was no problem. The place was easy to clean and the Big Bear Cool Cabins people made it easy for us to find in the first place. Mild bummer that I saw on my e-mail while I was at the cabin, they had a promotion where I could have paid for two nights and gotten a third for free (we reserved in June and paid for all three nights), but that's just the way it goes I guess.

Overall a great experience, kids are already asking when we are coming back to "our" cabin.

The cabin was nice and very clean. There is a very nice large yard with huge deck with bbq. However there were lots of ants in the kitchen and the tv in the 2nd bedroom did not work. Other than that the cabin was great in an a good area close to everything.

      Peaceful Relaxing Retreat

Left on 06/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Being a previous renter of this home, it was nice to stay here again. It is in a quiet area, easy parking in front, short drive to all activities, and a safe street to walk our dog. The furniture is typical of most rentals, but the master bed has a nice, firm foam mattress, good for back sleepers. The back deck is spacious, and the huge fenced yard is great for dogs.
When we arrived, the yard was full of weeds, not pet-friendly. We called the office and they quickly sent maintenance over so we had a nice yard for our 3 days. There are some minor cleaning issues, also typical of rentals that maybe aren't used often. Extra time spent on vacuuming corners and cleaning out the window sills and sliding door tracks would be appreciated. We have already booked this home again later this year, and would recommend to others!

Our first visit to the Big Bear area was a wonderful experience partially due to the comfortable, well maintained cabin!
The appliances were new, the cabin was clean, and having the 2 beds in the 2nd bedroom was an added bonus!
The staff at cool cabins were also very helpful - they even plowed the driveway while we were gone!
Hoping to go back in the summer to enjoy activities on the lake!

just what we were looking for...

Left on 11/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011

this place was perfect for my wife and i and our two dogs (lab and toy aussie). there was easily space for another couple to have been there without feeling crowded. the furnishings and decor inside were great, with old snow skis and water skis and such. the kitchen was modern and large with a nice dining area. the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and a sliding glass door opening onto the back deck was a nice feature. the other bedroom had two beds (not near as comfortable), but the fact that it has no TV will disappoint some people. the backyard was well fenced, but does have a pretty good incline, sloping down away from the house. the back deck was great, with a bbq and chairs and a picnic table. though it didn't really matter to us, there is a big drop from the deck to the ground (5-6 feet)and a small dog could go through the rail and jump or fall off. checking in and out was simple and easy going and the prices were great. we loved this place and are excited to try some of the other cabins offered by cool cabins

We all felt very comfortable in the cabin. Great location, easy to have walks, but also easy driving to other places in Big Bear. Area not as busy as in other places I have stayed. Would definitely rent the cabin another time. Only drawback was not having internet connection for my son-in-law.

      We Loved Hilltop Hideaway!!!

Left on 10/21/2011 for a stay in October 2011

Great place. We stayed 3 days and 2 nights at Hilltop Hideaway, and brought our Rat Terrier. Our dog loved the back yard, and sunning on the large deck. To simplify our review, we will list the pros & cons of this location.

Pros: Cabin-like feel inside, hot wood-burning stove, well-stocked kitchen, lots of sleeping options (3 beds, 1 sofa bed, 1 futon), large deck, huge well-maintained/fenced/dog-safe back yard, mud room, small porch in the front if back deck is too sunny, washer/dryer, good location, neighbors pond provides soothing background noise, nice views of trees and neighborhood.

Cons: No toaster, no iron, no wireless internet (but who's supposed to be on the internet in Big Bear anyways?).

This home would accomodate a family very well. We definitely intend on returning to this same home again with our kids. Overall great experience and met our expectations.

We Bbq'd and enjoyed the weather as a family. The only issue that I had was the add said pet friendly however, the yard was not kept up and I could not let my dogs free in the back yard.

This is a wonderful home to rent for the holidays. It is close to everything, the neighborhood is quient yet you know others are around. The house was clean, the kitchen large and family friendly. The furniture in the livingroom is old and dated but I didn't go there for the furniture! There is also a "mud porch" when you first come in that has a tv and is also warm and cozy! All in all, a fabulous place and we hope that we get it again next year!
