Big Sur is the jewel of the Central California coast. Four state parks with beaches are just minutes from our retreat cabins, which are situated on 5 private acres on the sunny side of the Big Sur Valley, 1/2 mile from the Big Sur River. Just 1/2 hour to Carmel and the Monterey Peninsula. Driftwood and Sandpiper cabins are tandem, and if the main cabin, Driftwood, is rented, Sandpiper is left vacant. Charlie Cabin is below and unseen from the upper two. All three have a special ambiance and special features, with attention to the Big Sur aesthetic. Although he normally requires 2 nights of minim stay, he gave us the cabin for 1 night.
We end up negotiating the price...some how was not the price he shown on his website.
The scary part, he cashed the deposit check and then returned 100% after a week! that was annoying...

Unbelievable! We consented to a 1 night stay at a discount and our cabin prices are clearly stated! Though I returned their deposit in full after a reasonable time allowing for their check to clear, she's annoyed? I didn't charge for cleaning the cabin and especially the hot tub, which was a mess.What good is a check as a cleaning/damage deposit?

Chad and Kathy have a wonderful place here. I stayed in the Charlie cabin for 3 days over the 4th of July weekend and it was spectacular. The perfect place to spend the days in quiet, peaceful, contemplation. I sat on the wonderful deck looking over the Big Sur River Valley and read my book while hawks flew by at eye level. In the evening when it cooled off, I sank down into the hot tub and waited for the local fox to come by and say hi.
Although I wasn't in the mood for it, there was a huge 4th of July celebration that the neighbors invited me to up the road from the cabin. Apparently 100's of people go to this thing, but you'd never know it hanging out in the Charlie cabin. I hardly heard a peep!
Plenty of hikes are a short drive away and the Big Sur River Inn is just a stroll down the hill from the cabin if you want to sit in the river and read a book.

We stayed here for a weekend and were delighted to experience clean cozy surroundings with very nice amenities. Hot tub was a bonus as well as a large deck to relax and see the peaceful forest. We felt we were alone in the world, even though there was a few houses near by we couldn't see them. Clean and well appointed.

Very comfortable, cozy cabins in a fantastic location right next to a river. The sound of running water is simply amazing... Would not hesitate to stay there again, great value for the money.
