oakland, caSpectacular hiking and wildflower getaway
Left on 04/19/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We stayed 2 nites in "Safari" and loved the beauty and efficiency of all amenities, from the great hide-away bed to the outdoor chaises by our firepit. The view, the snug camper, & Caroline/Vern's hospitality made it feel like a home-away-from-home. I was given this getaway by my colleagues at work, and they asked Caroline for a gift cetificate -- she didn't have any really set up, but crafted one for them, and me! So sweet. Would definitely recommend and we'll come again...

Chicago, ILGreat time!

We stayed in the Safari in March. We had a blast! The location is perfect (just an FYI, be prepared to go up and down a steep curvy gravel road to the location), and Caroline was very friendly. I'd recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Big Sur for an upscale "camping" experience. It's in the middle of all great things to do in Big Sur. Beautiful view too!

San Francisco, CaliforniaGreat Glamping Experience!
Left on 04/12/2013 for a stay in September 2012
I love this place! We stayed in the airstream Safari and it was just as adorable as in the pictures! It felt very private and very quiet. We had a problem with the gas grill because it was not cooking our steak, but we called Caroline and they tried everything they could to fix it. We ended up cooking it on the stove.
One thing, I will say is that it's easy to miss the entrance and the private roads are a little rocky and may be scary to drive them at night if you haven't done it before. Caroline addresses this in the contract and says that you can call them and they will meet you at the entrance to help.
Caroline, her husband and their sweet doggy were really great. This little place has everything that you need- salt/pepper/saran wrap- even tiny reusable ice cubes and portable lunch bag to pack for a hike. I really enjoyed my stay here. It was wonderful and I would love to come back! -

The airstream was awesome! The only thing I might mention is the road going up to the site was a little sketchy...So I would recommend going up during daylight. other then that it was perfect.

Toledo, ORThe perfect honeymoon!
Left on 07/26/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We loved our stay at Big Sur Getaway! Loved it! We had just been through the wonderful whirlwind of getting married and were very excited about getting in some R & R! That we did! The place was luxurious and peaceful!
The airstream was very comfortable and nicely decorated- clean, simple, modern. I loved how open it was and was surprised how roomy it felt. You could not find a better view to wake up to. I enjoyed my morning tea in one of the loungers outside and soaked up the morning sun. We had most of our dinners at the airstream and used the grill outside to make some delicious food. Caroline and Wern suggested a seafood market in Carmel that had amazing fish! It was the perfect place to just hang out, relax, and enjoy our ceviche, grilled seafood skewers, grilled pineapple and salmon...
Caroline and Werner were incredible hosts! They took such good care of us. Waiting in our airstream was a card and bottle of wine, congratulating us on our recent nuptials. They treated us as friends, inviting us over to celebrate the 4th of July, saving us seats at Big Sur International Short Film Series, talking airstreams with us. We really enjoyed their pace of life and are glad to have much such interesting people!
Big Sur itself has so much to offer, beaches, hikes, beautiful drives, Carmel is close, lots of places to get good food. Big Sur Getaway is the perfect home base for exploring the area.
Matt and I love what a unique experience we had for our honeymoon! Whether she was trying to or not, Caroline infected us with the airstream bug, as we are now saving up for our own to fix up! We can't wait to go back and visit!

HamburgA once in a lifetime experience
Left on 07/19/2012 for a stay in July 2012
I will never forget, sleeping in this comfortable stylish airstream, letting the days in Big Sur at the beach, the nice BBQ in the evening, the talks with my charming host Caroline, pass by, seeing the twinkling stars in the sky through a big window. I definitely recommend this place as a very special hideaway.
