36525Big Sky Vacation Rentals and Powder Ridge Cabins are an Excellen
Left on 02/26/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We stayed at Powder Ridge Cabin #7 over President's Day Weekend this year (5 nights) and rented it through Kirsten King at Big Sky Vacation Rentals. Kirsten and her team were so nice to work with and the cabin was in very good condition. No issues with renting the cabin and Kirsten returned my security deposit 3 days after I left Big Sky! Very straightforward rental (and I have had some bad ones). Kris was the "on property" manager and she did her best to help us whenever she could (she sent a ton of info to us to make our trip as easy as possible...for example she recommended that we preorder our groceries from the Hungry Moose and that saved us a lot of time). We had a cable convertor box break during the stay and Kris had a new one to us in less than 12 hours. She did a great job. Pros/Cons on #7
Pros:
1. The cabin is spacious (we had 3 adults and 5 children there 13, 11, 9, 5, 4) and we never felt cramped or on top of each other;
2. #7 has a great fireplace (with plenty of cut firewood);
3. #7 has a nice size hot tub (we had 6-7 people in it at a time)
4. The cabin was clean, in great repair and very well provisioned (e.g., towels, spices, utensils, etc.);
5. Skiing in to the Cabin was decent. There are some flat areas at the very end but once you get a feel for the terrain you can probably full out ski to the cabin about 95% of the time;
6. Cannot say enough nice things about the rental agency or Kris. Very professional!;
7. The location is great for the price and we felt it was an excellent value.
Small Cons:
1.The Cabin is not really Ski Out for little children (4-7)...Skiing out consists of skiing uphill at least twice over decent distances; distances that young skiers would not be able to do without an adult pulling or pushing them. My older children and the adults had no issues "skating" up the inclines but by day two my smallest children and I just walked to the lift (not a big deal as the distance is relatively minor) but in all fairness I think I would advertise #7 as Ski In and Walk Out. If you want Ski In/Ski Out I think it might be better to grab a cabin farther up the hill (14? maybe). Just ask Kirsten...she knows the mountain so well!
2. The Kitchen is rather dark. Again, not a huge issue and Kris tried to help, but all the under counter lights on the left of the Kitchen are burned out and the lights under the hood were out as well. All the lighting that would come from the dining area in the cabin is blocked because of the way the soffit is built around the edge of the kitchen. It made for interesting times cooking breakfast and dinner as it got a bit dark. I think the owners of #7 should really consider doing something about that.
Big Sky is a great place to ski and my family had a blast. The resort is low key and family orientated and the mountain has runs for everyone. We would both rent from Big Sky Vacation Rentals again and we would go back to Big Sky in a heartbeat! -

We had family fly in from California, Pennsylvannia, and West Virginia. We got to reconnect with our loved ones and that was what we wanted...The extra's was the great snow boarding,according to my Husband and step children it was Sic...lol. We snowmobiled through Yellow Stone and my daugher and grandchildren didn't go with us, and she locked herself out of the cabin by mistske and it only took 10 minutes to get the help she needed..next time I will make sure everyone has memorized the extra key code. lol. But I thank Kirsten and amber and everyone else there for helping our vacstion be so special.. RhondaSchwing

This was our third Holiday season spent in Big Sky and everytime we have booked our accommodations through Big Sky Vacation Rentals. I highly recommend Kirsten and her staff. They take care of everything and have excellent properties available. We found the Powder Ridge 115 just as described on the website. The property had everything we needed during our week stay. We loved having a mainfloor living space and a lower level family room so that family members could spread out and do different activites at night after a day of skiing. The hot tub was awesome! I would not hesitate to recommend this property and Big Sky Vaction Rentals to others looking for high quality accomodations and services in Big Sky.

Left on 08/19/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This cabin was so nice. We had a group of 11 that we were able to accommodate very easily. Everything there we needed. Plenty of activities for late summer. Easy transactions for payment and quick email responses. Received deposit back in a short amount of time. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. Could not be the price for the type of setting. Less than a hotel when we split between three families and so much better. Would love to make it back at sometime and I am sure we will. One of our friends loved the area so much they are looking at property.

This is the second time I've stayed at one of Kirsten Kings Cabins. This is without question the way to go whether your staying in Big Sky with a group of friends or with your family. Any qustions or concerns you have will be answered immediately by a local who is on the mountain who knows the mountain. All of Kirsten Kings cabins are very clean and user friendly with all the comforts of home. If the cabin you want is not available talk to Kirsten she has several.

Winnipeg, ManitobaOur new favorite spring break destination
Left on 05/10/2011 for a stay in March 2011
After locating the powder ridge cabins on the internet, Kirsten provided prompt excellent service via email, to seal the deal. Having never been to Big Sky, Montana, we weren't sure what to expect. After the long drive from Winnipeg, we were very happy to arrive. The first thing we saw was snow half way up the cabin. When we walked in, everyone was in awe. We took pictures before we messed it up. The first day of skiing was fabulous. The only regret we had was stopping for lunch at the nicest looking restaurant at the bottom of the hill. $50.00 later, we knew what we had to do the next day. We returned to the cabin for lunch with ease on the ski out. Getting back to the lift was a little difficult for the little ones. The cabin was quiet and cozy. The days following, we packed our lunch and had a picnic at the log cabin at the top of the hill. The only thing we would change would be the hot tub. It was too small for 8 people and could have had a step or stool for safe access. We took a day off skiing to shop and found the most affordable places for souvineers to be right in the ski resort of Big Sky. We drove 5 minutes to a top rated restaurant and had the greatest elk for dinner. We are planning on returning to Big Sky, most likely to powder ridge cabins, but may try a larger one next time. My daughter learnt to snowboard on the hill right beside the cabin. It was a great holiday overall.

This cabin has everything you need for a great ski trip. I have skied all over the western united states and this was my favorite ski trip. The cabin has everything you would want in a ski cabin including ski in / ski out. Big Sky and Moonlight Basin have terrain for all skier levels and tons of it with no crowds. Big Sky Vacation Rentals were very professional, prompt, thorough, and helpful. I would definitely rent this cabin from them again.

Lake Forest, ILAmazing Vacation!
Left on 03/17/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We can't say enough wonderful things about Kirsten and Kris, who managed this beautiful vacation home. Kirsten and Kris met with us personally to check us into the home and helped acquaint us with the amenities (hot tub; TV/DVD/Wii, etc), answered questions about the Big Sky area and the ski hill. They even brought over extra games for our 4 kids. 5 star service all the way!
The home was terrific. We had plenty of room for our group of 10 and the layout allowed for privacy and personal space. The bonus room in the lower level was ideal for kids to relax after a long day of skiing.
We were plesantly surprised by our Big Sky experience. We can't wait to come back! -

The accommodations were more then adequate for the five adult males in our group and the location was truly "ski-in, ski-out". Kirsten was very responsive to our needs, even returning late one evening to fix a malfunctioning smoke detector. We would definitely consider returning.

Left on 09/28/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We stayed at a Powder Ridge cabin that we booked with Kirsten King of www.BigSkyVacRentals.com. We drove in from Seattle and got there after dark, but the house light was on and we "checked in" the next morning. Kirstin was extremely helpful both over the phone and in person. She made sure we got the right cabin that fit our needs. The cabin itself was wonderful. Great beds, nicely furnished and plenty of firewood. The place was huge. The hot tub was very relaxing after a long day of hiking. We used the cabin as a base camp for exploring Yellowstone National Park. I found Big Sky in general to be less expensive and having better facilities than in the park or some of the gateway towns around the park. Big Sky was perfect for us. I'd definitely stay in this cabin or one of the other rentals from Big Sky Vacation Rentals, knowing that they would take good care of us.
