Rapid City, SDThe kids loved it...

Perfect cabin for teenagers. They loved the privacy of the loft. We loved the closeness to Moonlight Basin and really enjoyed the ping pong competitions every night. House was very clean and had everything we needed including a blender for Huckleberry Shakes at night. Would definitely stay again. : O )

Somerville, MAPerfect Ski Home :)
Left on 01/20/2013 for a stay in January 2011
My three siblings and I stayed at Castle Rock Cabin for four nights in January while on a ski vacation, and it could not have been a more perfect place to stay. Spacious but cozy, we absolutely loved coming home to the cabin after long days on the slopes! 30 minutes from Bozeman and also from Big Sky this cabin was very conveniently located place for us. Bridger is a little further (about an hour), but still very accessible. The cabin is very comfortable, has everything you could need, and the wood stove is a great place to gather and warm up with a nice mug of cocoa! As four 20-somethings from Boston, we found it incredibly restorative to not have any cell phone service or access to internet! Castle Rock Cabin is the perfect place for a mountain escape to the slopes! Mountain Home was very helpful and made the renting process very easy and smooth. Thank you, Mountain Home, for helping to make our vacation so great!

We spent a week at the Castle Rock Cabin and it was fantastic! Amazing setting, great space and everything we needed! Whitewater rafting and zip line fun are just down the street, and we even went to Yellowstone for the day. We really savored every moment we had and the cabin made it all the more fun!

Left on 08/29/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Our service with the Mountain Home group was excellent. All communication was done via e-mail and they were prompt and efficient. A well-maintained home with great location to Gallatin river for fishing and hiking. Yellowstone and Big Sky are within easy driving distance. Fully stocked cookware in kitchen with gas grill for outside grilling. Only complaint was internet hook-up directions poor and couldn't get to work. Had planned to use for things to do in area. (Owners did have good supply of books and brochures.) This was our 2nd stay in this home.

MONTPELLIER, FRANCEnoisy
Left on 08/07/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The house itself is perfect but the location is poor, because of the noise, it's impossible to stay on the desk (front and back) during the day and you don't say it on the ad. Not to mention that we have had 2 very bad surprises,
1/ the Internet didn't work. My laptop is a "MaC book pro" so widely used and the Internet used the phone (no signal in the valley). The phone plug didn't fit to my laptop, and again it's not said. I have had to go every day to Bozeman to check my emails from my company in France, very unpleasant and expensive (gas). I called you for that and you promised me to find an adaptor... I am still waiting...
2/ you should mown the garden grass earlier, we stayed 3 weeks and the grass has been mown the last week !
Inform about the noise and the Internet !
It was our third trip with your company and so far all was perfect.
This time we have been very disappointed
just inform more precisely

Nashville, TNBack to the Basics of Life
Left on 09/21/2010 for a stay in September 2010
From start to finish, this couldn't have been a better vacation! We decided to visit Montana with about 3 weeks lead-time. We found Mountain Home through an internet search and found exactly what we were looking for - Castle Rock cabin, not far from Bozeman, Yellowstone, fishing and hiking.
Castle Rock gave me and my husband a chance to get back to the basics of life - unplug from blackberries, e-mail, phone calls, and meetings and really appreciate spending time together and appreciate the world around us. Castle Rock was a perfect location for hiking, fishing, Yellowstone National Park, Big Sky, and Bozeman. For the most part, everything was just minutes from the house.
And speaking of the house...it was like being at home. The house had everything you could ever need or want. After spending the day outdoors, we relaxed at the house and cooked in each night. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need to prepare a fabulous dinner. Great beds for a good night's sleep and plenty of room for a family to stay. Amenities include, satellite TV, board games, books, a DVD player with a library of movies, a CD player with a great collection of music and if you absolutely can't completely unplug, there is internet access. The deck on the front of the house allows you to sit out each night and gaze at the stars.
Our vacation was a chance for us to relax and recharge and that is exactly what we did! Mountain Home's website is fantastic. It was easy for us to make reservation, familiarize ourselves with the area before getting there with tips about places to eat, grocery stores, recommended hiking and fishing spots, etc and photos. What you read and see on their website is just what you will get! I recommend highly Mountain Home and if available, Castle Rock cabin, you won't be sorry! -

Edmond, OKGreat week in the Galatin Valley
Left on 08/26/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Had an excellent week in the Galatin Valley. Our cabin was very nice and clean and in an perfect location. Only complaints were the cabin was a little small (in terms of number of rooms/beds and bathrooms) for our group and we lost power one night (as did the whole section of the valley, so not much anyone could do about that).
We generally stay in a friends cabin (which was unavailable this year) but this was an excellent alternative. -

The cabin was awesome. It was nice to come back to a "home" after a busy day of sightseeing. The kids loved the loft and we all enjoying the privacy of the cabin. The ping pong table in the garage was a big hit with the family as well. Can't wait to go back sometime!!

Left on 03/25/2010 for a stay in February 2010
I rented Castle Rock Cabin for 3 days and really enjoyed the stay. The home is beautiful, very comfortable and had all the amenities I could ask for. Only had to buy groceries - almost everything else was there. Loved the skylight in the loft to see the stars at night and the view of Castle Rock from the living room area. Highly recommend this for a short (or long) getaway!

Left on 10/01/2009 for a stay in August 2009
My father and I stayed at Castle Rock for our recent "flyfishing trip of a lifetime". The cabin(home)is absolutely beautiful and extremely well maintained. It had every amenity imaginable. The literature provided by the owners was extremely helpful in understanding the surrounding areas and served us well in planning our trips. Leaving was the most difficult part of he stay! I highly recommend Castle Rock to those planning a trip where you want to be within walking distance of the Great Montana outdoors but still have all the comforts of home!

This cottage was a delightful getaway for
Christmas. Far enough away from Bozeman and
Big Sky to be quiet and relaxing, but close
enough to enjoy all the activities of both.
Our family of 6 really enjoyed our stay and
are thinking of making it an annual tradition. -

Pretty good location. Close to Bozeman, Yellowstone Park, hiking trails, river. The only issue we had was a highway noise. I really doubt that you can fully relax around the cabin.

Hello Graff -
Thanks for your comments about your stay at Castle Rock Cabin last summer. You are right, the cabin is close to Route 191, the main road from Bozeman to Big Sky...a convenience for getting onto the Gallatin River and to all the other great local activities, but it's not one of our more remote or tucked-away-from-everything cabins. Most guests say that inside the cabin and on the back deck the road noise is not an issue, but we understand that sensitivities very. We try to be very clear about the location in our description both on our website and in conversations with prospective guests, and have a few photos on our website showing the proximity of the home to the road, so we hope that this was not a surprise.
We hope that you'll try us again sometime soon, and that we can find you a home that turns out to be a perfect fit for you.

Kansas City, MissouriConvenient to Bozeman, but in the country!
Left on 04/24/2009 for a stay in July 2008
This rental property is about 30 minutes south of Bozeman and about 30 minutes north of Big Sky. This puts it a stones throw to skiing as well as the needs in the city. It sets off the highway and has a beautiful view of the mountains. It is conveniently located to great fishing, hiking, rafting, and all the other outdoor activities offered in the Galatain river valley. The cabin is cozy, comfortable, and clean. the perfect place for a relaxing evening after hiking, fishing, etc. The back porch, front porch, picnic table were all used and enjoyed. Highly recommended!
